-Tridente City, Xebel, Atlantis
-19 February 2003
Namor returned to Xebel late at night, around 5 a.m, naturally he dissolved his transformation as Captain Marvel and returned to his normal atlantean body.
Within a single day, he transformed into Captain Marvel, had traveled and strolled the entire continent and, unknown to him, had also become a well-known name throughout America. From fighting a dangerous reptilian creature in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, to stopping robberies in Nunavut, Canada.
…..
Within 3 hours Namor was back to his daily routine of mandatory military training. He didn't even sleep, but since receiving Shazam's powers he found that the basic need to sleep had completely disappeared, yet he wouldn't deny that even if he didn't need to sleep the temptation to take a nap just for the sake of sleeping was still present.
Today, during mandatory military service, Commander Kratos split the new recruits into different units in Xebel. In these units, they received additional training in survival skills, combat simulations, advanced tactics, use of specific weapons, numerous field exercises, basic emergency medical operations on the battlefield, and finally, casualty evacuation.
The training was very intense, and honestly, Namor wasn't cut out for it, unlike his new atlantean friend Atticus, who seemed to thrive on the intensity of the new exercises. But even with his above-average atlantean physique, Atticus found the exercises exhausting... so if Atticus ended up merely tired, Namor was practically dead…, utterly exhausted and in a terrible state.
However, Namor managed to push through, as he didn't have many options. Naturally, he never excelled like Atticus or other atlanteans, but that didn't bother him as much anymore since he was more focused on magic and his progress in it.
Although he still couldn't do much, he had at least learned one very useful and impressive spell that allowed him to create a large water tornado. But to cast it, he needed to use a small version, like a wand, of the Staff of the Gods. Namor had found an ancient book detailing how to modify the appearance of the staff, and since he had always liked Harry Potter when he was Adam, he decided to modify the staff to look like a wizard's wand from HP. It was so much better than carrying around a huge staff.
As for the water tornado spell, it was extremely useful and powerful. He had managed to learn it only because atlanteans had a greater aptitude for learning aquatic spells, and obviously, the miniature version, the wand, of the Staff of the Gods was essential for him to succeed. The staff not only made it easier to use magic and cast spells but also significantly amplified the power of his spells.
Therefore, at least by using the Staff of the Gods, he was able to perform some pretty incredible magic as Namor... For now, he considered this water tornado spell his ace up his sleeve without relying on his transformation as Captain Marvel.
…..
...
After today's new and much more intense training, which Namor was sure they had scheduled on purpose right after their first day off, he went to his room and, with his staff now turned wand, he muttered wearily the magic word: "Enternus!"
Immediately, he disappeared from his room in a flash of light and reappeared in the Rock of Eternity.
"Shazam!" he said once inside the Rock and transformed into Captain Marvel.
"Ah, yeah, this is exactly what I needed… it's always a pleasure to feel this rush of energy. It's fantastic," he said, taking a deep breath of satisfaction as all his fatigue from the grueling training vanished instantly, making him feel great. One of the best perks of turning into Captain Marvel was exactly that. But the transformation was like a highly addictive drug—once you've tasted it, you couldn't help but want it constantly. The sheer sensation of power combined with a perfect body was hard to resist. There were days when he didn't want to go back to being Namor, preferring instead to stay as Captain Marvel, who also resembled his old self.
Yeah... every time he transformed into Captain Marvel, echoes of his former human self, Adam, came back to haunt his mind. The blending of identities made him question which part of him was real: was Namor, the Atlantean fighter, who he really was, or was he being seduced by the remnants of his past life, the temptation to return to what he once was, but with more power than he had ever imagined?
It was hard. But so far, he had managed to keep those urges in check.
....
Feeling refreshed now, he took the opportunity to search for the gateways that should have appeared after he had used magical runes yesterday to create access points in several countries across the Americas, allowing him to travel there from the Rock of Eternity.
But when he reached the Hall of the Doors, where these new gates were supposed to be, he realized a small detail he hadn't considered… The place was filled with doors, probably leading to all sorts of places across the entire damn universe, and he didn't want to accidentally walk into somewhere unprepared—that would be a nightmare.
So, instead, he made the smart and safe decision to consult the magic quill from the Library of Eternity to learn more about these doors.
Luckily, after some time poring over various books, he found out where the doors that led to planets within just the Milky Way were located and decided to explore only those.
However, even though he was able to figure out the area where the doors leading to different locations within the Milky Way were, he couldn't get any info on which specific doors went to the spots he had marked with magical runes on Earth. The Hall of Doors only categorized by galaxies, not by planets, much less sectors within those planets.
For a moment, Namor thought he would have to manually search for which doors led to the places he wanted to go.
But then, he discovered that with his magic, he could detect which magic was more recent and which was older, allowing him to identify which doors were imbued with magic recently—meaning they were the ones he had created.
With a smile, he headed to one of the doors, and as soon as he stepped through it, he reappeared at the Hollywood Sign...
...
As he stepped through the door, the air changed suddenly. The dry heat of Los Angeles hit him immediately, accompanied by the light scent of pine and warm earth. On the horizon, the mix of smog and clear skies left an orange hue that bathed the city beneath his feet. A warm, lingering breeze caressed his Atlantean skin. Now he stood on a dusty hill marked by the iconic letters: Hollywood.
'Now that's convenient' he thought with a grin, realizing how easy it had been to get back to the place he wanted to go just by using a door.
Deciding to keep testing the other doors, he returned to the Rock of Eternity after saying "Enternus!"
And so, he started trying out door after door.
"It's impressive, no doubt" Namor muttered to himself.
'To be able to move through space like it's nothing....'
'But at the same time, it reminds me how tiny I am in all this.'
'Yep, every time I open one of those doors, it becomes clear how insignificant the laws of physics or everything else are when you have enough power'
...
Once Namor was done with all that, he simply wanted to leave the Rock of Eternity… but things didn't go as planned since he ended up in Bogotá, Colombia, the last place he had visited using the doors he had created before saying "Enternus" to return to the Rock, rather than back in his dorm room in Tridente City.
Because of this, he had to make his own way back from Colombia to Tridente City… and now he'd have to come up with some excuse, some believable explanation, as to how he had managed to sneak out without anyone noticing. Naturally, that was going to be a headache.
'I'm gonna have to create some magical runes so I can get back to my own room, too' he thought, now that he knew when he left the Rock, he always returned to the last place he had been before entering it. Apparently, this included the destinations he traveled to using the Hall of Doors.
