The crew quickly picked their opponents, their instincts guiding them to the right matchups. Luffy faced off against Gedatsu, the priest known for his absentmindedness and strange combat style. Zoro squared up with Ohm, the hulking priest who wielded a massive sword and was accompanied by his fierce dog, Holy. Sanji eyed Shura, the priest with a twisted sense of justice, standing menacingly on his pet bird Fuza. Robin found herself up against Satori, the unpredictable priest whose strange laughter echoed through the jungle.
Meanwhile, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper were left to deal with Commander Yama, the brutish leader of the Divine Soldiers, and his two lieutenants, Hotori and Kotori. The Divine Soldiers flanked their commander, ready to attack.
Nami smirked, her Clima-Tact at the ready. "Looks like we're in for a fight, boys."
Usopp gulped but nodded, loading his slingshot with a special projectile. "I've got your back, Nami!"
Chopper transformed into his Heavy Point, his muscles bulging as he prepared to defend his friends. "Let's take them down!"
Luffy, always eager for a fight, lunged at Gedatsu, his fists flying. "Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" he shouted, his arm stretching out towards the priest. Gedatsu, seemingly lost in his thoughts, dodged at the last second, his eyes wide with surprise.
Zoro wasted no time either. He unsheathed his swords and charged at Ohm, his movements fluid and quick. "Three-Sword Style... Onigiri!" he roared, slashing at Ohm, who blocked the attack with his massive sword. The clash of steel rang out across the battlefield.
Sanji lit a cigarette, his eyes never leaving Shura. "You're going down, birdbrain," he muttered before launching himself into the air. His leg turned blur as he aimed a powerful kick at Shura, who countered with a thrust of his spear. The two attacks collided, sending sparks flying.
Robin watched Satori carefully. She knew this fight would require more strategy than brute force. "Cien Fleur... Clutch!" she called out, sprouting hands from Satori's body. Satori, with his Mantra, predicted hands would attack him from on his own body, although shocked by the possibility of them, he attacked mercilessly, and cut Robin's hands, making her grimace.
Four of them soon realized their attacks were useless. Robin, in particular, found herself at a significant disadvantage. Every time she sprouted her hands on Satori's body, he predicted their location with his Mantra and slashed at them, causing damage that reflected back onto her own body. Pain was clear on Robin's face, and she gritted her teeth in frustration. This opponent was not to be underestimated.
Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, each facing their own opponents, struggled as well. Luffy's punches and kicks seemed to miss by inches as Gedatsu effortlessly dodged them, his eyes blank yet somehow aware of every move Luffy made. Zoro clashed swords with Ohm, the weight of the massive blade pushing him back as Ohm's cloud steel dial could elongate giving him further reach, while Sanji's kicks were met with swift counterattacks from Shura's spear.
Usopp, Nami, and Chopper, meanwhile, were doing their best to fend off Commander Yama and his two lieutenants, Hotori and Kotori. Yama's brute strength and the synchronized attacks from the twins were overwhelming, and the trio found themselves constantly on the defensive.
"This isn't working!" Nami shouted, ducking under a massive swing from Yama's club-like thick arm. "We need a new plan!"
Usopp nodded, trying to line up a shot with his slingshot. "I know, but this guy's not giving us any openings!"
Chopper, in his Heavy Point form, charged at Yama, but the commander easily swatted him away with a powerful backhand, sending Chopper crashing into a nearby tree.
Back on the main battlefield, Satori's laughter echoed through the air as he continued to toy with Robin. "Is that all you've got?" he taunted, his voice dripping with mockery. "I can see every move before you make it. You can't touch me!"
Robin narrowed her eyes, trying to think of a way to outsmart him. But every attempt to attack only ended with more of her hands being sliced apart, each cut sending waves of pain through her body. She knew she couldn't keep this up much longer.
Coby, watching from the sidelines, clenched his fists. He wanted to jump in, assist them, but he knew this was the crew's best shot to learn the dangers of Haki firsthand. Letting them struggle would toughen them up, and besides, this was no ordinary fight—these priests wielded Observation Haki, and the crew needed to experience it to understand how dangerous their enemies could be.
Luffy remembered what Coby said about Haki. He knew that his attacks were being predicted, and that made the fight even more frustrating. Gedatsu seemed to move with an eerie sense of timing, dodging every punch and kick Luffy threw at him. It felt like fighting a ghost, and each missed hit only made Luffy more determined to land one solid blow.
Gedatsu, unfazed by Luffy's relentless assault, chuckled to himself. "You can't hit what you can't catch," he muttered, his voice low and confident. His blank expression didn't change as he ducked under another punch, sidestepping the follow-up kick with ease.
