CHAPTER 10
"Oh-" Sean said, coming back to reality. "I'm fine grandma, I was just thinking-"
"About Camille? That's her name, yes?" she asked, smiling.
Sean grunted and glared at his grandma. "Yes, that's her name. Camille Riley."
"Aww. My grandson is really in love!" She squirmed, her face shining brightly.
Sean's face was turning red for reasons best known to his cheeks. He brought out his phone and fixed his eyes on it.
"You know…I still remember the first day you wanted to approach a girl. You were just five."
Sean cursed under his breath. "Grandma-"
"It would be fun sharing it to your wife. Wouldn't it?" She asked cheerfully.
"Anything that will make you happy, Grandma." He said almost whispering.
"Today is going to be beautiful!"
He ran his fingers through his hair exasperatedly. Few minutes later, the maids walked into the dining room with trays of food that rested on their palms.
They walked inside the room in a straight line and carefully placed the trays of food on the long white table.
"Where is Camille?" Grandma asked. "Is she not coming for breakfast?"
"Yes…she's coming-"
Soon, Camille climbed down the stairs like she was counting her steps. Her fingers grabbed the rail like her life depended on it. Sean's words were stuck in his mouth as his gaze fell on Camille. Her hair was let don as it swayed on her waist.
"I'm sorry, grandma, for taking your time." She said as she sat down on the chair kept for her.
Grandma shook her head. "Not to worry, my dear, none of my time was taken. Do enjoy yourself."
"You are so kind, grandma. Thank you so much."
"So..how did you guys meet?"
Grandma broke the silence that had lingered.
Camille set a nervous gaze at Sean, but he ignored it and smirked seeing how hard she tried to form a lie.
"We met in the hotel at a bar." Dominic said.
Camille's eyes widened. "How can this man be so shameless?! What will his grandma think of me now?"
"Oh.." Her voice fell low. "…that was rather an unusual place to meet your spouse in my time." Grandma said looking at her food.
Camille wished she could pounce on Sean now, she could feel the sense of disappointment in grandma's voice.
"Camille isn't exactly a person who visits the bar. That was the only place she could go to at that moment. She told me that was her first time being there." Sean tapped his fingers on the table.
"Oh! Really? Dear Camille, next time you go to a safe place, alright?" Her expression lightened up.
She nodded. "Yes grandma. She glared at Sean who still held a smirk.
He stood up and straightened his broad shoulders, making the chair squeak.
"I'll be leaving for work now, grandma." he said.
She smiled and nodded. "I hope you join us for dinner today."
His jaw twitched conspicuously. Camille held her breath and kept expecting him to respond but he stayed silent for a while before walking to the door, suddenly he paused.
"Camille, my card is on the table in my room. Do with it what you want?"
Why did he suddenly become annoyed? She couldn't understand his relationship with his grandmother. A minute he's responsive to her emotions, the next he's not. Neither did she like how he said what he just said, she didn't even ask for it.
His foot clacked on the Italian tiles as he stepped out without sparing a glance. Grandmother's eyes became sullen as her shoulders slumped.
"I wonder when he will be able to control his emotions." Grandmother commented.
"Why did he suddenly change his emotion? Because you talked about dinner?" Camille asked.
She nodded. "Yes, because of that. But there is more to it."
"And what is-"
"I'm not sure I'm in the right position to tell you, Camille." She disrupted her words.
Camille nodded and ate back her words. She refocused her attention on her food through the dinner and walked back to her room.
She found the platinum card on the table, her face etched in irritation even though she was silently grateful for it. Sean was already doing his own part, she had to do hers. She knew she had to.
Now that she had got nothing left, money was the most important thing in her life.
Since she had divorced Fredrick, perhaps she would not be able to work at the company of the William family anymore, so she had to find herself a way out.
Thinking of this, she hesitated for a moment and took out her phone and made a call.
Once the call ended, she walked towards the table to hold the card, it was very flat and it could slip out between her fingers. The edges were coated in golden designs with Sean's full name inscribed on it.
"Should I use his cards or should I use mine? The money in my account is not even enough to get me the things I need to live in this house."
'Oh God!' She slumped on the bed and ran her fingers on her long hair.
"I guess I will have to use his card, but I won't spend much. I have respect for myself." She concluded, angry at herself for relying on someone she hardly knew.
