Chereads / Passion (Yuuji) Volume 1 / Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

The table was hit and shattered. This time, the debris did not harm him because it was blocked by the pillar.

"Three bullets, if you still don't hit, you die."

Riegrow smiled as if he was enjoying himself, his lips curling up. Jeong Taeui looked around, trying to approach the man from behind. Gunshots rang out twice in quick succession.

"One more." Jeong Taeui muttered, looking around the now devastated restaurant.

The man and Riegrow were only a few meters apart. Sweat was pouring down the man's neck, while Riegrow remained calm and smiling.

Riegrow picked up a large piece of wood and threw it at the man, but the man reflexively ducked to avoid it. The piece of wood flew close to the man's head and made a whistling sound.

It was then that Jeong Taeui felt his chance had come.

As the man bent down, Riegrow lunged forward. It all happened almost simultaneously.

The man saw the devil charging towards him with a joyful smile on his face.

Gunshots rang out again, causing the ground to shake. Jeong Taeui felt his ears ring from the sound of gunfire. He opened his eyes and saw the scene before him.

Riegrow grabbed the man's wrist, twisting it and sending the bullet flying toward the ceiling, fragments beginning to fall. Riegrow's other hand grabbed the man's neck, pressing hard against the carotid artery.

"Oh no, missed." Riegrow chuckled softly, speaking softly.

His voice echoed in the quiet space so that everyone understood. He intended to break the man's wrist and make the last bullet go into the man's head.

The man looked at Riegrow with wide eyes. His hand slowly tightened around the man's neck.

"See you in the next life," Riegrow said, his smile soft. But his fingers tightened.

Right then.

"Let go," a voice said.

Jeong Taeui stood behind Riegrow, holding a Colt aimed at the back of his neck.

Riegrow paused, still strangling the man. He slowly turned around, exposing his neck to the barrel of the gun, and smiled faintly.

"If you shoot that close, your hand will get hurt too."

"Don't move. I'd rather lose my arm than my life." Jeong Taeui replied, his grip tightening.

"I was wrong. I don't like fools who put themselves in danger to act like heroes."

He smiled faintly.

"Don't move." Jeong Taeui repeated.

He clenched his fist around the gun, not blinking, focusing on Riegrow's every little movement. All the while, he was scolding himself in his heart.

"What good is dying because of an idiot, why am I so stubborn like this. I'm really digging my own grave."

Jeong Taeui felt so angry at the current situation that he just wanted to bite his tongue. But things had happened, and he was determined to see it through. Although he felt that even if he smashed his head, he could still come back to life like a zombie, that scared him.

Riegrow chuckled, shrugging sarcastically.

"Ha ha, what to do…."

He whispered as if he was facing a difficulty, slowly releasing his hand from the man's neck. Jeong Taeui seemed overly tense, every movement of his hand made him cringe.

Even without anyone having to say it, Jeong Taeui understood the meaning of the phrase "What should I do?" which meant: What should I do with this newcomer?

He clenched his fist around the gun.

Just one moment of carelessness, that will be the moment of losing life.

When Riegrow completely let go of the man's neck.

The man, who was about to faint, opened his bloodshot eyes and began to scream.

"Shoot! Shoot now! Shoot!"

Along with that scream, Jeong Taeui, who was so nervous that Riegrow's every little movement almost made him pull the trigger, almost fired. Facing the man who was risking his life to save him and still screaming so loudly, Jeong Taeui could not hold back his emotions for a moment.

"… Two crazy people have met so perfectly. If you want to die, I will block it for you, right? Kid, if I survive, you will pay for this action."

As Jeong Taeui said that, Riegrow seemed to be about to let go of Louis' hand, but suddenly smiled lightly and lifted his heels off the ground.

Immediately, a bad feeling came over me.

At that time…

"What is everyone doing?"

A cold voice rang out from behind. The sound of strong footsteps approached the door. Jeong Taeui, who was about to pull the trigger, stopped and turned his head towards it.

He arrived. Behind him was the old driver. When Jeong Taeui saw his face, he couldn't help but let out a "Sob".

