/perspective shift Dream
Dream paused mid-sentence. After he and Tommy had gotten done with their apologizing, they had immediately gone back to arguing. Philza had sighed, and went back to sit at the table again, and after contributing a few sentences, Wilbur had joined him.
It felt good to argue with Tommy again. As they had when they were younger. Before the Disc War, before L'Manberg, before everything. It was like returning some semblance of normal to their lives, or deaths. That part was confusing right now. Almost everything was confusing right now.
And Dream could tell that Tommy felt better too. It was like therapy.
"Finally given up?" Tommy asked. He thought that Dream going silent meant that Dream was giving up the argument.
"Look behind you," Dream said in response. Tommy did.
Everyone was currently looking at the same person.
Technoblade had arrived. The enderman was with him, but no one really paid it much attention.
Technoblade stood there for a minute, and then he walked over and sat down heavily at the table.
"I need to tell you all something," he said. His low voice prompted everyone to come closer.
There were eight seats at the table. Wilbur and Philza were already seated, along with Technoblade, and Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo, Dream, and the first other Dream all joined them there, while Mexican Dream and the girl Dream, and the enderman, all remained standing.
"I never told you all how I got here," Technobladde said.
"You didn't die?" Dream asked.
"No," Technoblade said. "At least, not in this world."
"He died in my world," the first other Dream said. "He was the Blade in this world only. On the outside, he's just a man."
Technoblade nodded slowly.
"I'm not invincible," he said. "At least, not as most people know the term."
"I had to leave, Dream," Technoblade said, anguish marring his face. "I wanted to stay, but I couldn't."
Then he turned to Philza.
"You still have the message?" Technoblade asked him. Philza nodded.
"Of course, but..." he began.
"Remember what it says about if I don't come back?" Technoblade asked, not letting him finish. Philza took it out of his pocket, and flipped to the end. Then he froze, and the book fell from his hands.
Wilbur, who was sitting next to him, leaned down, and picked the book up off of the ground, where it had fallen, and looked at the words there. He gave no outward response, instead just passing the book along to Tubbo, who, upon reading part of the message, gazed up at Technoblade with wonder.
The first other Dream had been staring open-mouthed at Technoblade the entire time. He clearly knew what the message said.
"You did not," he breathed.
Once the book had made its way all around the table, everyone was staring at Technoblade.
The last line of the message read: "Tell the rest of the SMP that having abolished all government of men, I have ascended to heaven to take on the Kingdom of God."
"That's not possible," Tommy eventually said. "You can't..."
And then he lost his words. He had realized that Technoblade probably could, and had no reason to lie.
"I can," Technoblade said. "And I did."
