The appearance of the giant flying mutant sent a ripple of fear through the convoy. Its shadow loomed over the battlefield, growing larger as it circled lower, clearly intent on making its move. Every soldier within the convoy felt the weight of the looming threat pressing down on them. But the horde of zombies was still closing in, and the group had no choice but to fight on two fronts.
"We're sitting ducks down here!" Jackie shouted, looking between the skies and the ever-growing horde. "We need to move, now!"
George cursed under his breath, gripping the steering wheel tighter. The narrow streets and debris made it nearly impossible to speed up, and the sound of that mutant's wings beating overhead only added to the pressure. "We've got to get out of this kill zone! Althea, how much longer until you can use magic again?"
