-CHAPTER. 06-
Brak!
"How do you guys work?! We've been given three months to complete the SPT report in installments, but what's the result?! There are still some misses in the employee expense report, the total inventory report in the general ledger is also the same with the physical data!"
I lowered my head in fear, interlocking my fingers squeezing each other to normalize my pounding heart.
It wasn't the usual pounding that someone who was in love felt, but rather the pounding of extreme fear when seeing a boss's rage at his subordinates.
"Who is responsible for making monthly bookkeeping? Why in August and October are the total bank entries and bank statements missing with bank statements?! You work here and are paid according to the standard wage for employment in Jakarta! Even equipped with office facilities that allow it. But why is it still so disappointing like this?"
"I don't want to know, you do everything from the beginning of the problematic report and tomorrow morning before the briefing it will be finished on my desk. Understand?"
"Understood, sir." I answered timidly along with the other employees.
After Mr. Firmaan walked out of the briefing room, I and the other staff let out a sigh of relief that we had been holding in as he vomited all his larvae in front of us.
This morning, without any wind or rain, after the briefing and collecting the reports that would be the basis for the SPT to be reviewed, Mr. Firman called us all back to the briefing room with a confused expression and a terrifying aura emanating from his body, as if a predator ready to prey on its prey.
My premonition immediately felt uneasy when the door to the briefing room was closed. My premonition was right, because without further ado, Mr. Firman immediately threw the reports that we had worked on one by one onto the briefing table with a bang and vomited his hot lava just like that.
"Des, as far as I remember, the last night we worked overtime, none of the reports were missing, right? But why is it like this now?" Mr. Cahyo asked, to which I immediately nodded my head. "Yes sir, the last time we worked overtime, all the reports were perfect. Seriously sir."
I was also very surprised. The last night I worked overtime with Mr. Cahyo until twelve at night, all the balance reports were perfect.
Even earlier Mr. Firman said that the incoming and outgoing bank transfers for August and October were not the same as the bank statement.
That was impossible, every time I wanted to give a monthly report to Mr. Handoko, Mr. Cahyo and I would always match the total bank transfers in GL with the bank statement.
We would never miss that because it was very important. I really checked the total petty cash and made sure the balance between the debit and credit positions, let alone the bank transfers.
"Where do you keep the report files, sir?" Mba Fanny asked, making me look at Mr. Cahyo too.
"In the usual drawer where I keep the annual files, Fan."
"Is the drawer locked, sir?" I asked, just to make sure.
"Locked."
I frowned in surprise when I saw the anxious expression on Mr. Cahyo's face.
Don't tell me..
"But two days ago I found this drawer open and the report file that was at the bottom, yesterday was in the middle."
I widened my eyes in disbelief. So did Ms. Fanny.
"Are you serious? Then how come the drawer was open, sir? You're the one holding the key."
I nodded my head in agreement with what Ms. Fanny said.
"Actually, the day after we worked overtime that night, I lost the drawer key. I've looked everywhere but I still can't find it." Mr. Cahyo's words made me exhale roughly. No wonder.
It's not that I want to accuse someone inside who is being mean to us. But if you look at what Mr. Cahyo said and the strange incident today, maybe what I suspect is true, right?
"Huh, but never mind. It's happened. We have to revise this so that tomorrow morning before the briefing it's finished."
What Ms. Fanny said is true, the rice has become porridge. Now all we have to do is mix the porridge so that it tastes delicious when eaten.
Say Hello to overtime tonight, hohoho.
***
I frowned in surprise when I just entered the office lobby, several pairs of employees' eyes looked at me while whispering. Not infrequently there were also some who looked at me with cynical looks.
"Des, hurry up upstairs, the finance division room is really chaotic." said Mas Gilang, making me frown in surprise.
"What's wrong, sir? Is it really bad?" I asked and was answered by Mas Gilang nodding his head.
Arriving at the finance division, I widened my eyes in surprise to see several employees gathered at Dara's desk with her sobbing.
"Well, this is the Deska just arrived. Come here Des."
I just followed suit when Mba Fanny pulled my hand to get closer to Dara. I could see Mr. Cahyo's face was bright red as if he was holding back his emotions.
"What's wrong? It's already so crowded early in the morning." I asked when I was near Dara.
"You can ask Dara directly, why are the keys to my drawer and the financial report files that we worked on last night with her!"
Rounding my eyes in surprise. I immediately looked at Dara asking for an explanation, why did she do that?
"This is all because of Mba Deska! If it weren't for Mba Deska who is always praised for her success and role model, I wouldn't have done something embarrassing like this!"
"Hey, be careful when you say that, don't blame Deska! Besides, what does it have to do with you if Deska is always praised for her success and exemplary behavior? That's already the point! Oh! Don't tell me you're jealous? That's why you do lowly things like this, huh?"
I held back Ms. Fanny's hand that was about to approach Dara, I don't know what she was going to do but I held her back so as not to cause more trouble.
"People like this need to be taught a lesson Des! Because of their jealousy, we're the ones who get the brunt of it!" Ms. Fanny grumbled, struggling from my grip.
"Let's solve this problem with a cool head, sis. Besides, the rice has become porridge. What do we want to get angry about, all of this has happened and passed because Mr. Cahyo and I have finished it all."
"But Des-"
"What's going on with all this noise?! Didn't you see the time to start the briefing has arrived? You haven't gathered in the briefing room for five minutes, don't expect me to approve your gathering request!"
After Mr. Firman said that, all the employees who had been gathered in the finance division immediately flocked to the briefing room.
I, who intended to talk to Dara for a moment, had to be delayed when the woman just walked away while bumping her shoulder into mine and making Ms. Fanny who was beside me growl in annoyance.
"That kid is really something! Besides, why did the HRD staff approve her to work here?!"
"Come on, Ms., let's join the briefing first. Rather than getting scolded by Mr. Firman."
Ms. Fanny and I walked together to the briefing room with Ms. Fanny who was still grumbling in annoyance with Dara's childish attitude and nature.
***
"You should be grateful and thankful that we didn't report your actions to Mr. Firman, do you know what would happen if Mr. Firman found out about your actions? Today the termination letter would be on your desk!"
I just kept quiet listening to Mr. Cahyo's words who were talking to Dara.
Mr. Cahyo and I agreed not to tell Mr. Firman about this problem. This was also for the good of the name of the finance division employees in the eyes of other division employees.
"You didn't apologize or thank Deska? You're so shameless!"
Rounding my eyes in surprise, I gently rubbed Ms. Fanny's shoulder who had been very annoyed with Dara since she first entered this office.
"Enough, Ms. Don't prolong this problem, okay?" I said patting Ms. Fanny's shoulder gently before turning to look at my computer, typing a weekly report.
"But Des, you are too soft and forgiving. Don't let yourself be belittled and treated like this!"
I should have remembered that if Ms. Fanny was angry and didn't like someone, she would keep on reviewing that person non-stop.
Even without hesitation, she would talk about her dislike in front of that person directly.
I glanced at Dara who was typing calmly, without feeling disturbed or guilty because of her actions.
Huh.
I have been struggling in the world of work for more than five years. More or less I have met various kinds of people's characters. Especially characters like Dara's.
When I first worked at a sole proprietorship company engaged in the service sector, I even met a division with a person with a character like that.
So now I am not too surprised to meet people who have a character like Dara and prefer to keep quiet. Because people with a character like that will get worse if their opponent rebels.
I will let this problem pass. Rather than prolonging it and ending up destroying the ties of friendship between us.
