Chereads / Infinite Adaptation in the Apocalypse / Chapter 21 - Ready For Tomorrow

Chapter 21 - Ready For Tomorrow

"What a mess of skills," I thought, staring at the cluttered list displayed on my status window. As I was examining my status window my eyes soon drifted to my stats. They were far beyond what I had ever imagined.

"Why am I even trying to obtain more skills when my stats alone could crush most threats?"

I couldn't help but wonder just how broken my [Infinite Adaptation] truly was. "Am I pushing past the limits too quickly?" The thought weighed on me as I reflected on the fights I had since I first awakened.

"Maybe I'm growing too strong, too fast," I thought deeply, my gaze on the vastly different status window before me. It was a stark contrast to the weak, struggling hunter I had once been, but now, I was overflowing with power.

"Well... I should make the most of this," I thought, determined not to waste the gift I had been given, whether it came from God or some higher force. I wasn't about to squander the immense potential at my disposal.

"Now that I'm looking at it, I don't have that many skills," I thought, staring at the status window. "Most of my power came from sheer luck... or circumstances... or something else. I don't even know what to call it." The more I thought about it, the more it became clear that my rise to power wasn't exactly a result of grinding or strategic growth. It just....happened. "At this point, I don't even know if I'm lucky or cursed."

"I should get to work," I reminded myself, shaking off the lingering doubts. There was no point in overthinking it. Whether it was luck, fate, or something else that propelled me forward, I had to keep moving. Time to make use of what I had and keep pushing ahead.

I skimmed through the already short list of skills I had, searching for those that could be combined. "All this effort to unlock [Skill Combine], and now I'm falling short on the actual skills to merge," I thought, frustration creeping in.

"Have I really gathered all the skills that should be acquirable through [Infinite Adaptation], or am I missing something?" I thought deeply, mentally retracing my steps, trying to remember if there were any overlooked skills or abilities that I had aimed for but somehow forgotten.

I dismissed the thought, realizing I had been overthinking lately. There was no point in getting caught up in uncertainties. Instead, I focused on the next task.

"What should be my next course of action?" I thought, staring at the dimly lit surroundings of the dungeon. The eerie silence echoed around me, a stark reminder that I had been here for hours, lost in my own thoughts and plans.

"First, I should clear this dungeon," I decided, the weight of time settling in. There was no point in staying in this dungeon any longer.

The status window faded away as I willed it to disappear. Without hesitation, I began to float, my body lifting effortlessly off the ground as I headed toward the lair of the Boss monster. The air felt thicker, heavier, as I neared the heart of the dungeon, but my focus was unwavering.I arrived in front of huge rocky lair.

"Demolish!" I roared, activating all skills in my arsenal at once.

Booom!!!!!

A massive explosion erupted, tearing through the clouds. It was the biggest explosion I had ever seen. The impact was so severe that I had to shield myself with [Telekinetic Control].

Even if I hadn't protected myself, the explosion wouldn't have affected me, but I had to shield my clothes since I didn't bring a spare set.

"That's expected," I exclaimed, patting myself on the head and feeling proud of my display of power.

When the dust settled, three shining objects revealed themselves, shimmering at the bottom of the crater.

I quickly floated down to the crater. As I landed on the rough terrain, I saw a skill book, a mana stone, and a furred cape. I picked up the furred cape to check its description.

The cape was oddly beautiful… but only for someone with a taste for being dramatic. "If I were reincarnated in an old medieval fantasy world, I'd definitely wear it, but now it would just feel cringe."

-----

Item: Tilaag's Cape(A)

Description:Increases Defense and speed by 70%

After examining the cape, I picked up the skill book and mana stone, sliding both into my backpack. I chose not to absorb the skill book because I didn't feel the need to.

The A-rank skill book would fetch quite a lot of money, and with that, my main objective was to buy as many E-rank skills as possible to raise the proficiency of [Skill Union], of course.

I quickly took the cape and put it in my backpack. By the way, my backpack was still floating above me. As for the mana stones I had collected from previous dungeons, I just stored them in my apartment since I never had a chance to sell them.

Normal dungeons disappear after the boss monster is killed, but field-type and floor-type dungeons do not. What makes field-type dungeons special is that once the boss monster is defeated, the environment is cleansed of corrupted mana and filled with pure mana after a day or two. This makes it a suitable place to grow many things.

The things grown inside a field-type dungeon in the presence of pure mana act as potions. In this way, potions are made from the plants grown in a cleansed field-type dungeon. Once all the mana is absorbed by the plants, the dungeon collapses. This is why big guilds fight tooth and nail to acquire even a single field-type dungeon

I quickly left the dungeon. As I emerged, a sudden barrage of flashes startled me.

"Mr. Zephyr, how are you feeling after clearing the dungeons?" asked Reporter 1.

"What are your thoughts on the upcoming tournament?" asked Reporter 2.

I was overwhelmed by the crowd of reporters, with more and more swarming toward me. I quickly activated [Flight] and floated into the sky, leaving all the reporters with their mouths agape. "Maybe I was too rash to reveal my powers so early," I thought, realizing I hadn't considered the burden of dealing with popularity.

"Hey, catch him, he is flying away!

"Waoo, he really is flying."

I ignored the reporters and quickly flew toward my apartment. I quickly landed at my apartment, repeated my routine, and freshened up. "I should sell the mana stones after all," I gasped, seeing that half of my apartment was filled with them.

"Tomorrow it is then."