Luffy growled in frustration. "Stay still, damn it!" He threw a flurry of punches, his arms stretching out in all directions. "Gomu Gomu no Gatling!" Fists flew toward Gedatsu from every angle, but the priest danced through the barrage, his movements fluid and seemingly effortless.
At one point, Gedatsu nearly tripped over his own feet but still managed to avoid Luffy's strikes. "You'll never hit me like that," he taunted, his voice oddly detached.
Luffy gritted his teeth, pulling his fist back to his sides. He needed a different approach, something unpredictable. "Alright, let's try this!" he yelled, launching himself into the air. His arm stretched back, gaining momentum. "Gomu Gomu no Rifle!" He twisted his body mid-air, his arm spinning like a drill as it shot toward Gedatsu.
"Impressive... but still not enough," Gedatsu muttered, raising his hands. He aimed them toward Luffy, and with a sudden burst of energy, fired a powerful cloud of Milky Dials at him. The dense white clouds shot toward Luffy, swirling like a mini cyclone.
Luffy's eyes widened as the clouds slammed into him, knocking him off balance. He tumbled backward, the impact sending him skidding across the ground. He groaned, pushing himself up, but the Milky Dial's effects didn't stop there. The clouds clung to him, slowing his movements and making it harder to see.
"Got you now," Gedatsu said, his voice calm. He lunged forward, his hands glowing with energy as he prepared to strike.
Luffy wiped the cloud from his face, just in time to see Gedatsu closing in. He ducked under the attack, rolling to the side, but Gedatsu was relentless. The priest twisted mid-air, bringing his elbow down hard on Luffy's shoulder. Luffy winced as the blow connected, but he managed to catch Gedatsu's wrist before he could pull back.
"Gotcha!" Luffy grinned, tightening his grip. With a powerful yank, he pulled Gedatsu off his feet and slammed him into the ground. The impact sent a shockwave through the battlefield, and for a moment, Gedatsu lay still, the wind knocked out of him.
Luffy didn't waste any time. He jumped back, taking a deep breath as he prepared his next move. "Gomu Gomu no Bazooka!" His hands shot forward, aiming straight for Gedatsu's chest.
But just as his hands were about to connect, Gedatsu's eyes snapped open. His Observation Haki flared, and he twisted his body at the last second, narrowly avoiding the attack. Luffy's palms slammed into the ground, creating a massive crater, but Gedatsu had already flipped back to his feet.
With a swift motion, Gedatsu activated his Jet Punch—a technique that allowed him to launch rapid, high-speed punches using his Jet Dials. His fists blurred as they shot toward Luffy, each one carrying the force of a cannonball.
Luffy's eyes widened as he saw the flurry of punches coming his way. He tried to dodge, but Gedatsu's attacks were faster than he had anticipated. The first punch connected with his stomach, driving the air out of his lungs. The second hit his shoulder, spinning him around. The third caught him in the ribs, and by the fourth, Luffy was reeling, struggling to stay on his feet.
Gedatsu pressed his advantage, continuing his assault. His punches rained down on Luffy, each one hitting harder than the last. Finally, Gedatsu delivered a powerful uppercut that sent Luffy flying into the air. Luffy crashed back down to the ground, dazed and gasping for breath.
Gedatsu stood over him, his blank expression unchanging. "It's over," he said flatly, raising his hand for the final blow.
On Zoro's side, he was equally troubled. Ohm could elongate his Cloud Steel sword seemingly endlessly, giving him a reach Zoro couldn't match. Every time Zoro thought he had an opening, Ohm's Observation Haki kicked in, predicting his next move and countering it with precision.
Zoro gritted his teeth as he blocked another strike, the force of the blow reverberating through his swords. "Is that all you've got, swordsman?" Ohm taunted, his voice calm as he extended his blade once more, the steel lengthening like a snake.
Zoro didn't respond. He couldn't afford to waste energy on words. Instead, he focused on the rhythm of the fight, trying to find a way around Ohm's seemingly impenetrable defense. But every time he closed the distance, Ohm was already there, his blade sweeping in to block or counter.
The clash of steel against steel echoed through the jungle as Zoro pressed forward, refusing to back down. He swung his swords in a powerful arc, aiming for Ohm's midsection, but the priest sidestepped at the last second, his sword lashing out in a counterattack. Zoro barely managed to deflect the blow, the impact driving him back a few steps.
Ohm didn't let up. He lunged forward, his elongated sword striking out like a whip. Zoro dodged, rolling to the side as the blade sliced through the air where he'd been standing. He quickly regained his footing, his eyes narrowing as he assessed his opponent.
Zoro's grip tightened on his swords. He needed to change his approach. The usual tactics weren't working against an opponent who could predict his every move. He sheathed one of his swords, freeing up his hand as he prepared for a different strategy.
Ohm raised an eyebrow, curious about the change. "Giving up already?"
