Susan's POV
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. I needed to convince her. I had to make her see the benefits of helping me.
"Because if Evander stays with Claire, he will always be distracted," I began, my voice calm but firm. "His focus won't be on you, and he won't listen to you either. Is that what you want?"
I paused for a moment, watching her expression. Then, I decided to push harder, to strike where it would hurt most. "Do you remember why we played all those games to separate her from him in the first place?" I leaned in slightly, my tone sharpening. "And do you really think Claire will stay quiet once she finds out the truth about her accident… Auntie?"
Her smirk wavered. That hint of hesitation was all I needed, and I could see that on her face. I could see her racking her mind.
