Chapter 6 - Chained!!

Claire's POV

I woke up in an unfamiliar room, my eyes blinking open to a place I didn't recognize. The dim light came through heavy curtains, making my heart raced as I quickly sat up and tried to figure out where I was.

'What's going on? Where am I?' I whispered to myself. A wave of panic surrounded me as I looked around the room.

I took a deep breath as I tried to calm my nerves down. I needed to think clearly. I slowly pushed the covers aside, swung my legs over the edge of the bed, and attempted to stand up. But as I moved, I felt something cold and hard around my ankles.

My eyes widened in shock when I looked down as a thick metal cuffs were wrapped around my ankles, chaining me to the bed. The cold metal bit into my skin, making it clear I was trapped."What the hell is this!?" I gasped, my voice trembling as I pulled at the chains. I couldn't believe what I was seeing—someone had actually chained me to the bed! I wasn't just stuck in this room; I was literally tied down, unable to move freely.

Fear and confusion swirled in my mind like a storm. Who would do this to me? Why was I here? I tried to remember how I had ended up in this situation, but my mind was a blank. It was as if I had been ripped from my life and dropped into this strange place without any warning.

As I was still trying to make sense of everything, my eyes caught sight of a piece of paper on the bedside table. My heart pounded as I leaned over, stretching as far as the chains would allow, to pick up the note. With trembling hands, I unfolded it, hoping it would give me some answers.

'Don't even try to escape me, lest… I lose my temper and consume you in my rage!' The words were written in a strong, familiar handwriting. My breath hitched as I realized who it belonged to!

A cold shiver ran down my spine. Why!? Why would he do something like this? Not only had he locked me in a room, but he had also chained me like a prisoner! My mind raced as I tried to understand his intentions. What did he want from me? Why had he gone to such extreme lengths to keep me here?

As I stared at the note, disbelief and anger battled inside me. I felt like I was on the edge of a breakdown, my thoughts jumbled and chaotic.

Just then, a surge of memories flooded my mind. I saw flashes of the last night before I lost my consciousness.

***Flashback***

Last night, I was desperately running away from the haunting images of my past when I heard Evander's voice calling out from behind me.

"Run! You have to run and never look back!" I muttered to myself, determination fueling my every step. I couldn't afford to slow down, not when I was so close to escaping the clutches of the man I never wanted to see again.

I was still running when suddenly, a blinding light flashed in front of me. It startled me, causing me to stumble and fall hard onto the ground.

"Ah!" I cried out as a sharp pain shot through my knees. I looked down and saw blood trickling from the cuts. My elbows were scratched too, burning from the rough impact. My eyelids grew heavy, and I felt myself slipping into darkness, the world around me fading away.

Just as I was about to lose consciousness completely, I felt strong arms scoop me up, lifting me from the cold ground. The warmth of the person holding me was a stark contrast to the cold pavement beneath me.

'Who is this person?' I wondered, my thoughts hazy and confused.

'What does he want from me?' I questioned to myself, feeling fear and uncertainty tug at the edges of my fading awareness.

But before I could make sense of anything, the last bit of my consciousness slipped away, and everything went dark.

***Flashback Ended***

A chill ran down my spine as I desperately tugged at the cuffs around my ankles. Panic surged through me; I needed to leave this place before that person arrived. My heart pounded in my chest, and my hands shook as I tried to free myself, but the metal cuffs held me tight, refusing to budge.

I glanced around the room again, hoping for something—anything—that could help me escape. The fear of what might happen if I stayed here any longer made my thoughts race. I couldn't afford to waste any more time. I needed to find a way out before it was too late.

As I struggled against the restraints, the sound of footsteps echoed from the hallway. My breath caught in my throat, and my heart felt like it was going to explode.

"No, no, no…," I whispered to myself, frantically pulling at the cuffs with renewed desperation.

The footsteps grew closer, each step reminding me that my time was running out. I could feel the icy grip of fear tightening around me. If I didn't escape now, I didn't know what would happen when that door finally opened.

"Come on, come on!" I urged myself, yanking harder on the cuffs, my skin scraping against the cold metal. The pain didn't matter; all that mattered was getting out of here before the person I feared the most walked through that door.

The door handle rattled, and my blood ran cold. Panic surged through me as the harsh reality hit—I wasn't going to make it. The realization struck me like a punch to the gut, knocking the breath from my lungs. My heart pounded in my chest as I froze, every muscle in my body tensing in fear.

The door creaked open slowly, the sound echoing in the silent room, and my eyes locked on the widening gap. My breath caught in my throat as the figure of a person appeared in the doorway, their shadow stretching across the floor like a dark omen.

Time seemed to slow as the door swung fully open, revealing the figure standing there. My heart raced, my mind screaming at me to do something but my body refused to move, paralyzed by the sheer terror of what was to come.
