"It's not up to you now!"
A minute ago, Sergey received a message that the invasion of some orcs would soon begin! From shock, he almost crashed into a tree... Quickly finding a safe place to cross, he removed the car and returned to the shelter. Fortunately, he managed to leave the territory of the city and was on the outskirts.
"Solomon, report!" - finding himself in front of the laptop, said an excited Sergey.
"Boss, Anet relayed your words about the invasion, but we don't know where the attack will come from or the number of attackers. We distribute weapons to everyone who knows how to shoot.
"Find Alice and take all the new ones who can fight!"
"Yes, boss!"
"System, can I find out from which side we are being attacked?"
Can.
"How?"
Find out for yourself.
— …!!
"Okay, I know you can tell me, is it difficult for you or what?" But you will look at a good war.
A second-level spatial beacon.
"Thank you!" Stop! I can't use the store...
Can. Spatial interference occurs only on the way to another fragment.
"It turns out that since my shard is floating to nowhere, there is no interference, and since the lord is swimming towards us, he has begun to interfere?"
Yes
"Thank you!"
Sergey ran to the store and quickly found a spatial beacon, the second level somehow became available to him at once! But after a little thought, I realized that the shelter had received a level, accommodating more than one and a half thousand people, and this is more than 15 thousand experience...
Dimensional Beacon Level 2
A dimensional shelter drifts among the shards of dead worlds. This structure allows you to find and attract these shards.
Manual observation mode is available.
Grants access to new features of the Hideout system.
Price: 32,000
"Well, it's not worth a damn thing!
Despite the price, Sergey bought a lighthouse and installed it near the City Hall. The lighthouse turned out to be a pyramid three by three meters and two meters high. The pyramid was made of gray-black monolithic stone, inscribed with lines that shone with blue light.
Above the pyramid, at a height of about two meters from the top, a ball made of the same material as the pyramid hangs in the air. The orb was also inscribed with blue glowing lines, and it also emitted a faint hum.
"And what am I going to do with this unknown shit??" Sergey said, standing in front of the pyramid and looking at the ball.
Climb to the top of the pyramid
"Uh... okay.
The man climbed the stairs and found himself at the top of the pyramid, which was a small square plane inscribed with some kind of runes emitting red light.
"I'm here, what's next?"
"Would you like to come in?" Suddenly, an emotionless voice rang out in my head.
"Yes, I do!" Sergey was confused at first, but quickly realized, but the incomprehensible voice caused goosebumps.
In the next instant, the man's body soared into the air and entered the ball, which turned out to be liquid. For a split moment, Sergei was overcome by fear, but it quickly passed, and admiration took its place.
He found himself in the middle of a completely black space, and around him shone stars, millions of stars, from barely noticeable to huge. But at the same time, all the stars were moving! Barely noticeable, but they were moving... No, not like that, it was not the stars that moved, it was Sergey himself who moved!
Looking at him, he saw only a silver outline of a figure, and under him he found a very bright star, but concentrating on it, he saw his square of the earth, which surrounds a bright radiance, and the radiance is most powerful in places of large crowds of people...
Looking around the area, he noticed another star, it was rapidly approaching, intending to collide! The star was slightly smaller than the Vault Star and did not shine as brightly.
"If I understand correctly, the number of living creatures inhabiting the spatial shard affects the radiance?" Sergey asked the void, but it unexpectedly answered!
Not really, the brightness of a spatial shard depends on the level of spatial detection. The higher the life force of the creatures that inhabit the shard, the higher the detection rate.
"But it's so easy to tell that the enemy is stronger, isn't it?"
Yes, but there is an opportunity to reduce the detection rate and mislead the enemy.
"Can I lower my detection rate?"
You can, but the opportunity will not appear soon.
"So, Sergey, think logically. I don't think he attacked as soon as he saw my shard, so maybe he doesn't know about the replenishment yet... I wouldn't attack a shard that's twice as bright as mine... Or he noticed a change in brightness and sent a reconnaissance. After making sure that nothing terrible had happened, he went all-in and attacked...
