After watching the dramatic conclusion of the 100 meters final race, Dewi felt a pang of hunger. Her mind shifted from the competition to her growling stomach, and she decided to find a nearby street vendor to satisfy her cravings. She quickly made her way towards a street vendor near the university.
As she entered the street vendor, her gaze landed upon Fitri, who was enjoying a meal alone, completely immersed in her own thoughts. Feeling a sense of camaraderie, Dewi decided to approach Fitri and asked if she could join her.
" hii fit, can i join.... to sit with you?" she ask politely
" ehh dewi, sure obviously...."
Fitri, surprised but pleased by Dewi's request, gestured for her to sit down beside her. She scooted over, making space for Dewi, and continued to eat her meal. Dewi settled down on the spot, grateful for the company. The two of them sat in comfortable silence for a moment, their shared meal creating a cozy atmosphere.
Dewi took a moment to look through the menu and, noticing what Fitri was eating, decided to order the same dish – bakso beranak. She called out her order to the street vendor, and soon enough, a steaming bowl of flavorful bakso beranak was placed in front of her.
Dewi and Fitri began to dig into their meals, the warm and savory flavors of the bakso beranak filling their mouths. The conversation between them was casual and lighthearted, as they discussed the different events of the day, the results of the races, and the weather. They exchanged small jokes and shared a moment of relaxation and friendship, appreciating the simple pleasure of good food together.
While Dewi and Fitri were eating together, enjoying their conversation and the warm and savory flavors of their bakso beranak, they suddenly heard the blaring sound of a siren. The loud, urgent signal cut through the air, catching them off guard and interrupting their pleasant moment. The sound repeated itself two times, signaling impending trouble - a flood.
The sound of the siren sent a shiver down Dewi and Fitri's spines. They exchanged alarmed glances, recognizing the danger that the flood warning represented. They hastily put down their food and quickly stood up from their seats, knowing they needed to find safety and high ground before the floodwaters reached them.
" come on, dew!!" she pull out her hand and run away from there.
" haiikkk....."
Fitri and Dewi ran as fast as they could, their feet moving quickly to reach the university building as quickly as possible. Their goal was to get to higher ground, specifically the upper floors, to avoid getting stuck in the terrible flood approaching.
Fitri, who lived nearby( her high school was close ), had experience with this kind of flood before. She had experienced a flood that was truly horrible, one that had nearly cost her her life. Luckily, someone had come to her rescue and saved her from drowning. If it hadn't been for that person, she would have definitely been lost to the flood.
As they finally reached the upper floors of the university, they were greeted with the sight of many students rushing past them, their panic palpable. The teachers had quickly raised the boundaries or fencing around the school grounds, attempting to create a protective barrier to prevent the flood from overwhelming the school and causing damage similar to last year's disastrous flood.
Once the boundaries were in place, the teachers also retreated to higher ground, seeking safety from the rising waters. The school was now partially shielded by a protective dome, designed to withstand the impact of flash floods and prevent the buildings from collapsing.
A few minutes later, the flood was seen coming from a distance. It can be seen that the flood is very fast and the current is very loud even from afar. Everyone was terrified, including Dewi, Fitri, Ajeng & Rian who were on the 10th floor.
" that's so scary...." Ajeng said with holding Rafa's hand. What Rafa did was just rub her hair to calm her down.
Meanwhile, Fitri hugged Dewi because she still remembered her past events. She was completely frightened, even with just that voice.
" don't worry, i'm with you... I don't know what happen to you but i'm with you, don't forget that..." while hug her and holding her hand to keep them warm
Dewi then took Fitri to her room so that she could relax more and there was a sound blocker there so she couldn't hear the terrible sound of water.
Shortly in front of her room, it turned out that her room was locked from the inside. Dewj knocking hard but there was no one. They stood there for 4 minutes long and from nowhere, suddenly the door opened.
"hmm... what are you doing here, Rian? I thought you going to your room?" she ask woth craziness voice
"Ah, my apologies. So basically, we were both sleeping in my dorm room, but a few minutes ago, people started running to the roof because the flood is coming. So I had to carry him since he didn't wake up. I was about to open the door to you, but my bones are feeling very tired from carrying him all the way up from the fourth floor to this room where we are now, so sorry about it" Rian panted out the explanation, his voice weary from the physical exertion.
" so, from that sleeping, he even not waking up? How can?" she really feeling weird and dumbfounded in the same time
" yeah, i don't know, i wanna waking him up like singing, pull his mouth, ears or nose, opening his eyes, but he really don't wake up. Is he really tired? "
" uhmm, I don't know, but it's been three hours so basically not weird"
"anyways, why she still your hug... is she scared?" he ask with curiosity
" i don't know, probably she is"
" come on in, i don't think she's fine" Rian told to her because he kinda scared what happen to Fitri for doing that.
Dewi then brought Fitri inside and put her to sleep in her bed.
' poor her, i don't know what happen but i feel it'
Before leaving, she then looked at Sebastian and checked his breath. When checked, he was still breathing so she was relieved.
As Dewi and Rian finished locking the room and were about to head towards the roof, the floor beneath them suddenly began to shake violently. The building seemed to shudder under the force of something powerful, the trembling continuing for a full ten seconds.
Dewi and Rian exchanged worried looks, their suspicion confirmed - the flash flood had come, and it must have struck this building.
When they arrived on the roof, their worst fears were confirmed. They saw the flood had enveloped the entire building, submerging the third floor in a devastating wave of water. The scene was truly terrifying.
All of people there were truly horrified by the sight before them. The floodwaters had transformed the area into a vast sea of mud, completely submerging the entire building and surrounding street vendors. The street vendor that Dewi and Fitri had recently visited was now completely engulfed by the raging flood, its original location no longer visible.
Both Dewi and Rian could only stare in shock and disbelief at the extent of the destruction that had unfolded.
Everyone there prays that everyone there will be saved and avoided from danger,
" Sadhu!!"
" Ameen!!"
They pray in unison!
Because of that, Games Day was stopped due to this natural disaster and maybe after the flood fell, each student was given a week off because the school had to be cleaned of the remaining mud that was carried away by the flood, like last year.
