Earth, Fire, Air, Water; the four elements that make up the world. Throughout my whole life, I have heard stories of Avatar Aang and how he took down the 100-year tyrannical reign that was the Fire Nation. Now it's been over 40 years since Ozai's rule and now a new threat emerges and a new generation is there to solve the threat. This is a story of how I met Avatar Korra and her friends as well as the adventures we went on.
———
Three days after the incident in the Sato Estate, Mako, Bolin, and Asami were finally arriving at Air Temple Island, where Korra and the Airbending kids were eagerly waiting for them at the docks. Kang had to leave early in the morning and didn't say why.
"They're here!" Ikki screamed.
As the three came to the docks they were welcomed by Ikki.
"Welcome to Air Temple Island. Your new home," Ikki said.
"Yes, welcome to my domain!" Meelo said.
"Well, aren't you a sweet little monk child," Bolin said, smiling and Pabu jumped off of the Earthbender's shoulder and went for Naga. "What's that fuzzy creature?" Meelo asked, looking at Pabu.
"That is a Fire Ferret. It's an arboreal mammal common to the bamboo forests of the central Earth Kingdom," Jinora said, but before she could explain more Ikki screamed.
"He's CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!" Ikki shouted excitedly while running past Jinora who covers her ears from her sister's shouting while Ikki tries to run for Pabu who hisses and runs away from the excited Airbender.
Just then Meelo Airbends himself on Naga.
"Yip, yip. Fly sky bison!" Meelo said, pulling the polar bear-dog's ears.
Asami giggled at the scene, "You know, I've forgotten how Kang's siblings are, seeing this takes me back."
"Hey, thanks for sending the Air Acolytes to help us with the move," Mako said.
"Yes, they've been amazing. Such tireless workers," Asami said as they watched the Air Acolytes carrying too many bags off the boat.
"I thought you were bringing a few things," Korra said.
"Well, anyway, everyone here wants you to feel welcome," Korra said.
"Where's Kang, by the way?" Asami asked, noticing that the Nonbender was nowhere to be seen.
"He left really early this morning. He didn't say why," Jinora said.
They all nodded as they all walked to their rooms. As they walk Meelo smiles at Asami big and wide with teeth showing.
"You're pretty. Can I have some of your hair?" Meelo asked. Mako laughs at this.
"Looks like I have some competition. He clearly has his brother's charm," Mako said in a joking manner.
"And now for the grand tour. The sky bison sleep in the caves down there. That's the temple Grandpa Aang built. And that's the greenhouse where we grow vegetables we eat," Ikki said, showing them right where the man-made caves are, the buildings, and to the left for the greenhouse.
"I have a couple of questions. Is this an all vegetarian island? Is that where you train Airbending? Do we have to wear Air Acolyte clothes? Do we each get our own sky bison? And the final question, how many trees are on this island?" Bolin asked.
"Yes, yes, no, no, 10,952," Ikki answered all the questions, making everyone shocked.
'How does Kang deal with her,' Mako thought, thanking himself that Bolin isn't like that.
"So, where are we gonna be staying?" Mako asked.
"You're a boy. Boys have to stay on the boy's side," Meelo said.
"I'll be happy to show you to the men's dormitory," Jinora said.
"I'm a boy," Bolin said.
Shortly after the boys followed Jinora to their respective rooms, Korra saw Meelo still standing there.
"Meelo, you go with the boys too," Korra said.
"We shall meet again soon, beautiful woman," Meelo said leaving.
"Ikki and I will be happy to take you to your room this way," Korra said as she started leading Asami.
Korra, Asami, and Ikki are walking down the corridor of the woman's side and everything is quiet.
"Asami, did you know Korra likes Mako?" Ikki asked, making the Avatar have a shocked face while thunder roars and explosions occur in the background behind Korra.
"Oh, uh… No. I was completely unaware of that," Asami said.
