Chapter 237 - Chapter 237 The Corrupt Lawyer

Before long, Lin Hao checked the time, grabbed his equipment, and returned to the medical room to examine Chu Tian. After completing the check-up, everything seemed normal. Without much small talk, Lin Hao gave a few casual reminders and was about to leave when Chu Xiaotian suddenly called out, "Xiao Lin, how many years have you been on my medical team?"

Lin Hao blinked and replied, "Four or five years."

"A medical prodigy trained in the U.S., spending your days by the side of an old man like me—don't you feel it's a waste of your talent?" Lin Hao smiled, "With my qualifications, even if I earned a million a year, that would be the limit. You've given me far more than that. How could I feel it's a waste?"

Chu Xiaotian's expression didn't change, his cloudy eyes staring directly at Lin Hao as he suddenly asked, "When did you go abroad?"

Lin Hao was momentarily stunned before replying, "I was admitted straight after high school. It's been almost ten years."

"Such talent," Chu Xiaotian sighed. "I know I don't have much time left. After I'm gone, you can take up a position at one of Chu Men's hospitals. You're young, but with your qualifications, no one would question you being a vice president."

Lin Hao was taken aback by the compliment and quickly bowed, "Thank you, Chairman!"

At the same time, Ye Yongsheng, who was enduring his days in the detention center and awaiting final judgment, had just met with his lawyer and returned to his cell in low spirits. During this time, he had hired lawyers and exhausted every connection he had, but either they refused to help, or they passed the responsibility along, unwilling to touch his case.

As the saying goes, a camel dying of hunger is still bigger than a horse, but it depends on whose hand it dies in.

None of those big shots wanted to bring trouble upon themselves, and more importantly, they didn't want to offend the Chu family. Who would bother with a drowning dog like him?

Hope grew thinner by the day, but the charge of murder by firearm carried a heavy sentence.

What pained him even more was watching his life's hard-earned empire slowly slip away, his son tragically killed by someone else, and the blood feud of his shattered family would only be avenged in the afterlife.

Just as he was filled with grief and anger, a prison guard came to relay a message: "Ye, your lawyer wants to see you again."

This guard had been paid off handsomely, so his tone was naturally kind.

Ye Yongsheng frowned. They had just met not ten minutes ago—could something important have been forgotten?

But he doubted any good news awaited him. It was likely just another blow dealt by Chu Zhiqing.

"D*mn b*st*rd, if I were still outside, I'd rip you apart alive!" Ye Yongsheng cursed under his breath, rising to meet the lawyer.

However, when he saw who was waiting for him, he froze on the spot.

It wasn't his lawyer standing there, but a young man with a buzz cut.

But this man was indeed a lawyer, and Ye Yongsheng knew exactly who he was—Cui Zhe, a man working for Chu Haoran. In fact, even without the reputation of Chu Haoran behind him, Cui Zhe was already well-known in the legal world.

This legal prodigy, who had studied abroad, carved a niche for himself after returning to China by exclusively representing organized crime cases. Under his defense, gangsters often received the lightest possible sentences, and in some classic cases, he had even won acquittals. Though notorious, his fame grew, and he naturally became a part of Chu Men's legal team.

Such talent was rare, and Chu Haoran greatly admired him. The two became close, even like brothers.

"Mr. Ye, I suppose there's no need for an introduction," Cui Zhe said with a faint smile.

After his initial shock, Ye Yongsheng forced a smile, "Of course, who wouldn't have heard of you, Lawyer Cui?"

"Cut the crap," Cui Zhe didn't mince words. "I'm here to discuss something with you."

"Did Chu Haoran send you? Hmph... What could we possibly have to discuss?"

Cui Zhe replied, "First, let me confirm—do you know who killed your son?"

Ye Yongsheng clenched his fists. His lawyer had previously told him that Ye Tianyi went to seek revenge at Chu Yuxuan's house and then disappeared.

Wasn't it obvious who the murderer was?

What he didn't know, however, was that Ye Tianyi had actually been killed by Chu Haoran.

That day, Chu Haoran had tracked Ye Tianyi all the way to Chu Yuxuan's underground garage, proving he had been following Ye Tianyi for some time.

The reason he didn't strike earlier was because he wanted not only to kill Ye Tianyi but also to shift the blame onto Chu Yuxuan, so Ye Yongsheng would believe that it was Chu Yuxuan who murdered his son.

Now, hearing Cui Zhe bring up this heart-wrenching incident again, Ye Yongsheng forced himself to stay calm and said grimly, "Looks like your Chu family's infighting has escalated. Is Chu Haoran planning to take down his uncle?"

Instead of answering, Cui Zhe asked another question, "Let me confirm one more thing—do you know how much of Ye Corporation Chu Zhiqing has already swallowed up?"

Ye Yongsheng snapped, "Don't give me your lawyer speak. I don't need you to tell me! Just say it—what do you want from me?"

Cui Zhe nodded and got straight to the point. "Tell those loyal board members of yours to hand over your Yongsheng Investment Company to Chu Haoran."

Ye Yongsheng's eyes widened, and he sneered, "That's my core company, and you just want me to hand it over? Ha! Chu Zhiqing is stuck on that hard nut right now, unable to bite into it. You tell me, why should I give it up to you? What makes Chu Haoran any better than Chu Zhiqing?"

"You seem confident in your people," Cui Zhe's eyes turned mocking as he opened his briefcase and pulled out a few photos, laying them in front of Ye Yongsheng. "The female CEO of Yongsheng Investment is your mistress, and the financial officer is your cousin. Well, here they are, sleeping together. Want to guess if they're plotting how to transfer your assets while staying in your mansion and sleeping in your bed?"

Ye Yongsheng stared at the explicit photos, speechless.

A natural-born cuckold—it was fate.

"Wretched woman! I won't let her live through tonight!"

"Don't be stupid," Cui Zhe said. "Even those shady hitmen of yours, or the lawyer you just met, have already been bought by them. What you're hearing now is only what they want you to hear. So let me tell you the real news: half of your brothers who fought with you to build Ye Corporation have already been won over by Chu Zhiqing. I bet in less than ten days, Yongsheng Investment will carry the Chu name."

He then placed a stack of documents in front of Ye Yongsheng, detailing how his mistress and cousin had been siphoning assets from Ye Corporation.

"Is that clear enough?" Cui Zhe smiled. "I suggest you make a decision soon, before they squander the entire company's funds. Time isn't on your side."
