Gu Xiannian's long-anticipated visit to the aquarium, after a day of unrestrained delight, left him feeling a lingering reluctance as they drove home. Tugging on Chi Yu's hand, he tilted his rosy face up to her, pleading endearingly.
"Sister, can we go to the aquarium again tomorrow? I haven't seen enough of the sharks."
Chi Yu chuckled, glancing ahead. "Why not ask your mother?"
Gu Xiannian leaned close to Chi Yu's ear, whispering, "Mother definitely won't agree, but if you ask, she'll say yes."
Qiao Yu, listening intently, snorted, "Gu Xiannian, I heard everything."
Gu Xiannian guiltily let go of Chi Yu's hand and, pretending to look out the window, muttered, "Mother, you misheard. I didn't say anything."
Chi Yu couldn't help but stifle her laughter.
Qiao Yu asked Chi Yu if she was tired, suggesting, "Your uncle won't be home tonight; why don't we have dinner out?"
Chi Yu left the arrangements to Qiao Yu.
