Pyris wasn't trying to be hero, he would have right way saved his companions first and Lady Nysa, however, as much as he hated it, he couldn't do that.
His three companions were a bit cake for orb and it's grip was stronger, the only was to save them is if he destroyed it, try to save them first thing he knows is them dying.
