Chereads / Passion (Yuuji) Volume 1 / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Jeong Taeui was hit seven or eight times. Two of them hurt so much that he lost his mind for a moment. However, fortunately, a few of the mushrooms could be considered cotton balls, the rest were more or less in line with the atmosphere at that time.

After being beaten to a pulp until he sobered up, Jeong Taeui drank himself to death while doubting himself.

"No snacks?"

"I think Yuan Ho went out to buy beef jerky earlier, let me go get it too."

"Yeah, that glass over there is empty. You should take the initiative to refill it. What are you doing sitting right next to me?"

"..."

Jeong Taeui discovered another difference from the military…. He muttered to himself as he looked thoughtfully at the bag of peanuts that a strange man had just given him.

After punching him hard, they acted as if nothing had happened and said, 'How about we go out for a few drinks to celebrate our new member?'. The people who had pulled Jeong Taeui along with cheerful smiles were the same ones who mercilessly dealt him heavy blows. Jeong Taeui could only sit there silently drinking the wine and eating the snacks they gave him.

Are these men strange, this group of people strange, this branch strange, the whole UNHDRO strange or is it just you strange?

"Is it okay to drink like this? What if there is an emergency summons while you are drunk?"

Jeong Taeui said doubtfully, a man named Qing Jiao shrugged and smiled in response.

"What is an emergency summons?"

Then Tou, who was sitting next to him, answered in a friendly manner.

"Taeil comes from the military. It's only natural that he has that habit."

"HAS…."

Only then did Qing nod as if she understood. Carlo, who was eating snacks on the other side, also explained.

"This isn't the military, so there's no reason to be called in so often. Unless you're someone who's making enemies and stabbing your teammates, there's no need to be nervous. There's never been anyone like that here before. After training, of course, you can drink freely. However, if you get so drunk that you can't attend training the next morning, your instructor will slowly beat you to a pulp."

"I heard that sometimes members here take on personal errands outside. How can we be sure that no one out there will come in here with a grudge and start stabbing?"

Jeong Taeui asked while taking a sip of his drink. He didn't know exactly how this place operated. But a long time ago, he had heard similar things between his uncle and Jaeui's conversation. So Jeong Taeui had thought that UNHDRO was an organization that specialized in receiving missions from outside.

"Where did you hear that rumor?"

"It's just a rumor that got spread from one side to another by accident."

"Ah, you are Jeong Jaeui's younger brother. But you only heard half of it. There are times when we have to take on missions outside, but we will not accept personal requests no matter how much money is offered. After all, we are still working within this organization. Taking on personal work is not impossible, but we have to consider whether it is worth making enemies out there. And even more than those people, you have to be careful…."

Carlo was speaking when he suddenly lowered his voice and stopped for a moment, revealing a hint of agitation and anger.

"Those bastards at the European branch! Sooner or later, they'll brazenly barge in here!"

Once again, he didn't know how many curses he had heard about the European branch just today. Jeong Taeui, although he was now on the same boat as these people, seeing these big men burning with determination to win, he suddenly felt amused. Jeong Taeui laughed as he spoke.

"It seems like the relationship between the two sides is really bad… Aren't the members supposed to be transferred between branches regularly… They're colleagues after all, I don't understand why the relationship is so bad."

As soon as Jeong Taeui finished speaking, the room fell silent. Jeong Taeui, who was drinking, couldn't swallow his wine and just looked at them.

"Ah, you really don't know, so let me tell you. Of course, members are always rotated between branches but…"

"Huh?''

"If it's from another branch or from the headquarters, I don't know, but two different branches don't directly exchange personnel with each other."

Jeong Taeui divided the wine in his mouth into two parts and quietly swallowed it, trying his best not to reveal an extremely unreasonable expression.

So that's why none of the members here have ever been to the European branch. Okay. I know the relationship between the two branches is like cats and dogs, but no matter what, the relationship is so bad that even exchanging members directly is impossible. In other words, it goes beyond personal grudges between members and is so bad that the other branches and headquarters have to admit it.

