Elara could practically hear Amara's brain short-circuiting the moment her eyes landed on the framed photo by the bed. It was almost impressive, the way Amara just froze like she was staring down the barrel of some cosmic joke. Elara leaned against the wall, crossing her arms as she bit back a smile.
"You okay over there, or did I just break your brain?" Elara asked, her tone dripping with mock concern.
Amara blinked once. Twice. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out. She just pointed at the photo like it was some cursed object.
Elara sighed dramatically and walked over to stand beside her. "It's a picture, Amara. You've seen one before, right?"
Amara's eyes darted between Elara and the photo, her face a mixture of confusion and mild horror. "This… this is from the audition."
"Yep."
"When you kissed me on the cheek."
"Yep." Elara grinned.
"And… you kept this?"
"Obviously."
