Ahneeka was five years old then first time she heard the word hate.
It was on a Thursday, she could vividly recall. And she hadn't grasped the concept of it at that time, neither could she tell the meaning.
She has just returned from school that day and like her routine, had taken her time in putting her uniform and wears away after which she rushed to the kitchen to inform the nannies of the bolts of hunger she felt.
But they weren't the ones leading the cooking that day. It had been her adoptive mother, and so Ahneeka had been scared to say anything to her or even inform her of the hunger that burdened her.
She sat on the floor watching them as they prepared what she wanted while she directed the nannies on the ingredients to add to the cooking and when Ahneeka couldn't control herself anymore, she let it go.
