Skylar's POV
I hit the bed with a soft thud, catching my breath as I pushed myself up on my elbows. Alec hovered over me, his eyes dark, the room almost suffocating with it. His body pressed against mine, the heat radiating from him made my heart thump harder. But I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.
He didn't scare me.
Yet.
Regaining some control, I threw him a sharp glance. "What do you mean, 'worse than that'?"
Alec's smirk deepened, that infuriating, arrogant look he wore too well. "If you had bothered to read the headline of Clause 1(b), you should've read the entire thing." He paused dramatically, his hand gliding down my arm as if to emphasize his point. "But of course, you didn't."
Damn it. Of course, I hadn't. I was too caught up in surviving this nightmare.
"I skimmed it." I cleared my throat.
"Skimmed?" His fingers trailed lazily up my arm. "You skimmed the clause that binds you to me, Skylar?"
