Amara stood frozen in front of Elara's apartment door, her mind still spinning from the unexpected kiss on the cheek. Elara had kissed her. On the cheek. Like, actually kissed her. Amara blinked several times, hoping the cool night air would snap her out of whatever stunned trance she was in. It didn't. She could still feel the lingering warmth of Elara's lips on her skin.
"What... the hell just happened?" she muttered under her breath, her hand absently reaching up to touch the spot. It had been such a small, innocent gesture, but why did it feel like it had sent a bolt of electricity through her entire body?
[So, how's it feel to be kissed by a woman you're supposed to be protecting?] The system's voice popped up out of nowhere, as smug as ever. [Bet you didn't see that coming.]
"Not now," Amara hissed, glancing around like someone might hear her talking to herself. "I need a minute."
