Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Three days later, it was my funeral.

Fabian was naturally kept out.

But he still came, bowing outside my memorial hall and crying for two whole days.

My mother–in–law and Bruce thought the abusive messages were suspicious and called the police.

The police acted quickly and found out in a few days that it was Layla's cousin who stole my account and sent those messages pretending to be me.

During the interrogation, Layla's cousin begged for mercy, even implicating Layla in pushing Bruce into the water.

She said Layla bragged afterward that she would marry into a wealthy family. To prevent being robbed of the family fortune, she acted early and pushed her boyfriend's brother into the sea.

Although he didn't die, he became a vegetable, which was considered achieving the goal.

The case was too old and lacked substantial evidence, so it ended up unresolved.

On the day Layla was released, Fabian waited outside the detention center and forced her into a car.

He took her up the winding mountain road to the highest point.

Then, pressing the accelerator to the floor, he sped towards the railing.

Amid the screams, both the car and its occupants went over the edge.

Before plunging to the bottom of the cliff, I looked at Fabian in the back seat.

He closed his eyes with a calm smile on his face.

He said, "Lucy, I'm sorry. In this life, I've failed you.

"Wait for me, in the next life, let me love you to death, okay?"

I shook my head slightly behind him.

"Fabian, in the next life, the life after that, and forever, I hope we never meet again!"