"Well, he'll attack from the south!" It's cool! I want to leave... space? Is this place? Lighthouse?
In the lighthouse version, Sergei was carried back to the shelter. He immediately ran to the laptop and began to set up his defense.
"Damn, it's all so expensive...
The boss was designing a wall, a huge reinforced concrete wall... Given the size of the shelter, the wall turned out to be more than one and a half kilometers long (1732 meters)! A meter wide and twenty meters high (plus two meters deep). Steel loopholes and protected machine gun points were installed on top of the wall. They protected the soldiers both from the side of the wall of fog and from attacks from above.
It was possible to move on metal platforms four meters wide, installed on the wall, capable of supporting the weight of an SUV. Searchlights reliably covered the entire space in front of the wall and in the future about a hundred meters beyond the fog.
Massive steel buffer gates were installed, which would withstand at least a dozen shots from a howitzer. And all this stuff cost 148 thousand coins and 80 tons of fabric... An interesting fact is that the shelter can transform iron, copper, aluminum and other matter into steel. But the transformation greatly reduces the benefits of using this matter...
After making sure that there was no one in the construction area, with pain in his heart, he confirmed the construction. Twenty meters from the second layer of the fence, a huge wall rose from the ground with a strong rumble, instantly arousing the interest of all the residents of the shelter. A minute later, Solomon arrived with the newcomers (Hubert, Blaise, Emmanuel).
"Boss!" Does this mean that the enemies will attack from the south? Seeing the wall, the large man asked.
"Yes, Solomon, I have acquired a device that allows me to detect this. And it all cost us... In general, I spent almost all the coins... Arm the people, we'll pile on those bastards! They'll be responsible for every coin spent! Sergey clenched his fists in anger, of course, he had been thinking about investing in defense for a long time, but... This is an extremely inopportune time! If he had collected more matter, he would have saved at least fifty thousand coins... And new residents need to be settled somewhere...
Social injustice, when some live in cozy apartments, and others sleep on the damp ground, covered with a rag, can very quickly develop into conflict and stratification of society...
"Yes, boss!"
All four ran to their men, then brought all those who were able to fight to the armory, where Sylvie gave out all the available weapons. Fortunately, there was enough of it in abundance, but, unfortunately, the lion's share of weapons are submachine guns, and shotguns with pistols... Not the best weapon for defense from the wall, but for lack of a better one, you have to make do with what you have...
At the moment, the Hideout has the following weapons:
128 pistols, various brands and models;
100 SIG Sauer MPX submachine guns;
140 Remington Model 870 shotguns;
22 assault rifles of various models;
4 swords of the third level;
31 second-level swords;
8 bows of the second and 2 third levels;
Two dozen Axes of Chance
several boxes of grenades and two machine guns.
What the newcomers had not yet been taken into account, but they looked like at least three dozen assault rifles.
Three commanders brought with them three hundred fighters, 312 to be exact, some of whom were militia who took up arms, but even so, it is a powerful force, considering that there used to be 56 soldiers in the shelter... 57, to be exact. A captured soldier of the French army was released and given a weapon in his hands so that he could defend his... Prison...
Activity boiled at the southern wall: some fighters took up position, others dragged ammunition and equipment to the walls, hiding them in special protected places. The professor and Martha organized a field camp thirty meters from the wall, Louis hurriedly prepared more hellish cocktails.
Unfortunately, this is too difficult and dangerous work, so Louis could not take assistants for himself... Well, that's what he thought, it turned out that the man who was previously responsible for the production of a flammable mixture in the Basilica had survived, which Emmanuel did not hesitate to talk about, and now Louis, together with a new friend, was intensively creating death cocktails.
There were two minutes left before the invasion, every person in the shelter was tense and excited...

Some time ago, the palace of the Spatial Shard Lord Terr Ge.
