The morning sun hung low over New Haven, casting long shadows across the walls and watchtowers. The town was already alive with activity, workers tending to crops, patrols marching along the perimeter, and the faint sounds of hammers and saws as the survivors continued to expand their growing settlement.
They has come a long way since the mansion almost a year ago. Now they had erected over two dozen homes and had a barn for storing their grain and food. They had multiple storage buildings for supplies, weapons, and ammunition.
They also had built a permanent 20ft tall stone wall around the perimeter of the community which was quite the feat. It had taken them all spring and well into the summer to complete. But it added a significant defensive barrier against the monsters lurking in the wild.