Zoro smirked. "Not even close." With a sudden burst of speed, he closed the distance between them, his remaining swords flashing as he launched into a series of rapid strikes. His movements were unpredictable, erratic even, designed to throw off Ohm's Mantra.
Ohm's eyes widened as he struggled to keep up with Zoro's new rhythm. The swordsman was no longer following a predictable pattern, and it was throwing off his ability to anticipate the attacks. Zoro's blades came at him from unexpected angles, forcing him to block and parry with increasing difficulty.
But just when it seemed like Zoro had the upper hand, Ohm adjusted his stance. He focused on the small tells in Zoro's movements, the subtle shifts in his weight, and began predicting his attacks once again. With a swift motion, Ohm's sword extended, catching Zoro off guard and slashing across his shoulder.
Sanji focused on his two opponents—Shura, the twisted priest with his relentless spear, and his bird Fuza, who could breathe fire. He glanced over at Zoro, noticing that the swordsman had easily put Holy, Ohm's dog, out of the fight. Zoro had simply ordered the dog to stop, and it had obediently complied, leaving Zoro to face Ohm one-on-one.
Sanji smirked, muttering to himself, "Lucky bastard." He returned his attention to Shura, who was circling him with an eager grin. Fuza flapped its wings, positioning itself to strike from above, its beak already glowing with the fire it was about to unleash.
Shura moved first, thrusting his spear toward Sanji's chest with a quick jab. Sanji sidestepped, the spear missing him by inches, but before he could counterattack, Fuza dived down, spewing a stream of flames. Sanji barely had time to leap back, avoiding the fiery assault as the ground sizzled where he had just been standing.
"You think you can handle both of us?" Shura taunted, twirling his spear with one hand while Fuza circled overhead, ready for another strike.
Sanji didn't respond with words. Instead, he spun on his heel, aiming a powerful kick at Shura's head. But Shura's Mantra allowed him to predict the attack, and he ducked under Sanji's leg, countering with a low sweep of his spear. The sharp blade cut through the air, aiming for Sanji's ankles.
Sanji hopped over the spear, landing with a graceful pivot. "Not bad," he muttered, realizing that this wouldn't be an easy fight. Shura wasn't just fast—he could see Sanji's moves before they happened. That meant Sanji needed to be unpredictable.
Fuza made another dive, flames erupting from its beak. This time, Sanji didn't retreat. Instead, he dashed forward, heading straight toward the bird. Shura's eyes widened in surprise, not expecting Sanji to charge into the flames. But Sanji wasn't reckless. As Fuza unleashed its fire, Sanji twisted his body, using the momentum of his dash to spin around the flames, his foot coming up in a high arc.
"Party Table Kick Course!" Sanji shouted as his foot connected with Fuza's side, sending the bird spiraling through the air. The impact wasn't enough to knock the bird out of the fight, but it disrupted its attack, forcing Fuza to retreat and regroup.
Shura gritted his teeth, he lunged at Sanji again, this time aiming for his throat. The spear shot forward like a bullet, but Sanji was ready. He ducked and spun, his leg sweeping out to kick Shura's feet out from under him.
But Shura was quick. He predicted the attack and leaped into the air, avoiding the sweep. Sanji, undeterred, followed up with a high kick aimed at Shura's midsection. The priest blocked it with his spear, the force of the clash sending vibrations through both combatants, but ultimately it was Sanji who was sent flying.
"You can't hit me," Shura taunted, his voice dripping with arrogance. "I see every move you make before you even know you're going to make it."
Robin was in a tight spot, struggling to figure out how to outsmart Satori's Mantra. Coby had mentioned that Haki worked with intent and willpower—if she intended to attack, her opponent could read that intent. But how was she supposed to attack without any clear intention? The concept seemed impossible, and it was frustrating her more with each failed attempt.
Satori laughed as he dodged another one of her attempts to grab him with her sprouted hands. "You're too predictable. You can't beat me if I know every move before you make it."
Robin frowned, trying to think of a way to catch him off guard. She needed to be more creative, more random, but every time she tried, he anticipated her moves. Sprouting hands on him or around him wasn't working, and her usual strategies seemed useless against his foresight.
Satori lunged at her, swinging his impact dial-clad fists. Robin ducked, narrowly avoiding the blow. She needed to change tactics. Quickly forming a new plan, she sprouted a dozen hands all over the battlefield—on the ground, on trees, on rocks, everywhere but on Satori's body.
The move momentarily confused him, but then he grinned. "What are you trying to do now, woman?"
Robin didn't answer. Instead, she had her sprouted hands grab nearby objects—branches, rocks, anything they could find—and hurled them toward Satori. The random nature of the attacks seemed to work better, forcing Satori to dodge left and right as the makeshift projectiles came at him from all angles.
