I approached the isolated beach where the legendary Master Roshi was said to live, his heart pounding with anticipation.
As I caught sight of the old martial artist lounging under the shade of a palm tree, he dropped into a low, respectful bow, a crisp 90-degree bend at the waist.
"Hello, Master Roshi," I announced, my voice earnest and resolute, rousing the old man from his slumber.
The old hermit grumbled, squinting at Kairos with weary eyes. "Who is this? Master Roshi? Shoo, kid... don't bother an old man."
"Please, Master Roshi!" I insisted, a note of desperation creeping into his voice. "It's my dream to become the greatest martial artist. I want to protect the world in times of crisis. Please, let me be your disciple."
But Master Roshi only yawned, pretending not to hear, sinking deeper into the sand as he turned a deaf ear to the boy's pleas.
I bit back a sigh, my mind racing. If respect and persistence wouldn't get the old man's attention, then maybe something else would.
Thinking of this ,a sly grin spread across my face. "Master Roshi, I've got the newest issue of Girlie Mag – one that hasn't even hit the market yet…"
Master Roshi's eyes shot open, his face lighting up with a spark that no amount of training or begging had ignited. "What? Boy, hand it over! Quick!"
I chuckled, holding the magazine just out of reach. "Only if you agree to train me, Master."
The old man narrowed his eyes. "You think you can bribe me with that? Not a chance! I'm not that easily swayed…"
But as the scent of freshly printed pages drifted closer, Master Roshi's willpower began to crumble. A bead of sweat rolled down his brow, and his gaze lingered longingly on the cover.
I upped the ante, pulling out not one, but three additional magazines. Master Roshi's mouth dropped, his eyes widening in a mix of awe and excitement. "Three more…?"
"Only if you agree to train me," I repeated.
Master Roshi scratched his head, struggling to hide his growing excitement. "Well… fine. But don't expect it to be easy!" His expression shifted into a devious smirk as he thought, I'll make this training so grueling he'll give up within a week, and I'll keep those magazines!
Master Roshi straightened and cleared his throat. "We'll start in an hour, but be prepared. The training will be intense."
I nodded eagerly. "Yes, Master Roshi!"
After an hour, the two stood on the beach, facing each other. The sun was high, casting a warm glow over the sand. Master Roshi eyed Kairos critically, assessing the boy's stance and composure.
"Let's see what you're made of. Show me your strength," he challenged. "I need to judge what I'm working with."
I clenched my fists, my body humming with adrenaline. "Understood, Master."
Roshi tilted his head, grinning. "Then fight me."
As the words left Roshi's mouth, I surged forward with all my strength, sprinting at an impressive speed of 20 km/hr.
I threw a powerful punch toward the old man's chest, but Master Roshi sidestepped with uncanny speed, moving like a shadow in the bright sunlight. My fist cut through the air, hitting nothing.
"Whoa!" I muttered, stunned. Roshi's movements were impossibly fast for someone of his age. He dodged every strike, every attempted kick, leaving me stumbling as I tried to keep up.
Frustrated, I pushed harder, but it was like trying to catch the wind. Master Roshi's movements were graceful and deceptively effortless, a dance of agility and power.
With a sudden, shocking display, the old man steadied himself and unleashed a powerful burst of energy, chanting, "Kamehameha!"
A brilliant wave of energy blasted forth, leaving Kairos gasping in awe. The wave's force crashed through the air, making the ground tremble.
As the attack dissipated, I stood motionless, the enormity of Roshi's power dawning on him, seeing this move on television was one thing and seeing it on real life is another thing , my body didn't react at all .
The fight ended with Roshi lowering his hands, victorious yet looking at Kairos with newfound respect.
"Have you trained under someone before, boy?" Roshi asked, his voice softened.
"No, Master," I replied, catching my breath. "I just started running and working out daily since I was eleven."
Roshi's stern face softened with a hint of admiration. "Hmph. Not bad. You have potential, kid. And… I suppose having someone around wouldn't be so boring."
I beamed, my excitement barely contained. "Master Roshi, what was that last move you used?"
Roshi chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "That, my boy, was the Kamehameha wave."
My jaw dropped, awe filling his gaze(acting). "Wow! I can't believe you'll teach me all this."
"Oh, it'll take time and a lot of hard work," Roshi warned with a sly grin. "But if you're ready for it, we'll start tomorrow. Now, get some rest."
I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation for the days to come.
