Chapter 184 - the battle against the mythical Djinns(4)

The cavern shook violently as Duke, now engulfed in fiery orange flames, faced off against the Djinn of Pride. The oppressive heat radiating from both combatants warped the air, creating a battlefield drenched in light and chaos.

Djinn of Pride:

"Impressive. Your flames are stronger than most mortals I've faced. But strength without control is meaningless."

Duke tightened his grip on his sword, the orange fire around him roaring in defiance. His once-tired expression was now filled with steely determination, his body rejuvenated by the raw energy of his transformation.

Duke:

"You can talk all you want, but my flames aren't just for show. You'll see soon enough."

The Djinn of Pride laughed, the sound reverberating through the cavern like a crack of thunder. It raised both hands, conjuring a massive firestorm that surged forward with a deafening roar.

Djinn of Pride:

"Let's see if your newfound strength can withstand this!"

Duke planted his feet firmly, his aura flaring brighter. With a fierce battle cry, he swung his sword upward, creating a fiery arc that collided with the firestorm. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the cavern, the ground beneath them fracturing as the two forces clashed.

Sparks and embers filled the air, dancing like fireflies in the chaos. Duke surged forward, his sword glowing with a blinding orange light. He closed the distance between himself and the Djinn with a speed that surprised even the ancient entity.

Duke:

"Infernal Blade – Serpent Strike!"

His sword slashed in a fluid motion, sending a flaming serpent spiraling toward the Djinn. The attack struck true, wrapping around the Djinn's torso and burning with unrelenting fury.

Djinn of Pride:

"A clever trick, but it won't be enough!"

With a burst of golden flames, the Djinn shattered the serpent, stepping forward as if unscathed. Duke gritted his teeth, his mind racing as he prepared his next move.

The Djinn raised its arms, summoning a massive orb of fire above its head. The flames within the orb churned and twisted, their heat intensifying with each passing second.

Djinn of Pride:

"Bow before the flames of true pride!"

The orb came crashing down, the sheer heat causing the stone floor to melt. Duke leapt to the side, narrowly avoiding the impact. The explosion sent a shockwave that threw him against the cavern wall.

Duke:

"Damn it… it's like this thing has no limit!"

Duke lay on the ground, his body bruised and battered. His flames flickered weakly, the transformation beginning to falter. The Djinn of Pride approached him slowly, its aura as overwhelming as ever.

Djinn of Pride:

"This is the end, mortal. You fought well, but your flames pale in comparison to mine."

As the Djinn raised a hand to deliver the final blow, Duke's vision blurred. Time seemed to slow as a flood of memories surged through his mind. He saw his wife's gentle smile, the way she used to hum softly while tending to their home. He saw his young daughter, giggling as she ran through the fields. And then he saw his son—Dakota—standing tall, determined, with the same fire in his eyes that burned within Duke now.

His heart ached with longing and love, but also with a fiery resolve.

Wife's Voice (in memory):

"Duke, promise me you'll protect them, no matter what."

Dakota's Voice (in memory):

"I'll make you proud, Dad. I'll become someone strong, just like you."

Duke's eyes snapped open, the flickering flames around him roaring back to life. His body radiated with a heat so intense that the air itself seemed to burn.

Duke:

"I made a promise. And I'll never break it."

The Djinn of Pride stopped, its expression shifting to one of confusion.

Djinn of Pride:

"What is this…?"

Duke pushed himself to his feet, his aura exploding outward in a fiery burst. His orange flames turned a brilliant white, their heat so intense that the cavern walls began to crack and crumble. His entire body seemed to glow, the fire enveloping him like a second skin.

Duke:

"This is my resolve. This is the power of a man who refuses to give up!"

The Djinn took a step back, its confidence wavering for the first time.

Djinn of Pride:

"Impossible… such power… from a mortal?!"

Duke's voice boomed through the cavern, his determination palpable.

Duke:

"Flame Transformation – Stage 2!"

He raised his sword, which now shone like a blade forged from pure fire. The ground beneath him shattered as he launched himself forward, moving faster than the Djinn could react.

Duke:

"Infernal Blade – Burning Judgment!"

His sword came crashing down, releasing a devastating wave of white flames. The Djinn raised its arms to block the attack, but the sheer force sent it skidding backward. The flames burned brighter, pushing the Djinn to its limits.

Djinn of Pride:

"No… I won't lose to you!"

It retaliated with a surge of golden fire, the two energies clashing violently. The cavern shook as the battle reached new heights, the walls beginning to collapse under the strain.

Duke:

"You're not unbeatable. And I'm not backing down!"

The two combatants clashed again and again, their flames lighting up the cavern like a second sun. Despite the overwhelming heat and destruction, Duke's resolve never faltered.

As the battle raged on, the Djinn of Pride began to show signs of exhaustion. Its movements grew slower, its attacks less precise. Meanwhile, Duke's flames burned brighter, fueled by his unyielding determination.

Djinn of Pride:

"How… how are you still standing?!"

Duke smirked, his eyes burning with resolve.

Duke:

"Because I'm fighting for more than just myself. I'm fighting for my family. For my promise. And for the people who believe in me."

He raised his sword once more, the white flames surging to new heights.

Duke:

"This ends now!"

With a powerful swing, he unleashed a massive wave of fire that engulfed the Djinn, pushing it to its knees. The cavern trembled as the attack shook the very foundation of the dungeon.

Djinn of Pride:

"You… mortal… this isn't over…"

The Djinn's voice was strained, its once-mighty aura flickering. But Duke knew the fight wasn't won yet. He steadied his breathing, preparing for the next phase of the battle.