However, Satori's Mantra still gave him an edge. He managed to avoid most of the incoming attacks, even as Robin kept them coming. "You'll have to do better than that!" he taunted, his grin never fading.
Robin was running out of options. She knew she couldn't keep this up forever—her energy was dwindling, and the strain of maintaining so many sprouted hands was taking its toll. She had to think of something different.
Satori closed in again, his fists glowing with the energy of his impact dials. "Enough games!" he shouted as he lunged at her, ready to finish the fight. He caught with Robin, and with dials on his palms, he attacked, sending Robin flying, raising dusts.
Robin wiped the blood from her lips as she got back on her feet. She noticed something during the clash—Satori's Mantra, though powerful, had limits. It wasn't infallible. He could predict attacks, but only as long as she intended to hit him. Deciding to change her approach, Robin created a line of hands behind her, using them to launch herself at Satori. He dodged easily, as expected, but it wasn't Robin's hands he needed to worry about—it was the ground. She had sprouted hands from underneath, pulling at his ankles. With no time to react, Satori stumbled, just as Robin closed the distance. She grabbed his head with two powerful arms, and in one swift motion, twisted, snapping his neck with a sickening crunch. His body crumpled to the ground, his mocking grin fading away for good.
Luffy quickly realized that Gedatsu's Mantra was predicting his every move, making it impossible to land a direct hit. But Luffy was nothing if not creative. Instead of going straight for Gedatsu, he began striking random points around the battlefield—punching the ground, trees, and even the air. Gedatsu watched in confusion as Luffy's fists bounced off surfaces unpredictably. The punches ricocheted off and rocketed back towards Gedatsu, catching him off guard. The priest tried to dodge, but the unexpected angle of the attack made it impossible to avoid. The punch connected with Gedatsu's face, sending him crashing into the ground, unconscious.
Zoro faced a similar challenge with Ohm. The priest's Mantra allowed him to anticipate every sword strike, and his Cloud Steel blade gave him a massive reach advantage. Zoro realized that close combat wasn't going to work. He needed to keep his distance. Sheathing two of his swords, Zoro took a deep breath and focused his energy. "Sanjuroku Pound Ho!" he shouted, unleashing a powerful air slash from a distance. The attack tore through the air, slicing through Ohm's extended blade and smashing into him with devastating force. Ohm, despite predicting the precise trajectory of the attack, didn't think his defense would be broken. The impact sent him sprawling to the ground, defeated.
Sanji faced off against Shura, who constantly used his spear and bird to keep Sanji on the defensive. Shura's Mantra was making it nearly impossible for Sanji to land a hit, but Sanji noticed something—Shura was relying too heavily on Fuza for his attacks. Every time the bird moved in to breathe fire, Shura's focus shifted. Sanji seized the opportunity. When Fuza swooped down for another attack, Sanji quickly grabbed a nearby rock and flung it at the bird. Fuza's instinct to avoid the object kicked in, throwing off Shura's concentration. In that brief moment of distraction, Sanji launched himself into the air. "Anti-Manner Kick Course!" he yelled, his foot crashing into Shura's face with immense force. Shura was knocked out instantly, and Fuza, disoriented, retreated into the sky.
Nami, Usopp, and Chopper fought fiercely against Commander Yama and his two lieutenants, Hotori and Kotori. The Divine Soldiers surrounded them, making it hard to move or escape. Nami struck with her Clima-Tact, using lightning strikes to fend off the soldiers. Usopp fired explosive projectiles from his slingshot, and Chopper, in Heavy Point, charged through the crowd, knocking enemies aside with brute force.
But it wasn't enough. The Divine Army was too large, and more soldiers kept coming, overwhelming them. Nami panted, struggling to keep up as the soldiers pressed in closer. Usopp's hands trembled as he loaded another shot, his fear rising. Chopper, still holding his ground, glanced at his friends, worry in his eyes.
"We can't keep this up!" Usopp shouted, panic creeping into his voice.
Nami gritted her teeth, trying to think of a plan, but there was no time. The soldiers closed in, weapons raised, ready to strike.
Just as they were about to be swarmed, a familiar voice cut through the chaos. "Long-Distance Breath Nuke!" Coby's voice boomed across the battlefield. In an instant, he appeared beside Nami, pulling her into his chest.
The Divine Soldiers barely had time to react as Coby unleashed the breath he had been holding. A powerful blast of wind erupted from his mouth, ripping through the ranks of the Divine Army. The force of the explosion sent soldiers flying in all directions, their bodies flung into the air like ragdolls.
The ground shook from the impact, and a thick cloud of dust and debris filled the air. Nami clung to Coby, her heart pounding in her chest as the shockwave passed over them. When the dust finally settled, the battlefield was silent. The Divine Army was gone, obliterated by Coby's attack.
