"Vale, are you sure you want to refine yourself?" In the containment room of "SCP-914," Brit looked at Vale with a solemn expression.
RT, who had already let go, and Kiwo and Plumbella were all watching Vale worriedly. The machine is too mysterious; judging from the test records, the "Very Fine" refinement of living people is unpredictable. If you rush to "Very Fine" refine yourself, no one knows what kind of dreadful situation will occur.
"Hmm! It must process." Vale looked at Brit and nodded, a strong determination evident in his expression. After finishing his statement, he sighed slightly.
"Hey, I'm not crazy, but I want to beat the game quickly..." Vale looked at the machine next to him and continued, "We have read the test records. According to the literal meaning, it can be deduced that if a living person is 'Very Fine,' it is likely to create a monster."
"This monster is very powerful; otherwise, the test records would not say that it killed so many people and destroyed so many facilities. However, the test records did not detail this monster, such as whether it possesses reason or if there are any changes in appearance, etc. So, I want to conduct a test. If my strength is boosted and my sanity is preserved after 'Very Fine' refinement, then our journey may become much easier."
"Of course, doing so must be accompanied by great risks, but I have already made preparations, and I am willing to take any risks." Having said that, Vale suddenly raised his eyebrows and smiled. "I wanted to try it before, but I didn't have a chance. So I have to do it today. Don't stop me, Brit."
After Vale finished speaking, the others fell into a deep silence. They understood what Vale meant; he wanted to use himself as a test subject to give the team the greatest chance of beating the game. For a time, the group was a little moved.

The viewers in the stream were also moved, and the chat was non-stop:
"Damn, Vale is a real man."
"😭 A man with such courage."
"Who knows what will happen after refining? Vale is so strong."
"I'm a fan of you, Vale."
"Ahem! I feel that besides helping the team, Vale probably wants to satisfy his curiosity. After all, he wanted to try it before!"
"Hahaha..."

In the game.
After being silent for a while, Brit patted Vale on the shoulder. "Okay, I support you!"
Kiwo and the others also nodded heavily. "We support you too!"
Vale suddenly smiled brighter. He took off all his equipment and handed it to Brit and the others. Then he gestured for the group to wait outside the containment room because no one knew what would happen to a living person after refining; it was safer for Brit and the others to stay away.
The group did not hesitate and immediately exited the containment chamber.
"Okay, after the processing is over, if I behave incorrectly, you should swipe your card to close the door immediately and run away," Vale said loudly.
Brit gave an "OK" gesture and the others had serious expressions on their faces.
"Okay, here I go!" Vale also made an "OK" gesture, then turned around and entered the machine.
He first adjusted the knob to the "Very Fine" setting and then gave the "spring" full power. After doing this, Vale immediately rushed to the "input" compartment next to the machine.
Before the compartment door was closed, Vale gave a thumbs-up to the others outside the containment room. Brit also returned the thumbs-up.
"Wait for me to turn into a Superhuman!" Vale yelled. Then the door of the compartment closed.
Standing in the dark cubicle, Vale took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. He was naturally terrified of using himself as a guinea pig, but as he had said, if his vision worked, then he could contribute to the team. At that point, they might be able to beat the game very quickly and successfully get the early beta quota.
Of course, there was another reason for doing this: it satisfied his curiosity. He wanted to see how this amazing machine would improve a living person.
After the compartment door closed, Vale soon felt the vibration of the machine. There was no doubt that the machine had officially started its operation, and Vale couldn't help but tense up. It was dark inside the compartment, so he couldn't see anything.
Breathing out again, Vale prepared himself for any horrible things that might happen at any time. But soon, Vale realized he seemed to be overthinking; the machine didn't run for long before it quickly stopped.
During the process, Vale didn't find anything terrible; he just felt a faint difference in his body. And within a few seconds after the machine stopped, Vale saw the compartment door in front of him open automatically.
"Damn, is this it?" Vale was stunned.
Then he saw the others outside the gate of the containment room, looking at him warily.
Vale subconsciously touched his face and then looked at his body. "Nothing has changed."
Confused, Brit outside the door spoke, "Vale? Are you still conscious?"
Vale looked up and found the group still nervous.
"Yeah-! Brit, why are you looking at me like this... Damn, do I have horns?!" Vale suddenly thought of something and hastily reached up to touch his head. The imaginary horn did not exist either. "I don't have horns..."
The others outside the gate felt a little relieved when they saw Vale speaking normally, and they entered the containment room.
Plumbella was the first to speak: "Vale, your eyes are so red, almost completely red..."
The others all nodded.
"Yes! Very red!"
"Yes, nothing else has changed except that your eyes have become very red."
"Damn! Red eyes are so gorgeous!"
Vale blinked when he heard these words. Without a mirror, he couldn't see his eyes.
"Does 'Very Fine' make the eyes red? Nothing else changes?" Vale muttered, feeling skeptical. He clenched his fist and discovered his strength had changed.
"Wait a moment!" Vale said. He then approached the wall of the containment room, aimed, and punched it!
Boom-!
The entire wall vibrated, and cobweb-like cracks spread around the contact point.
"I... Damn!" The group was stunned, their faces full of disbelief.
Vale himself was taken aback! He stared at his fist, stunned for a few seconds, then turned around, his face full of excitement. "Bro, I've become a Superhuman."
