Chapter 1 - Rian Becker

The Sterling Gallery thrummed with the quiet buzz of cultured conversation and clinking glasses. The formal art showcase had reached its final stretch, with guests moving gracefully between exhibits.

The host, impeccably dressed and exuding an air of polished professionalism, prepared to introduce the evening's concluding artist.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the host's voice carried across the room, "we are delighted to present our final artist of the evening. Please join me in welcoming Rose, who will share the story behind his captivating collection."

The crowd's attention sharpened as Luca, known in the art world as Rose, stepped into the spotlight. His demeanor was cool and aloof, but as he began to discuss his work, a warmth and passion emerged that contrasted sharply with his otherwise distant presence.

"Thank you," Luca began, his voice initially flat but soon imbued with a sincere warmth. "This series explores the delicate dance between light and shadow, aiming to capture themes of vulnerability and resilience. Each piece reflects a journey through emotional depth and personal struggle."

He pointed to his artwork with a gesture that was both precise and expressive, his tone softening as he described each piece.

"This painting, 'Fractured Light,' delves into the balance between illumination and darkness, mirroring the complexities of internal conflict. 'Silent Echoes' embodies the solitude found in introspection, highlighting struggles that are often unspoken. 'Veil of Shadows' contrasts light and dark to symbolize concealed emotional strength.

'Resilient Silence' captures the quiet fortitude discovered in stillness. 'Flickers of Resolve' represents moments of determination amidst chaos. 'Eclipsed Heart' is an abstract depiction of emotional turmoil and the search for light in darkness. 'Waves of Solitude' illustrates the ebb and flow of isolation and connection. Finally, 'Unseen Courage' reveals the hidden strength required to confront personal battles and emerge resilient."

As Luca concluded his description, his warmth faded, and he returned to his previously unapproachable demeanor. The gallery's atmosphere shifted subtly, signaling the transition to more personal interaction.

Rian, a figure of refined authority, approached with a smile. His tailored suit and commanding presence contrasted sharply with Luca's icy exterior.

"Rose," Rian said smoothly, his voice cultured and intent, "your work tonight was exceptional. The depth and subtlety you've achieved are truly remarkable."

Luca's gaze remained aloof, though he acknowledged Rian's comment with a nod. "Thank you. I'm not here to seek approval, but your feedback is noted."

Rian's eyes, however, glinted with intrigue. "I'd be interested in discussing your work further in a more private setting. There's a lounge nearby where we could continue this conversation."

Luca's expression remained impassive as he considered the offer. "I have other engagements this evening. Your proposal is unnecessary."

Rian's smile faltered slightly but remained courteous. "I understand. Should you wish to continue this conversation, you can fine me here."

He smiled as he handed the business card to Lucas

With a curt nod, Luca turned his attention back to packing up his materials. He cast a side glance at Rian who was still staring at him, a faint smile on his lips.

As Luca stepped out of the gallery, he tossed Rian's business card into a nearby trash can. The card fluttered briefly before settling among the other discarded items.

He hailed a taxi and slid into the back seat. The driver nodded as Luca gave his address. The taxi moved smoothly through the city, the lights outside casting shadows across the windows.

The ride was quiet, and Luca stared out at the passing cityscape. The gallery's buzz felt distant, replaced by the steady hum of the taxi.

Arriving at his apartment, Luca paid the driver and got out. He walked through the lobby with a nod to the doorman, who greeted him with a smile. Luca's response was a brief, neutral acknowledgment.

He loosened his tie, a soft sigh escaping his lips as he leaned against the wall. He had met some unexpected people today but this man, Rian Becker gave him the chills.

Ding! The elevator opened as he strolled into his apartment, it was the only one on the floor, peace and quietness were the two things Luca loved the most.

Ding!

System: You received 1.2 million dollars from Sterling corporations!

Ding!

System: 900,000 dollars has been deducted and sent to Mason Hale.

Luca sighed as he placed his phone on the counter, at least he had finally paid of his debts.

They weren't even his to begin with, his bastard father had suddenly disappeared 5 years ago, leaving him to inherit 5.5 million dollars worth of debt.

Through art, he had somehow managed to go to a art university and pay his debt along side.

He made most of his money from selling his art at auctions, most gained him 100 to 300 thousand dollars and the rest used it to take care of his sick mother in the hospital.

"At least she won't have to worry anymore.."

TT: i have a offer for you Mr. Fontaine, I hope you'd at least hear my offer and not toss my business card in the trash like last time.

Luca frowned as he stared at the message, how did heck was this man able to find his socials, they weren't even "Rose's" but his direct contact information.

TT: What do you want from me, Mr. Becker? This is invasion of privacy!

Luca frowned for him to get his contacts, then he was no ordinary person and he was also someone who couldn't afford to lose.

TT: Meet me at Bellevue, 8pm…I'd love to have a nice dinner while we discuss Rose.."
