I smiled at his question. It was a stupid one, because he had to know I did. But this wasn't just because I loved him. It was just…right.
I've been in that little boy's situation, I've tasted what it felt like and I wasn't going to subject him to that sort of pain. His mother already didn't even like or want him.
A deep breath fled from me and I went up on my tippy toe, kissing his cheek. "I love you, Sylus. I am mad, but not really at you, so don't worry."
He stared at me like he couldn't believe me. "Where is the boy?"
"I left him with my father," he responded. I walked over to get into the bed, suddenly tired all over.
"Is your father okay with that?"
"Why wouldn't he be?" Sylus asked, moving over to get into the bed with me. "My dad is a kid person, I think you should have noticed by now. He took care off Hana back there, have you forgotten?"