"Well, let's move on!" Korra said, grabbing Asami by her arm and they go down the halls while opening the doors to a different room allowing Asami to enter first and then follows her in and before Ikki could come in Korra quickly slams the doors in the Airbender's face.
"Hey!" Ikki yelled.
"Run along, Ikki!" Korra yelled through the doors making Ikki become angry as her eyes become comically white and begins growling and snarling and clawing like a cat but then pouts and walks off.
In the room and they look around it.
"So… this is your new room. I know it's a little rustic compared to what you're used to," Korra said.
"I've been here before when Kang and I were together, I have always told him that I found this place to be charming. And now the best part about it… nothing here reminds me of my father," Asami said, "Thank you for your hospitality."
"Of course," Korra said and just then there was a knock on the door. "Ikki, I swear, if you don't leave us alone, I'm gonna…" Korra cuts herself off as Tenzin enters the room, making the Avatar shocked and embarrassed. "Uhhh, hey Tenzin. Come right in," Korra said, trying to regain her composure.
"Good day, ladies. Asami, welcome back to the island. It has been years since we last had you here, though I wish it was under better circumstances," Tenzin said.
"Thank you for having me," Asami said as she and Tenzin bowed at each other.
He later shifted his attention to now both of the ladies, "I have some news for you both, Kang is going to be inducted as the Chief of Police later. Korra, you and I will be going," Tenzin stated.
Asami's eyes were wide while Korra was surprised, "Why didn't he tell us?" Asami asked.
Tenzin shrugged, "I don't know. I am attending because I am the representative of the Air Nomads, but I am also his Father so I can also give him emotional support from a close distance. Korra you must attend as the Avatar. Now shall we get going?"
Before the two left, Tenzin stopped and looked at Asami who was about to be left behind, "Asami how about you come as well, it will make Kang feel better seeing you there when he gives his induction speech."
She nodded at this as Korra raised an eyebrow hearing Tenzin saying his son gets nervous, "Kang can get nervous?"
"He's not invincible Korra. Even Kang can get nervous," Asami said. Tenzin nodded to what Asami said.
———
Kang was wearing new clothes for his brand new police attire. He wore a white leather long sleeve jacket that had the golden badge on his chest with the zipper opened, the sleeves were down to cover his sleeve tattoo. He had a black shirt underneath with his escrima stick harness on him with his signature black pants. He took a deep breath as he walked up to the podium and remained focused with all the flashing of cameras taking his picture. He saw Korra, Asami, and his Father standing on his left side and Asami mouthed good luck to him and he smiled at her and turned to the crowd.
"Hello, I am Kang Beifong; the son of Air Nation Councilman Tenzin and former Chief Lin Beifong as well as a Captain of the United Forces Special Forces Unit and now your Chief of Police. As you know, my Mother has retired from her position as Chief of Police. I would like to thank all those who have sent their hearts out to her for a quick recovery. I have been chosen by my Mother to be the next Chief of Police under the Emergency Transfer of Power Act which states that a Chief of Police can succeed their position to one of high ranking in the United Forces of Captain or higher, that person is me," Kang said.
Whispers could be heard as they were speculating about Kang's ascent to being the Chief of Police was through familial nepotism as his Uncle, Mother, and Father were of high ranks within their profession. A lot of them were more so questioning Kang's usefulness as he is the first ever Nonbender to be a Police Chief in history.
"Some of you no doubt are wondering why someone so young such as I would be taking charge of such a position of responsibility. It's true, while I may indeed be young, far too young for some people (well, maybe to a lot of people); but I have been around this position my entire life and know the ins and outs of it. And as you all know during my time with the United Forces, I have learned how to lead larger platoons and battalions by being under my uncle, Commander Bumi and General Iroh. I have even led my own Special Forces unit when I became a Captain and won three Medal of Honors. I won't make promises I know I can't keep, but I will say this; I will do everything in my power to keep the people of Republic City safe and protect what my Grandfather built, no matter the cost, that I promise. This city is one of my Grandfather's legacies and I will do my best to maintain it. I know most of you are wondering if the Police will be working with Councilman Tarrlok, and my answer is yes, the Police will be working with the Councilman from time-to-time when it involves Amon and the Equalists, all other times the Metalbending Police will be going above and beyond to continue protecting Republic City like they always have, thank you," Kang said with a small bow and the crowd cheered for him and he smiled at them.
