Chapter 22 - CONFUSED XIAO YAN

"Xun'er, I want to be alone for a while."

Xiao Yan gently shook his head, taking a deep breath as he spoke.

"Brother Xiao Yan?"

Xiao Xun'er was momentarily stunned, but when she saw the confusion and sorrow on Xiao Yan's face, she understood that he must have something on his mind that he didn't want others to know. So, she softly replied, "I understand, Brother Xiao Yan."

"Then I'll leave now. If you need anything, you can call for me, okay?"

Xiao Xun'er flashed a playful smile, waved her delicate hand at Xiao Yan, and then turned to leave.

"This silly girl..."

Xiao Yan watched her retreating figure, a wave of warmth rising in his heart. However, it quickly turned into a bitter smile as he also turned and walked in the opposite direction.

As night fell, Xiao Yan found himself on a cliff at the back of the Xiao family estate. Lying on the grass, he chewed on a blade of grass, allowing the faint bitterness to spread in his mouth.

He raised his somewhat pale hand to shield his eyes, peering through his fingers at the vast, bright moon hanging in the night sky.

"Sigh, what's going on? Why is my Dou Qi disappearing?"

Thinking about the test that afternoon, Xiao Yan spat out the grass and sighed deeply, scratching his head in frustration as confusion filled his eyes.

"From Dou practitioner to the fourth stage of Dou Qi... Haha, the heavens really are playing tricks on me."

"Maybe my coming to this world was a mistake from the start."

Xiao Yan murmured to himself, his gaze filled with bewilderment, as if he was struggling to accept his current state.

In Xiao Yan's heart, there was a secret that only he knew.

He wasn't originally from this world.

Strictly speaking, his soul came from a planet called Earth.

As for why he ended up here, he couldn't explain the strange circumstances that had led to it.

However, over the years, he had gained some understanding of this continent.

Unlike the flashy magic, this land had only one mainstream practice: the cultivation of Dou Qi.

The cultivation of Dou Qi was divided into eleven stages, from Dou disciple to Dou god.

From his years of learning within the Xiao family, he knew only of a few families in Wutan City, and the clan leader had the strength of a dou grandmaster. Beyond that, he had never seen anything stronger.

"I thought coming to this world would allow me to experience the joy of becoming a powerful figure."

"Who could have guessed that my Dou Qi would regress instead of advancing? Now, I can't even reach the level of Dou practitioner."

A self-deprecating smile appeared on Xiao Yan's lips as a deep sense of sadness and helplessness welled up in his heart.

Two years ago, he had been so exceptionally gifted, but now, he was completely crushed, his heart filled with despair.

"Fourth stage of Dou disciple! At least it's not the third stage. It seems I have some luck left..."

Suddenly, as Xiao Yan was lost in his melancholic thoughts, a voice filled with surprise rang in his ears, causing him to frown and look up in the direction of the sound.

A handsome young man dressed in black stood before him, his hands behind his back, exuding an air of arrogance.

It was Xie Tianxiao. He had assumed that even in the early stages of the plot, Xiao Yan would have already experienced the engagement annulment.

But to his surprise, the timeline was still a year before Yao Lao had awakened, and Xiao Yan wasn't yet at the third stage of Dou disciple.

This realization filled him with unexpected joy.

"Who are you, and why are you here in the Xiao family's back mountain?"

Seeing Xie Tianxiao in black, Xiao Yan was startled, but he quickly calmed down and asked with a frown. He speculated that this person couldn't possibly be from the Xiao family.

This was the back mountain of the Xiao family, a place that outsiders couldn't easily access except for some of the clan's direct descendants.

"You are Xiao Yan, right? And It doesn't matter who I am. What's important is that I know why your Dou Qi is disappearing."

Xie Tianxiao wore a playful smile as he stared at Xiao Yan and slowly spoke.

"You know me?"

"And you know why my Dou Qi is disappearing!?"

Xiao Yan's eyes suddenly lit up. Although he didn't know who the man in black was, if the man knew the reason behind his condition, then he must also know how to solve it.

He couldn't help it; the disappearance of his Dou Qi was a deep pain in his heart. He couldn't imagine what would happen if it continued to disappear. He might end up becoming a complete waste.

"Indeed, and I can solve this problem."

Xie Tianxiao nodded faintly.

"Then please help me solve it! I'll agree to any conditions you have!"

There really was a solution! Excitement flashed in Xiao Yan's eyes as he urged eagerly. Right now, he desperately needed someone to help him with his Dou Qi problem.

"No rush. First, take this herb and press it against the black ring on your hand."

Seeing Xiao Yan's anxiety, Xie Tianxiao smiled faintly, waved his hand, and a plant resembling a jade-green herb appeared, floating in front of him.

The herb was entirely green, looking as if it was carved from fine jade.

At the top of the plant, a flower with seven different colors was slowly blooming.

As the flower unfurled, the seven colors gradually shifted, making it look incredibly dazzling.

"My ring?"

Xiao Yan was puzzled for a moment, then looked at the beautiful herb in front of him and asked in confusion, "Are you an alchemist?"

"No, but I need an alchemist," Xie Tianxiao shook his head lightly.

"What do you mean?" Xiao Yan asked, puzzled.

"Just do as I say."

Xie Tianxiao didn't directly answer Xiao Yan's question.

"Alright."

Xiao Yan had no choice but to extend his right hand, pressing the ancient ring against the jade-like herb. Then he asked, "What's next?"

"Whoosh!"

Xie Tianxiao flicked his finger, and a black and white flame instantly shot out from his fingertip, enveloping the jade-like herb.

"What kind of technique is this!"

Under Xiao Yan's astonished gaze, the seven-colored flower began to rapidly dissolve under the black and white flames.

It transformed into tiny drops of colorful dew, slowly merging together, forming a brilliant pearl that emitted a multicolored glow.

"What beautiful dew!"

"What is this?"

Xiao Yan was stunned by the scene before him. This bizarre technique seemed almost divine, prompting him to ask in a low voice.

"The herb you saw earlier is called Seven-Phantom Green Spirit Essence, which aids in soul recovery."

"As for the colorful dew, it's the essence I extracted after refining it with the Flames."

Xie Tianxiao explained calmly as he looked at the shocked Xiao Yan.

Xie Tianxiao wasn't an alchemist, but with his spirit at the Spirit Realm and his strength at the half-Saint level, coupled with his mastery of the Yin-Yang twin Flames, extracting the essence from the Seven-Phantom Green Spirit Essence wasn't a difficult task.

Listening to Xie Tianxiao's explanation, Xiao Yan's jaw dropped.

Seven-Phantom Green Spirit Essence?

Yin-Yang Flames?

Refining essence?

What on earth were these things?

These were concepts he had never heard of before, things no one in the Xiao family had ever mentioned. What was going on?