The palace consisted of many bones of some giant creature and blood-red stone in the floor and had about two dozen rooms. In the center of the palace was a huge hall, lit by many torches, it contained the skull of some ancient lizard, which was several times larger than the skull of a tyrannosaurus rex. In this skull, a throne was set up from the bones and skulls of some humanoid races.
On the throne sat a huge three-meter creature, somewhat similar to a human. Scarlet skin, an unusually massive body and limbs, an almost complete absence of a neck and a bald head, inscribed with many tattoos. The creature's face was stern, and two huge fangs protruded from its mouth.
The creature, propping up its cheek and chin with its hand, was boredly waiting for something, and then the massive doors opened, and a similar creature entered the room, but older and smaller. The skin of the creature was gray-orange, and it was dressed in hooded robes, scarlet tones.
"O great one! O invincible one! O supreme warrior! O father of the people! The scouts are back! The creature spoke.
"Shu, speak. The creature on the throne replied with interest in his eyes.
"The scouts reported. I got the goal. More than a thousand slaves. Are there any warriors among the slaves? Unknown. Their defense. Nothing of myself. He does not. Easy prey. Shu spoke slowly, it wasn't intentional, it's just that these creatures can't speak otherwise, their breathing rate was incredibly high. After two or three words, they had to inhale and exhale.
"Oh, great Terr Ge. Do you order the soldiers to be trained?
— Yes. Two thousand. Young. And a hundred warriors," Terr Ge opened his mouth and showed a multitude of needle-sharp teeth in perfect condition. His voice was strong-willed and had a mysterious power that made Shu involuntarily want to fall to her knees.
"Oh invincible. But won't it be? A lot? Almost everyone. Booty. We will have to divide it. Between the young," Shu said and fell to his knees, hitting his forehead against the bloody stone that made up the floor.
"Tara (the name of the people) is starving. Last two defeats. We were greatly weakened. Only through battle. The young will become warriors. And if he dies... There will be fewer hungry mouths," Terr Ge smiled with a grin.
"Yes, O great one!

"Don't shake so much!" Everything will be fine, was it in vain that I invested so much money in this wall? Sergey said, standing on the wall, peering at the wall from the fog.
"But the boss... What if these orcs will be stronger than us...
"Guy, you saw the bodies of those scouts, a bullet in the forehead and no orc. Don't waste your enchanted stra ahead of time..." Sergey didn't have time to finish when a slight earthquake began, and the wall of fog began to dissolve rapidly. Showing an army of strange creatures behind him.
*ta is the language of Tara, the creatures that were called orcs in the shelter.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Kill! Kill! Kill!
Thousands of warriors with bright orange skin, dressed as they were, and armed with whatever they could. They screamed and beat on their wooden shields. The warriors were practically naked, some had partial protection, such as a helmet or a metal breastplate, but most were in rags. Each warrior was at least two meters tall and sturdy for his species.
Only behind the army stood a hundred warriors in excellent equipment. Their head, torso, and part of their legs were well protected by something between chain mail and plate armor. The shoulders were richly decorated with dozens of skulls of various humanoid species. They were armed individually, someone had a sword, someone had a bow, a two-handed axe, a spear... There were also very exotic options that no one had heard of before.
Behind a hundred warriors stood three shamans dressed in the skins of unknown animals with bone staves in their hands. They hummed a strange song, which made the first ranks of warriors blush with rage and impatiently wait for the command to attack.
"The Great One has commanded!" Kill! Capture! Plunder! The largest warrior shouted furiously, and the army rushed to the walls. Some of the warriors had logs in their hands, with the help of which they planned to overcome the wire fence, which was reported by intelligence, but something did not go according to plan.
"Fire!" First of all, aim at those with logs and remote weapons! Beware of the spears, what if they start throwing them at us! Sergei shouted, giving commands.
The orcs easily overcame the first and second layers of the fence, but after...