As the crowd dispersed to go home, Asami ran to Kang and gave him a big hug. He lifted her up and spun her around, "Congratulations, Chief Beifong."
Kang nodded as Korra gave him a high-five, but he looked at his Father who gave him a proud smile. Kang walked to Tenzin and the two exchanged a massive hug with each other.
"I'm proud of you, son," Tenzin said, "If you need to talk, I'm there."
"Thanks, Dad," Kang said.
"Greetings Chief Beifong," said the voice of Tarrlok.
The tender moment between the father and son was soon ruined as they turned to see the Councilman of the Northern Water-Tribe.
"Councilman," Kang said with a curt nod.
Tarrlok smiled at him and then shifted his attention to Korra, "Ah Avatar Korra, long time no see. Now that your little Pro-Bending distractions are over, I look forward to your return to my task force," he said with a curt bow.
"Heh, forget it," Korra said firmly, "There is no way I'm rejoining your vanity project," She said defiantly.
"That is unfortunate to hear, but I'm sure you'll come to your senses as you have in the past," he said as he looked at Kang, "No doubt you will be helping our young Chief here, so we will be seeing each other."
"Don't hold your breath bub. I'm only going to help Kang and that's it," Korra said firmly, "Tenzin's been right about you all along. You played me, you played Kang's Mom, but Kang's too smart to be played by you," She said as she walked up to him, "Here's more news for you, you need me, but I don't need you. I'm the Avatar," She finished as she put her hands on her hips defiantly.
Tarrlok just looked at her with his obnoxious smile, "You are not in fact the Avatar. You are just a half-baked Avatar in training. Which reminds me, how is your Airbending going?"
Korra took a sharp breath and her arms fell to her sides.
"Made any significant progress with that?" he asked further.
Korra said nothing.
"I didn't think so," he said condescendingly.
"Councilman, I think you've said enough," Kang said, standing between him and Korra.
Before Tarrlok walked away, he looked at Korra, "If you will not be a part of my task force, then you had best stay out of my way," The councilman finished firmly as he walked away, "I will see you at a later date Chief Beifong to discuss some things," he added as he made his exit.
Kang glared at Tarrlok's retreating form and turned to Korra, "I'm sorry about that. He's just a bit sore that you won't work for his task force. Just… go home with Dad and Asami okay?"
Korra nodded and Kang patted her on the shoulder. Soon Asami walked towards Kang and put his hand on his cheek, "Now that you're Chief, I just want you to be careful okay?"
Kang's eyes softened at his ex-girlfriend's request as he gave her a small lopsided grin and nodded, "I'll do my best."
Asami gave a soft smile and kissed Kang on the cheek. Korra saw the relationship between Asami and Kang and what the latter girl said was true. The two seemed to act as if they used to be in a relationship, although she's been dating Mako, the love Asami has for Kang hasn't withered away and the same can be said for Kang.
"Chief Beifong, you're needed," said Saikhan as he walked up to Kang.
Kang sighed, "You don't need to call me that, Captain Saikhan," he said with an annoyed look.
Saikhan's lips twitched to a small, almost unnoticeable smirk, "I know."
Kang rolled his eyes, "Great, just what I need, to be the butt of the jokes around the station now. Come on Saikhan, show me that mountain of paperwork I have to do," he said as he waved to Asami, "See you guys later."
"Bye Kang," Asami said as she, Tenzin, and Korra headed back to the Island.
