"If you go to the Hokage's office, you might never come back, and the orphans at the orphanage will be left without anyone to care for them!"
Genya spoke softly to the furious Toshi, his tone very mild.
But these words hit the room like a thunderclap, leaving both people stunned and their heads ringing.
They were puzzled by Genya's words, which seemed both surprising and confusing.
"Genya-kun, what do you mean by that?" Toshi asked with a frown, looking at Genya.
He was only going to the Hokage's office; how could that be dangerous?
"Hehe, do you know that Shimura Danzo is a close friend of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen?" Genya asked, looking directly at Toshi.
Toshi nodded. "Danzo's friendship with the Third Hokage is well-known, but I believe the Hokage will not be biased. He will definitely investigate Danzo thoroughly and ensure that the ninja who sacrificed for the village can rest in peace."
"Hehe, do you think the Third Hokage knows that Danzo is secretly abducting Konoha orphans for experiments?" Genya asked again, looking at the naive Toshi.
"Uh…" Toshi fell into thought, his voice hesitating. "He… he probably doesn't know!"
Toshi began to doubt his own thoughts. When he mentioned the Third Hokage, there was no honorific in his tone, only detachment.
"Toshi-san, it seems you still don't understand. How could the Third Hokage not know about Danzo's schemes?" Genya said, shattering Toshi's final illusions about the Third Hokage. He added, "If you go to the Third Hokage, even if he doesn't take action against you, Danzo won't let you go."
At this, Toshi's expression grew pale, realizing the possibility.
Moreover, Genya was right; if Danzo was doing something, it wouldn't be possible to hide it from the Hokage.
Danzo's experiments on people might even have the Third Hokage's tacit approval. If Toshi exposed Danzo now, it could be very dangerous.
"But how can the Third Hokage tolerate Danzo harming the orphans? They are the children of fallen ninjas, the last of their bloodline!" Toshi said anxiously. He truly didn't know how to resolve the situation. He looked at Genya and asked:
"What should we do next?"
Toshi was really at a loss. If he didn't go to the Hokage to appeal, how could the safety of the orphans be guaranteed, especially if people were targeting them?
"Don't worry. You should visit the orphanage more often and keep an eye on the children. If you find any promising ones, take them in as disciples and keep them close!"
Genya said with a sigh, looking at the anxious Toshi. He continued, "In the meantime, I'll ask my father to donate some supplies to the orphanage and keep track of the orphans' names. I'll arrange for people to look after them regularly!"
Sighing again, Genya added,
If he were in charge of the Uchiha Police Force, he could openly guard the orphanage.
Unfortunately, he didn't have that power.
"Well then, I'll leave the orphanage's matters in your capable hands, Genya-kun. I am deeply grateful!" Hearing Genya's detailed plans, Toshi's expression calmed, and he grew even more impressed with Genya.
Such a young age, yet such meticulous thinking.
Worthy of Trust.
He had made up his mind: if Genya could keep his promises, then Genya would be his benefactor, and he would serve him wholeheartedly.
Genya didn't expect that his plan would win the trust of a top medical ninja.
"Sensei, we've been in this ward for a while. We should go check on the other patients!" At this moment, Toshi's disciple reminded him.
Toshi nodded. He needed to process the news he'd received today. He might even visit the orphanage later to check on the children there.
So,
Toshi said goodbye to Genya.
"Toshi-san, don't forget what we discussed today after you leave!" Genya reminded them again as they were about to leave.
He wasn't ready to clash with the Root yet; his strength wasn't enough.
"I know!" Toshi nodded, but his eyes glanced through the window. He noticed two figures on a very hidden rooftop, seemingly watching the ward.
After a final exchange of glances, the two left the room.
The ward returned to its quiet state, and the next part of the day was spent in tedious training.
In the evening, Genya went home and discussed the idea of building a hospital with his father, focusing on the pros and cons.
When his father heard that it could save on medical expenses and improve the villagers' view of the Uchiha clan, he was quite tempted.
In the end, he decided to go ahead with it!
On the edge of Konoha, near the commercial area, they started laying the foundation for the hospital.
His father was always decisive—what he said, he did!
Genya also suggested that while building the hospital, they should create several secure underground rooms. He didn't tell his father that he wanted to use them as a laboratory.
Instead, he explained that these rooms would be for important patients to ensure their safety and to avoid disturbances.
Uchiha Kinya agreed readily.
While Uchiha Kinya was planning the hospital construction, Genya had Senju Hayashi move to his home and arranged a room next to his own. Senju Hikari also got a new room!
His mother warmly welcomed the two siblings. Perhaps she felt lonely as a housewife and was looking forward to having a young girl to talk to.
From that day on, a breathless little girl kept following Genya during his morning runs.
Uchiha Police Force!
Today marked the tenth day of Uchiha Fugaku's tenure at the Police Force. Over these ten days, he had been overwhelmed with numerous trivial matters, and he had even developed a few more gray hairs.
He had never managed the Police Force before and was surprised by how many issues there were every single day.
For the past few days, the team of over a dozen people had been working non-stop, with barely any time for sleep at night.
As the clan leader of the Uchiha, Fugaku was exhausted and close to collapse.
"Clan Leader, we've been reported to the Hokage again. Someone said we knocked over their stall during our patrol, and they're demanding twenty thousand ryo!" At that moment, a ninja with dark circles under his eyes burst in, his face devoid of any expression.
His initial anger over these issues had turned into numbness, and he had lost all hope for the Police Force.
"What? Another fine?" Fugaku immediately stood up. His once sharp eyes now showed signs of fatigue, with more bloodshot veins. He continued to ask, "What did the Third Hokage say?"
At this point, Fugaku no longer addressed Sarutobi Hiruzen with any respect.