"Ha!" Bullets work! They're not that scary, ha-ha-ha-ha," came the voice of one of the fighters, who fired a burst at the orc running towards the wall, turning him into a bloody sieve.
Orcs are larger and more durable than humans, but it didn't really help from two dozen 9mm cartridges that hit the body... The orc wheezed something and fell to the ground. And this happened along the entire front line! Submachine guns and assault rifles proved to be extremely effective against almost bare flesh. But even on those rare occasions when a bullet was met by armor, the bullet came out victorious. Having lost about half of its killing power, the bullet pierced the flesh, although it did not kill, but caused severe pain and caused bleeding.
The orcs dragged the logs, but they weren't long enough to get over the wall, but even if they tried, they wouldn't be able to do so. Anyone who approached the logs was immediately turned into a sieve.
"What's going on!" Where does the wall come from! Intelligence officers about this. They didn't! The army commander roared.
(ta) — O most bloodthirsty one. It seems that the goal is rich. And she managed to erect it. Strengthening. Command the soldiers. Join the battle. They'll figure it out. With a goal. One of the shamans standing at the commander spoke and sang a spell that strengthened a hundred warriors.
Having received the order, the soldiers entered the battle and headed for the gate. More than three dozen warriors turned into monsters of various shapes and types, some sent enchanted arrows at the defenders, and there were those who lifted stones with the power of thought and threw them at walls.
"System people! Focus fire on those armored orcs! Archers and mages! They are your main target, machine guns, also connect! Noticing the change on the battlefield, the boss gave new commands.
The warring parties tirelessly poured magic and arrows on each other. The beasts rushed to the gates, some climbed the walls like spiders and crawled up, but they tried to kill them first. However, some still managed to climb over and the first victims among people appeared... Fortunately, there were few such cases, and the orcs were seriously injured, so they failed to carry out a massacre. Enchanted arrows and skills hit the loopholes that absorbed the lion's share of the damage, but even so, the soldiers began to be injured, although their places were quickly taken by others.
At the moment, the defenders had eight machine guns. They didn't even look if the orc had armor or not, the machine guns didn't care, the bullet pierced through both the orc's flesh and the orc's armor...
Fortunately for the humans, the orcs attacked only a small section of the wall, near the gates. Therefore, the battle was fought not on one and a half kilometers of the wall, but only on 300-400 meters. Of course, this did not mean that Sergei left the rest of the wall undefended, but he still threw the lion's share of the fighters into the epicenter of the battle.
"Boss, shall we burn the with them?" Solomon asked that he had already changed the tenth magazine for his assault rifle and began to worry about ammunition reserves...
"yes, of course, you've seen what this shit is capable of. It will turn our walls into dust. And things seem to be going well, they have already mowed down almost all the enemy's system specialists, and the trifles are almost helpless," the boss commented, looking at the battlefield.
The orcs managed to drag the logs and tried to knock out the gate with them, there were several attempts to throw the grappling hook on the walls, but ended only with attempts. By the middle of the battle, the orcs dragged huge ladders, but the fire mages were against such an initiative and burned the orcs along with the ladders. Someone thought of putting the bodies in a pile and climbing over the walls, but the bullet between his eyes quickly calmed him down.
Realizing the futility of trying to get over the walls, the orcs concentrated on the gate. Especially the commander of the orcs, who turned into a four-meter creature that looked like the illegitimate son of a turtle and a rhinoceros. But the infamous fire mage nicknamed "Pyromaniac" arranged a branch of hell on earth for the monster, investing all his mana without a trace in one single attack. At the same time, staining the gate with soot! For which he will definitely get into trouble.
The invasion has been repelled, congratulations on the victory.
After the last orc died, Sergey saw a message from the system. In the entire battle, not a single orc even thought of retreating. The last of the orcs were shooting at the goal with their last strength, hoping to break through and arrange a massacre... But the gate did not give way. Although the orc commander still managed to crush them a little...