…
Kang sat in his new chair or his mother's chair and looked at the picture of him as a baby. His mother was holding him and his father had a hand around Lin's shoulder. Grandpa Aang and Uncle Bumi were on Tenzin's side, while Grandma Katara and Aunt Kya were by Lin's side.
'I miss those days.' He thought to himself as he picked up the photo and gently traced his fingers over Aang's image. It was days like these that made him wish he would have remembered the times when Grandpa Aang would come over. He knew from his Father that Grandpa Aang died when he was almost two years old.
He sighed, "Saikhan… do you think I'm the right person for this?" he asked the older officer as he placed the photo back down.
"On the record I would say yes," Saikhan said.
"And off record?" Kang asked in worry.
"I would still say yes," Saikhan said with a smile, "You're Avatar Aang's grandson, young blood, an inspiration, and became the youngest Captain during your time at the United Forces, people are willing to follow you because you're a good leader and watch out for everyone you work with, a quality your Mother has and has clearly passed to you, not only that you have your Father's wisdom passed down to you. Now here's your paperwork," The older officer said as he dumped the pile of papers on the Chief's desk.
Kang looked at the stack of papers in front of him and groaned… now he knew why his mother wished she was a Firebender at times.
…
"And I'm finished," Kang said in glee as he put the last piece of paper in the out box.
"Now to check on a few more things, then I can get some sleep and hopefully a warm dinner from Pema," Kang said as he stretched to get the kinks out of his back.
He was heading out his door just as screams started to go around the station.
"Great…" Kang groaned and headed down.
He saw some electric flashes, indicating the use of electro-gloves and saw chi-blockers hitting officers who didn't have armor on.
"Drop the gloves and put your hands in the air," Kang instructed.
The chi-blockers and whoever they had freed ran out the door as fast as possible.
"They really like doing things the hard way, don't they?" Kang said to himself with a sigh as he jumped over the railing on the second floor and headed to the garage and put on his goggles.
He hopped on his bike and revved it up and peeled out of the garage in pursuit of the truck with two Equalists on motorcycles tailing behind it and in front of it.
"Running away is already making things worse for yourself," Kang growled in his helmet as he followed them, not even seeing Korra, Asami, Mako, and Bolin in a car he just passed by that intersection.
…
As Asami was driving, Mako, Korra, and Bolin were looking around. Mako in particular was looking to the side and was the one who spotted Kang who wore a white leather jacket. Luckily Asami saw Kang as well as the Firebender who were shocked to see Kang riding a motorcycle.
"Was that Kang?" Mako asked in shock.
"Yep," Asami said, "how about we give him a hand."
Asami soon shifted gears to follow the young Chief.
…
Kang kept riding ahead as a truck was about to block his way, he skidded under it and continued going. He soon threw an escrima stick that led it to hitting the two Equalists in the head that were ahead of him with them getting knocked out and down and with the thrown stick returning to Kang.
After he kept riding, he saw a car chasing him and looked in disbelief.
"What are you doing here?" He shouted over his engine and the wind from the speed they were generating.
"We're the new Team Avatar! You wanna join?" Bolin shouted.
Kang glared at Bolin as he wanted to slap Bolin upside his head for asking something like that right now.
"Alright kids, listen up," Kang said, "Mako, shoot lightning at one of the motorcycles."
Mako nodded as he shot lightning to one of the three motorcycles which popped the tire.
"Korra and Bolin, ramp me!" Kang shouted.
Korra and Bolin obeyed as they used Earthbending to create a ramp for Kang and as he flew off his motorcycle, he took out what seemed like seven shurikens as he threw them to two side wheels of the bigger satomobile and the back wheels of three motorcycles.
…
The press arrived to take their pictures with the captured Equalists just as Tarrlok and his task force arrived.
"Avatar Korra, what do you think you're doing?" Tarrlok asked angrily as he stormed up to her.
