As they spoke, Emeka sauntered over, his grin wide but brittle. "Hey, you two! Plotting world domination or what?"
Farhan shrugged, casual to a fault. "Nah. Just killing time."
Dewi glanced between them, unease prickling her skin. "You two seem… close."
Emeka's smile tightened. "We go way back. Same high school."
"Way back?" Dewi echoed, eyebrows lifting. "You never mentioned that."
Farhan waved a dismissive hand. "Not that close. Just classmates, right, Mek?"
Emeka's grin faltered, collapsing into something hollow. "Yeah. Just classmates." Her laugh scraped the air, sharp and unconvincing, before she turned abruptly. "Later."
Dewi watched him retreat, his shoulders rigid. Farhan sipped his drink, feigning nonchalance, but the ice in his glass crackled louder than his words.
As Emeka stormed off, Dewi called after her, feigning innocence. "Wait—where are you going? We're supposed to hang out at the mall with Austina!"
Emeka paused, her smile a thin veneer over simmering resentment. Dewi recognized the mask—she'd worn it herself too often. "Maybe another time," she said, voice clipped.
"Before Christmas, maybe? I've got… stuff to handle."
"Sure," Dewi replied, watching her disappear into the crowd.
Farhan frowned. "What's her problem?"
Dewi leaned in, lowering her voice. "What was she like in high school? You never really said."
Farhan scoffed. "Why're you so obsessed? You've asked me a dozen times. But fine—she was a jerk. Hot-tempered, lied constantly, bullied people. My friends tried to set us up once. Hard pass. How've you lasted three months with her? I don't get it "
Dewi's eyes gleamed. Time to play her card. "Because… she's into you."
Farhan nearly spilled his drink. "What? I just know that and what is connected with my life? "
"Swear it. But keep it quiet—she'll kill me if she finds out I told you." She leaned closer, conspiratorial. "Meet me in the library tomorrow after class. Bring any old photos, journals, whatever you've got on her. Fitri'll be there. We need to… connect some dots and i will tell you everything why it will affect your life"
Farhan nodded, curiosity overriding skepticism. "I've got diaries from middle school. Videos, too. But what's this about?"
"Just trust me." Dewi stood, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
" Oke fine, i will. But don't forget—Sebastian's preferences and whatever he likes. Send me that list because i needed"
"You're still on that?" Dewi face became crazy cause of it
Farhan smirked. "Every detail matters. See you tomorrow."