The uncle, with an expressionless face, glanced around a bit and then walked towards them empty-handed. When he saw Jeong Taeui holding the Colt, he frowned.

"This area prohibits the possession of personal weapons. Jeong Taeui, don't you know?"

"… I know."

"Whose is it?"

"… It's mine."

"Yours. If you say so, then fine. Go to the training room immediately."

When the uncle finished speaking, Jeong Taeui hesitated for a moment. Riegrow was still standing in front of him, the gun still pressed against Louis' neck. With just a slight movement of the gun, this man could cut off his breath at any moment.

This man was not the type to be easily intimidated by the presence of others.

The uncle looked at Louis, who was still being held tightly by Riegrow.

"Louis. Are you going to kill him?"

"That's right. He deserves to die!"

"Then, go down to the prison cell. Stay there for half a year to think it over."

After speaking to Louis, the uncle turned to look at Riegrow. His expression became tired and somewhat disappointed.

"Riegrow."

When his uncle's eyes met his, Riegrow frowned slightly as if he was troubled by something, then smiled with an unreadable expression. He shrugged, looking aggrieved, and lowered his voice.

"I did nothing. What can I do when threatened with a 50-caliber gun? If I didn't do it, I would have died anyway."

Riegrow's excuse, although somewhat reasonable, was clearly absurd. Louis' arm was still bent at an angle by Riegrow and was covered in bruises, making it obvious to anyone who saw him that he was much stronger.

The uncle shook his head two or three times in frustration. Then, looking at Jeong Taeui, who was still holding the gun aimed at the back of Riegrow's neck, he said:

"Release Louis and take two steps forward. Look, my subordinate is still trembling behind you."

"Is he the one with a gun to his neck?"

Riegrow muttered with a wronged expression. However, he still let go of Louis. Before letting go, he squeezed the twisted arm once more. Then, he patted Louis on the back of his neck, causing him to cry out.

The uncle glanced at the rifle that had fallen on the ground and signaled the old driver to step forward and pick it up. As the driver picked up the heavy gun, the uncle glanced at it for a moment, shook his head, and then hit Louis with the barrel of the gun.

"You're crazy, no one would use this on someone else. You'll have to go through weapons training again when you get out."

The uncle shook his head and tossed the gun to the driver. Then he kicked Louis away and pushed him out.

Riegrow straightened and smiled, clearly having put his neck right up to Jeong Taeui's gun barrel. He chuckled and took a step forward. Jeong Taeui slowly lowered his gun and he reached out to take the gun from him.

As Riegrow took two steps back as his uncle had asked, Jeong Taeui looked at him and their eyes met. He smiled vaguely, his hands clenched as if in regret. At that moment, Jeong Taeui realized that if his uncle had come a little later, the situation might have been very different. The feeling of unease was completely clear, and he realized the real danger. Perhaps, the real danger was still ahead.

Jeong Taeui feels unhappy.

It seemed that the military education about comradeship was still deeply ingrained in his body. When he saw someone unrelated to him almost die, his body reacted naturally.

Realizing the gaze on him, Jeong Taeui turned his face away, the uncle who was looking at him with an unpleasant expression just shook his head, looking disappointed.

"Jeong Taeui. What are you going to do with an empty gun?"

The uncle asked with an annoyed look on his face. The Colt in his hand looked very light.

Jeong Taeui said nothing, just bowed his head in silence. When he took the gun from Morer's hand, he knew its weight. But to face that man, he had no choice but to take such a risk.

Riegrow, who was standing not far away, suddenly stopped and looked at Jeong Taeui with a strange expression. Then, he laughed as if he felt something unbelievable. The more he thought about it, the bigger his smile became.

Then the smile stopped abruptly.

Riegrow looked straight at Jeong Taeui, whispering as if he was remembering.

"Jeong Taeui, right?"

The pronunciation of his name was as precise as it had ever been. Hearing this way of calling his name, Jeong Taeui felt even sadder. The stormy future was evident in that voice.

"Uncle, can you put me in jail instead of Louis? I'm willing to stay there for half a year, please isolate me."

When you go to the training room, you will have to beg and plead.