"She assisted me in capturing these idiots who thought it was a genius idea to do a jailbreak on my first day, but we got them," Kang said, interjecting whatever Korra was going to say.
"That's all well and good Chief Beifong, but you tore up the city to do it," Tarrlok added with irritation.
Kang looked back to see the damage and shrugged, "Nothing a little paperwork and memos can't fix," he said uncaringly.
"Fine, but this is Avatar Korra's last warning to stay out of our business," Tarrlok said and was about to leave when Kang spoke.
"Sorry, but Avatar Korra, Mako, Bolin, and Asami, are now a deputy group to the Metalbending Police and can act on behalf of myself and they only answer to me," Kang said, he needed to think of something that will get Tarrlok to back off even if it is a little bit.
Tarrlok turned around and glared at Kang, "You're playing a dangerous game, Chief Beifong."
"Well it takes two to play that game, Councilman Tarrlok," Kang retorted.
Tarrlok left with a huff.
"That was awesome! We're deputies now!" Bolin cheered as he jumped up and down with excitement.
"Nice," Mako said with a smirk.
"Thank you, but in all seriousness you all need to go back to my Father NOW," Kang said. Before they all left, Asami gave him a massive hug before they left in the satomobile and Kang got on his motorcycle and drove back to the station to finish up and get some sleep in his office.
———
"Wait what?!," Kang said. Kang's voice shouted from his office and everyone in the station winced… it seems the boy really takes after his Mother if he's got her shout down.
In Kang's office, Tenzin had arrived to explain to his eldest son about the new law Tarrlok had gotten to pass.
"Is the man insane? All this is going to do is instigate them more!" Kang roared at his Father.
Tenzin had his fingers in his ears and took them out after his son stopped with his yelling, "You have my wisdom and your Mother's yell, that's for sure," the monk quipped, trying to lighten the mood and getting the ringing in his ears to stop.
Kang had scowled at that, "Thank you Father, I've been practicing."
Tenzin lost his sense of humor and looked at Kang with utmost seriousness, "What now?" the monk asked.
"We have to be careful. We cannot step on the Nonbender's toes and hope things stay peaceful within those said neighborhoods he's targeting… but we know that isn't going to happen. That man really enjoys creating messes that you and I have to clean up. Sometimes I feel like he's infuriating me on purpose," Kang groaned and Tenzin nodded.
"Keep me updated on anything new," The Airbending Master said.
"You do the same for me too, Father," Kang said.
…
Nightfall had occurred and Kang was in the middle of his paperwork when his phone rang.
"Kung Lao stop calling me on this number—" he soon stopped scolding as he heard shocking news from the other line, "…he did WHAT? Okay, I'll be there."
He slammed the phone on the hook, almost destroying the phone. He stormed out of his office and did an all out sprint into the garage. He soon hopped on the motorcycle and drove off to where Tarrlok just messed up big time.
…
As he rode his motorcycle around Dragon's Flat Burrow, the first thing Kang noticed was the complete lack of electricity. The lampposts and the traffic lights weren't working, and none of the houses he passed on his way to the protest had any lights on despite being late at night. The Dragon Flats borough was one of the poorer areas in the city and power outages did happen there every once in a while. However, a power outage during an Equalist protest was simply too much of a coincidence.
He soon was encountered by the person who called him. Kung Lao was there as he informed Kang of what happened.
As they were walking, Kung Lao was talking, "So my theory is that the Equalists had decided to cut off the power supply and pin the blame on the government and the Police Department, thus instigating the people to defy the curfew and to start a protest that I informed you about. It certainly seemed like something a cunning scoundrel such as Amon would come up with."
"What's the status now?" Kang asked.
"See for yourself."
The Metalbender was about to call the Police Department from his radio to ask for the specific location of the protest when he caught sight of several lights some distance ahead of him. Kang and Kung Lao kept walking forward, Kang ready to see for himself how the commotion was being handled. He just hoped nothing had gotten out of control and that people hadn't resorted to violence yet. Once he arrived at the protest Kang and Kung Lao got a closer look at the situation.
