Evander's POV
I started the engine, my grip on the steering wheel tight as I tried to focus. "Claire, call Zaniel," I said, my voice sharp but controlled. I knew Zaniel would still be knee-deep in investigating the people connected to Elijah, but this was urgent.
Claire nodded, quickly dialing the number. The moment the call connected, Zaniel's voice came through, hurried and direct.
"Yes, boss! I am still looking into—"
"She took Eliam away!" I cut him off, my tone cold and unyielding.
There was a pause before Zaniel responded, his voice laced with disbelief. "What!? She moved that fast." I could hear him shuffling through papers or something in the background. "I will bring the lawyer and meet you in forty-five minutes!" he added before abruptly hanging up.
I clenched my jaw, frustrated but not surprised by Zaniel's reaction. This wasn't just a step too far—it was war.
