Chapter 12 - Gift

"Big brother, I would like to ask you something," Lily said.

"What is that?" Dave asked wiping his lips with a napkin.

"Brother, ever since you came back from that dungeon, you have been acting.... weird," Lily said looking at him.

"Weird how?" Dave asked with a confused look.

"Before you don't talk back at people who bully you and say hurtful comments. You would rather avoid fights and endure it. But now..... You seem different," Lily said.

"Don't you like it now," Dave asked.

"No it not that. You are pretty cool now and I heard people talking about it. I was just curious what caused the change," Lily said.

"Don't think much about it, just know that I would always be here to protect you," Dave said as he ran his hand through her hair.

"Okay," Lily said with a smile.

"But brother, don't think you can bribe me with your words. I am still expecting my gift," Lily said.

"I never had hopes on that. When you are ready," Dave said with a smile.

"We can go now," Lily said.

"Are you not going to play with Sama?" Dave asked with a grin on his face.

"Maybe later, now you can take me to the gift," Lily said.

"Okay okay, let me get ready first," Dave said as he stood up heading to the bathroom.

Dave paused at the door and turned to Lily; "Don't worry when I am done I will inform you," Dave said.

"Uhm okay, I will wait for you then," Lily said as she stood up and left his room.

Dave entered the bath tub and filled it with water.

"System, when is the next training stage?" Dave asked.

"The training reset every 24 hours. You have 22 hour remaining for the next stage," The system voice said.

"Okay, I will prepare for it then," Dave said.

"Notice, each stage has it own different mission. The chances of getting similar mission as your previous one is slim," The system said.

"What? So I can't even prepare for the test," Dave said with a hiss.

"I better be fast so as not to keep Lily waiting," Dave said to himself as an image of Lily's angry look flash in his eyes.

"Okay, we can go now," Dave said to lily who sat on a wooden chair scribbling something on the ground with a stick.

"Okay brother," Lily said with excitement as she stood up.

They head to the market in the village.

Dave had a very large amount of money in the card and he had no fear of running down. Making Lily smile happily was worth a few amount.

"Brother, what do you think of this dress?" Lily asked as she came out from the dressing room.

She wore a white knee length gown which had a embroidery of an orchid at the side of the waist.

"It looks beautiful on you," Dave said with a thumbs up.

"You think so too right," Lily said with a smile.

"Good that you like it, the clothes coupled with the other selected clothes is 50 silver," The attendant said with a professional smile.

"50..... 50 silver?" Lily asked with wide eyes.

"That too much, what if we take only this one?" Lily asked the woman.

"This alone is worth 15 silver," She replied.

"Don't worry, we will take it all," Dave said.

"But...." Lily was saying but was cut short by Dave.

"I wanted to give you gift, so stop overthinking and just enjoy the moment," Dave said as he handed the attendant his card.

She took it and looked at it for a moment before a frown settled on her face followed by a look of disbelief.

"This.... This card," She stuttered trying to find the right words.

"Please hurry," Dave said understanding her expression.

Only the big wigs in the village can possess one. It is an international card owned by the black markets which allowed individuals with a large amount of wealth to keep safe.

Looking at the number on it which showed Dave's exact amount she couldn't help but feel astonished.

She was a low attendant and had only seen it once when the village leader sent Mr Edward to get him something so she couldn't verify it authenticity.

"Pleas hold on a sec valued customer," She said as she left in a awkward manner.

Sensing the difference in treatment, Lily looked at Dave with a questioning gaze but Dave just shrugged his shoulders.

After few minutes of waiting, the attendant came back with a man.

"Are they the VIP customers?" He asked her in a low voice.

"Yes, he is the one who handed me the card," She replied.

"Good morning esteemed customer, I am manager Matthew. Sorry for the wait. We have confirmed the authenticity of the card and the transaction was successful," He said as he hand Dave the card almost as if not wanting to let go.

"Okay, we will go now," Dave said as he took the clothes he had bought and the card before turning to leave with Lily behind him.

After Dave left

"Who is him?" Manager Matthew asked himself.

"For him to have that card he must be from a powerful force. Did I just miss a chance to link up to him?" Manage asked himself inwardly feeling the urge to cry.

"Now that I think of it, I have finally found out," The attendant said.

"Found out what?" Manager Matthew asked.

Yesterday while you were away, the village head called for a celebration for a man. I was a bit late so I only saw a quick glimpse of him. He definitely is the person from yesterday!

"What, all that happened while I was gone?"

Manager Matthew asked with a suprise look. He even had connection with the village head. Linking with him is the best choice," He thought inwardly.

Meanwhile, Dave and Lily continued to stroll round the market with their loads getting heavy as time passes.

"Brother are you sure it okay? You have been buying a lot for me today," Lily said looking at Dave.

"Don't worry about that. Let head to that antique store," Dave said pointing at a pavillion in front of them.

"Okay," Lily said as she followed him.