Kung Lao was right, a large crowd was standing behind a barrier shouting at police officers. There were at least two hundred civilians protesting, including old people and mothers with their children. Several vehicles were parked around, and out of the corner of his eye, Kang saw Asami's satomobile among them, which meant the rest of Team Avatar had to be there as well.
"Kung Lao, stay close to me."
"Got it."
As Kang with Kung Lao accompanying him approached the protest on foot, something struck him as odd. Despite the various insults that were being thrown around by the people protesting, nothing seemed to indicate this was an Equalist manifestation. No flags were being waved, no pamphlets were being handed out, and no one was being physically assaulted. If anything, Kang had the feeling the police officers were the ones who were about to move against the protesters, not the other way around as he had been expecting.
The Nonbending Chief recognized one of Tarrlok's task force members circulating around the perimeter and he hurried his pace. When the man saw him coming, he tried to ignore Kang by walking away, but he was forced to stop dead in his tracks when Kang called for his attention.
"Officer, please stop!"
The officer did as told and turned around. Despite being a member of Tarrlok's task force, he was still an officer of the Police Department who had to respect the chain of command, and Kang's position far outranked his. "Chief Beifong, sir," the Officer said.
"I would like to speak with Councilman Tarrlok. Take me to him, please."
"Sir, Councilman Tarrlok is very busy right now. He wishes not to be disturbed by anyone," the Officer said.
"What he wishes, is irrelevant. I am your Chief, not him," Kang said in a calm tone. He was starting to get annoyed, but had to remain calm, "Now, PLEASE take me to him immediately or I'll have you in my office so we can discuss disciplinary action for disobeying direct orders."
"R-Right this way, sir," the officer afraid of Kang's calm, yet angry demeanor.
Kang and Kung Lao followed the police officer, who led him to a big tent not too far away from the protest. Officers blocked Kung Lao, but Kang said that the latter was with him so they let him through. The two saw Councilman Tarrlok talking with the rest of Team Avatar, but due to the distance and the overall noise, he couldn't make out what they were saying. However, judging by looks alone, it seemed like they were in the middle of an intense discussion.
'If they're arguing about something while a protest is going on, then there's no way things are going to end well tonight,' the Nonbender thought as he walked past the officer, motioning him to leave with a wave of his hand.
"Avatar Korra, I will not repeat myself a second time. Get out of here and leave this matter to the competent authorities. You and your playmates have interfered long enough," Tarrlok was speaking to them, but was interrupted as Korra looked past his shoulder.
"Kang!" Asami was the one to call him. Team Avatar and Kang with Kung Lao soon gathered together and confronted Tarrlok.
"What is the meaning of this Tarrlok?" Kang asked in confusion, "These people are no Equalists as far as I can see. Just Nonbenders who want their power back," Kang said in an argumentative tone.
"These people are the enemy, Chief Beifong," Tarrlok countered.
"No! They're not! Now turn the power back on," Korra ordered.
"I suggest you and your playmates return home, Avatar Korra, and leave this to the professionals," Tarrlok said in a dismissing tone.
"We are not done here Tarrlok; you go behind my back to retrieve some of my officers to help you with this absurdity of an Equalist rally. That is something I can't just stand by and watch," Kang said with frustration in his voice.
Tarrlok just glared at Kang and shouted to his men, "Round up these Equalists!" he ordered.
As the Officers were about to do so, Kang stood in front of all of them and cupped his hands close to his mouth.
"All officers stand down! This is a direct order from your Chief to stand down," Kang ordered and none of the Metalbending officers moved, "Any attacks on these people will be met with equal force Tarrlok, so I suggest you tell your men to stand down."
Tarrlok growled at the Nonbender and saw Asami and sent a water whip to catch her arm.