"Could it be that there was some bloody history…..?"

Jeong Taeui muttered, Jing gripped the wine glass tightly.

"Originally, the relationship between the branches or with the headquarters in America was not very good. With the headquarters, it was a little better, but it could not be said to be peaceful. Because the training subjects were actually different. So when you train together, you have to fight as if you were facing an enemy. And if you fight with all your might like that, it is inevitable that someone will die, and if it accumulates, in the next joint training, there will be people who decide to avenge their colleagues and kill again. Hatred begets hatred. That is why the hatred between the two branches has been firmly cemented as it is now."

"Isn't it manslaughter but intentional murder?"

No one responded. The silence and bitter looks seemed to speak for themselves.

"But it's not like they'll kill people indiscriminately.... That's it. But anyway, as soon as they step in, you'll see hell right before your eyes."

".....I heard joint training happens once a year, right?"

"Yes. With the European branch and other branches. Once a year. In other words, the members will draw lots to rotate training with the European, Australian, South American and African branches for about three months each time."

If he wanted to live normally for the next half year, he would have to go through at least two life and death situations… Jeong Taeui blamed his uncle for bringing him here with a feeling like he was being bitten by an insect.

"We'll draw lots and divide the members in half. This time, half of the European branch members will come here, and half of the members here will go to Australia. Half of the Australian branch will go to South America, rotating that way. Then next time we'll mix up the order and rotate to different branches."

"Oh, I see. So when do we draw lots to decide who stays and who goes?"

"If we leave on Saturday, we will draw lots on Friday night."

"....How can we prepare plane tickets when the draw is so close to departure time?"

"Why worry about getting a ticket on our chartered plane? Every country with a branch office requires a visa. Just bring your passport."

Jeong Taeui thought for a moment about the word 'specialized aircraft' - and recalled the abandoned building that looked like it was about to collapse when he first set foot on the island - and he felt even more that having a special aircraft here really didn't sound appropriate at all.

"Why do you have to decide so quickly? Wouldn't it be better to prepare and divide things up in advance?"

"Because if you know in advance whether you will stay or go, you will be more likely to neglect your training."

"Haha, if you don't want to die, whether you go or not, you have to train hard, right?"

"When training with branches other than the European branch, there will be some injuries, but very few people lose their lives."

"Because of those European bastards, Sang Wan and Croy died last time, right?"

"Uerl, Yun, and Kiyomi were hospitalized and haven't returned yet."

"Once the bastard who killed Sang Wan comes, I will slit his throat."

The curses filled with resentment and malice made the room noisy for a moment.

".....The other branch will also draw lots?"

"Well, maybe so. Basically, the operating policies between branches are the same. But people who have deep hatred for this place, they won't send them here either… Bastards!"

If the operating policies are basically the same, it means that the Asian branch will also limit sending people who have a grudge against the European branch there.

"That guy, will he come?"

Suddenly, Alta muttered. Everyone was silent for a moment.

Jeong Taeui munched on his peanut snacks while looking around with a puzzled expression.

Each man had a different expression, but all of them were dark and gloomy. From anger, to worry, to fear. Everything.

"Anyway, he has made enemies with more than just one or two people. Surely the Europeans won't push our people to their deaths."

The man sitting next to Jeong Taeui gritted his teeth with bloodshot eyes. It wasn't just one or two people who had that hateful look, all six of them had the same expression. Carlo muttered.

"But from the standpoint of the heads of the European branch, it would be better to let that guy come here. Think about it, instead of letting that guy stay in the branch and kill our people, it would be better to let him go to another branch. Even if he goes somewhere else and kills one person and cripples three others, it would be better than doing it on our own land."

"If he comes here, I will tear him apart and kill him."

"....Who is that?"

For a moment, the sound stopped again. Jeong Taeui curiously stared at the silent men and thought it was a relief not to eat peanuts right now. It would be embarrassing to hear the sound of snack chewing in this dead silence.
