Chapter 2 - tragedy of life

Hours passed by as Arin and James finished up their work . Once done they walk through the village, as they notice the scarce number of residents hanging out in the streets. Soon enough the circus comes into view. Each step bringing a large colorful tent into view. However, nearly out of sight just behind the James notices circus workers freaking out, causing him to pat down his lucky knife. The two of them continue on towards the front entrance. The rest of the day was filled with entertainment and wonder, even if James had a bad feeling. As night fell, the show ended with a pyramid of juggling clowns. James and Arin were heading home to their cottage at the edge of town, when they heard a scream nearby. James says to Arin, " were close to the house run home and get an axe". Not even giving Arin a chance to speak back James ran off. So a grumbling Arin races home to grab an axe, and head to the screams. Meanwhile, James arrives at the source of the scream. It was Carla and her younger daughter Marel, they were being cornered by an Orthus. As the beast closed in, James had to act quickly in order to save them. So James pulled his lucky dagger and threw it. The blade flies through the air, and sinks into the rear of the Orthus. As a result the beast chooses to focus on him which wasn't good. James was now unarmed, but is also the new target of the monster's fury. All-the-while, Arin rushes back axe in hand; each step faster than the last. So James ducks and dodges attacks, as if he was a man half his age. However, he is unable to fight back do to a lack of weapon and the beast moving too much to grab his dagger. Soon enough Arin arrives with a stout," I'm here Grandpa." So he became a target of the Orthus, causing James to grapple a head of the beast. Making the other head, bite down on James' shoulder in an attempt to make James let go. Arin tries to rush only for James to yell," stay there or get the girls away! Now toss the axe my way, so I can kill this beast." Arin tosses the axe, then ushers the girls away keeping his eyes on James and the beast. As Arin and girls get out of sight, James dismounts and readies up as he picks up the axe. Then he charges in, as the orthus charges up a fireball. The fireball flies right by James' head as he ducks under. Though, the orthus is startled as the axe is brought down onto the left head. However, despite it almost being a clear win for James; the right head takes a chunk out of the Oldman. This happens as Arin arrives with two guards, only for them to witness the gruesome scene unfold. James steps back, as he coughs up blood holding his wounded side. With each step he takes, the orthus stumbles one forward. This goes on till James falls on his back, and tries to crawl away. But the orthus tries to close the gap between them. Arin rushes in to help his grandfather bare handed. Upon reaching the Orthus, Arin plants his foot in its side sending it to the ground. He rushes to his grandpa to help him get away. Then as he turns, the orthus has scrambled to its feet. Arin dodges the bite, and grabs onto the stuck axe and aggressively dislodged it. The orthus writhes in pain, until Arin plunges the axe into the beast second head.
