Chereads / Azur Lane: Modern Submarine In Action / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Quest and Busted

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Quest and Busted

Someone once said to me, "Sometimes, reality feels so strange but it always happens."

That's what I'm experiencing right now, who would have thought that I would be reborn as a submarine?

Let me clarify a little, the submarine I'm referring to here is a nuclear-powered attack submarine.

At first, I denied all of this and thought that all of this was just a hallucination toward death. However, a small incident made me aware of this bitter reality. I was reborn as a submarine that has a male personification form.

Well... If you understand what I'm saying. A ship should have a call in the form of "Her" which refers to the female gender.

 Why female?

Because taking care of one ship is like supporting a woman with many needs!

Ah! put that aside. Let's focus on the problem that is currently befalling me. In short, I was born as a male submarine in the world of Azurlane.

Why do I sound so sure?

 Well, look at this!

Why did I accept such a dangerous Quest? It's because I have no ammunition! Just imagine! A sophisticated weapon that has no bullets to shoot. It feels so useless, doesn't it? That's what I'm experiencing!

At least, by doing the Daily Quest given by the mysterious screen has guaranteed my ammunition supply. Following the abyssal convoy from a depth of 800 is very easy. I can hear their water footsteps and they can't hear mine. A very easy Quest for a stealth submarine like me.

Suddenly my body felt a sonar beam penetrating the body of my submarine.

Ugh... How should I explain it? It was like a human body being touched causing a ticklish feeling that ran throughout the body.

Yep, more or less like that.

 Piingg!!

 Piiinggg!!

 Piiiinnnngggg!!

Eh? What's going on? Why are so many sonar beams raining down on the body of my submarine? Ugh... Please stop that, you perverted ship!

 Eh?

I have the right to say that, don't I?

Because I was curious, I started to rise to a depth of 400. Right at a depth of 500, I could hear the sound of water footsteps like a sinking ship and the water footsteps of the siren convoy slowing down.

Erm... Did these sirens get a surprise attack from a distance? My passive sonar or submarine's ears didn't detect any other surface objects other than the siren convoy.

Should I use active sonar? But, if I use active sonar. It would be the same as giving away my position and this Quest would fail.

Besides, why does this Quest require me to be "Undetected" anyway? I understand that the mobility of submarines is their existence that is difficult to detect. However, my very curious condition makes me want to peek at what has happened on the surface.

 Ah!

 How stupid of me.

Why didn't I use the periscope tube to check the outside world?

Damn! As an advanced submarine, I have failed because I am so amateur.

I immediately crawled to the periscope depth and extended my long periscope tube.

Heading to the periscope depth requires great effort and precision. If one step is wrong, then the water trail from my submarine's propeller will leave a foamy water trail that will ruin the Quest I am currently on.

 [Silent Hunter Quest – Completed!]

 Wooooahh!! Quest completed?

Eh? Why did this quest complete?

 What happened?

Ohhh... Ahhh... I get it now!

The siren convoy I was following had sunk.

Eh?! Wait a minute! If this quest is completed after they sink. Do I have to follow them until they sink or get destroyed? What a tiring quest!

Damn it! If only I knew, I would have sunk them to complete that Scam Quest.

Err... How am I supposed to sink a ship without weapons? That's right! I was too stupid to think about it. Following them to get ammunition is considered a big advantage for me. Um! That's right! Let's just say it's a stroke of luck that they suddenly sank.

When my submarine's body was at periscope depth, I immediately raised my periscope tube to see the situation. The atmosphere above the water was only the siren convoy that was destroyed by fire and slowly sinking. The night conditions made me curious about the perpetrator who destroyed the siren convoy. For that, I immediately raised the radar mast and ESM mast tubes to see the situation around me. I was very surprised by the situation around me. Around me were islands and other ships hiding behind the islands. The shooting angle from their position had explained the damage suffered by the siren convoy.

Urm ... I don't want to look for trouble. So, I only recorded their ship signatures with the radar mast and ESM mast.

Hundreds of data flowed into my brain like a rushing waterfall. Has my brain developed into a genius?

The ships behind the island were KMS Bismarck, KMS Tirpitz, KMS Admiral Graf Spee, KMS U-30, HMS Spearfish, HMS Nelson, HMS Rodney, HMS Renown, HMS Prince of Wales, HMS Ark Royal, HMS Victorious, and HMS Hood.

Urm... What the heck?! Why are there so many warships here? Could this island be a military base?

My radar mast and ESM mast picked up a radio wave coming from one of the surface ships.

 "Ark Royal, status update!"

"All on target, no sirens survived. Report complete!"

"Mission accomplished, return to the main base!"

"Order received, Iron Blood will return to the main base!"

"Eh? You are returning to the main base?"

"Un! The mission is complete and our work to assist your military base has been done. Unlike you, our Admiral is very busy suppressing the siren attack."

"Eeeh~ Our Admiral is also just as busy. He even locked himself in the command room to formulate a defense strategy without eating or drinking."

"Heh, sounds like a very ambitious Admiral."

"Bismarck, before you return to the Iron Blood main base. Take a rest first, even though our ships have hostile behavior. It has nothing to do with the current situation. We have a special dish that might please your taste buds. Have you guys ever tasted the Royal Tea Party before?"

"Ugh, Hood… I understand your good intentions but…"

 "Royal Tea Party!"

 "Eh? Who is that?"

Erm… It seems… I have blown my cover. I didn't expect their talk about the "Royal Tea Party" to have successfully aroused my hunger. My submarine body may not need food but my personification body is capable of feeling hunger. My stomach growled after hearing "Royal Tea Party" and I reflexively joined in their conversation.

From a distance, I could hear the sound of alarms and searchlights lighting up the night sky.

"Who are you? How did you enter our communication network!"

"Hey! I know you can still hear me!"

Well… the rice has become porridge and my carelessness has exposed my position.

"Ahem! Let me introduce myself… I am the submarine SSN-21. Requesting permission to dock into the military base… Urhmm…"

Yup, one mistake after another has piled up in front of me. I paused to think about my next move.

"Submarine? Where are you? U-30 will pick you up."

"Urm… Pick me up? At least… Move your big cannons away from me."

 "Eh?!"

 "Eeehh?"

 "Eeeeehhhh??"

 "Eh?"

With my dwindling luck, the searchlight from the KMS Bismarck began to shine on my periscope and radar. My radar caught several small ships that began to approach the body of my submarine.

 "Ahhh…"

Reluctantly, I immediately surfaced and showed the entire body of my submarine. For some reason, I felt like I was being attacked by shame as if I had displayed something indecent in public.

 Ugh… forget it.

I had to face the big problem that was in front of me.

If only I hadn't been provoked by food, this situation wouldn't have happened.

 Urgh… This carelessness…

Oh my stupidness… At least… Try to be careful!