Asami saw the water around her arm and struggled, "Hey, let me go!" she shouted
"You're under arrest," Tarrlok stated
"What? You can't do that!" Mako said in surprise.
"Actually I can. She's a Nonbender in which her father is a known Equalist conspirator," Tarrlok states as he pulls in Asami, but an escrima stick hits his hand as he loses control and the stick returns to Kang.
"Asami Sato is under my protection Tarrlok. She has been interrogated personally by me and holds no allegiance to the Equalists," Kang says as he steps in front of Asami, "I should have you arrested for assault, Councilman."
"You're a toddler playing an adult game, Chief, you should go back to your playpen," Tarrlok growled at Kang.
Kang said something in defiance, "Shows what you know, I've been playing this game since I was a small boy."
They each stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, till Tarrlok spoke, "You win this round Chief Beifong, but know this… you've made an enemy today," he warned gravely.
Kang said nothing as he and his friends all watched leave and started to head to the civilians. The crowd thanked him and Korra, though Korra felt like she didn't really earn it since Kang did most of the talking.
She was going to have to talk to Tenzin about some negotiation strategies… she was really just going to beat Tarrlok up if he didn't cooperate. She was thankful that Kang was here to moderate the situation.
"Korra, Mako, Bolin, this is Kung Lao, he's a friend of mine and Asami's," Kang introduced.
The said man bowed to Korra, "It's an honor to finally meet you, Avatar Korra and to you gentlemen as well. I just wished that we'd met under better circumstances."
"Please it's just Korra with you," Korra said, "any friend of Kang's is a friend of mine."
"Alright well, you guys head home where it's safe. Kung Lao, go with them, you'll be safe with my Father," Kang said, "I have to go back to the office."
"Alright," Asami said reluctantly, "Promise me you'll be careful."
"I always am," Kang said.
"Good," Asami said.
"Alright, let's get going," Kung Lao said. Korra nodded as she and the rest of the group with the addition of Kung Lao headed back to the island.
…
After Kang returned to the office, he managed to hear his phone ring.
"Hello…" Kang said, "…what? I thought you were at the Island. You're checking out a supposed Equalist base? Okay I'll be there."
Kang soon hung up his phone and got on his motorcycle and rode it around the corner into an alleyway. When he got off, he unsheathed his escrima sticks and was on high alert as he was searching for his friend. As he did, he soon smelled something and was disgusted as it was burnt flesh. Kang went towards the scent and opened a door that needed to be lifted and was shocked to see who it was. Kung Lao was burnt with his whole body being charred.
"No!" Kang ran to check on Kung Lao in denial that his close friend was killed, but was soon knocked out.
As Kang fell down three Triad members dropped to the ground and tied up the unconscious Kang and put a sack over his face.
"Take him to HQ," the Triad member said, "Dreadful Dai will be pleased."
…
Tarrlok was in his office when he phoned someone.
"Did you get him?" Tarrlok asked.
"Yes we did," the person from the other line said, "Dreadful Dai, head of the Agni Kai Triad, is in debt to you Tarrlok."
"Don't worry about it," Tarrlok said with an evil smile, "think of it as a mutual opportunity. I need to get rid of Beifong and you guys want him punished for what he did to Dao two years ago, let's just say we're even."

A/N: This is a rewrite of the story and this will take longer to write! I also want to let people know that this story is inspired by Ominious442's story, a Test of Metal as it has an interesting what-if scenario; that being while Lin and Tenzin were together, what if they had a son. I took some liberties as instead of Kang being an Earthbender, he couldn't bend any element at all. But to make up for it, Kang is not only a master martial artist and acrobat, he also has a sense that assassins do which is called Eagle Sense in the Assassin's Creed fandom, but in LOK, it's a sixth sense that only Kang has. Here is the character and his VA:
Kang Beifong - (CV: Crispin Freeman - Sounds like Roy Harper from Young Justice and Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
