My father Christophe looked me up and down, a frown on his face. "Tell me the truth, boy. I asked you the last time, but you wouldn't admit it."
"What truth?" I asked. "Harley is my wife, my responsibility. You are acting like you are not the one who taught me that. I have to find her, and until she's back with her father safely, only then will I take a step back."
He stared at me. And slowly shook his head.
"What have you done, Sylus?" Christophe peered at me like he could see deep within me what truth I was hiding. He crossed his arms. "Will you truly let her go? Because I don't think you will, not my boy I'm looking at right now. What do we need to fix?"
My brows furrowed, and I stared at my father in confusion. No, I wasn't confused. I knew what he meant, but I couldn't answer. What would I even say? All I could manage was, "I didn't...do anything. There is nothing to fix."
