Elara and Amara strolled out of the amusement park as night blanketed the city in soft lights. Their cheeks were still slightly flushed from the whirlwind of rides, and Elara could feel the residual thrill of the roller coasters humming in her veins. She glanced at Amara, who had finally, mercifully, removed her oversized sunglasses. Beneath the glow of street lamps, Amara looked almost peaceful, though Elara knew she'd never admit it.
"So, where to now?" Elara asked, still clutching her neon-pink bear.
Amara pulled out her phone and tapped a few buttons. "Dinner reservations at La Petite Étoile. Fancy enough for you?"
Elara's eyes lit up. She'd only heard about La Petite Étoile, the kind of restaurant where the waiters wore tailored suits and the smallest dish cost more than a week's rent in her old apartment.
"Oh, going all out, are we?" she teased. "Guess roller coasters bring out your generous side."
