"Didn't I tell you these creatures are terrifying?"
As the fox spoke, Tōshirō could feel her body trembling slightly.
Imagining himself in the place of the seal being beaten, Tōshirō could feel some of that fear.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, gathered his courage, and began walking slowly towards the killer whales in the shallow area.
Since the fox was being carried, as Tōshirō approached, the fox also drew nearer, and she couldn't hold back and said loudly, "What are you doing?"
"I want to try to communicate with them."
Tōshirō was betting that these killer whales spoke the human language. Additionally, he was wagering that the whales here shared the same life habits as the whales in his previous life.
"You're crazy! If you want to die, don't drag me with you."
The fox jumped out from Tōshirō's arms, not wanting to be swallowed while still young.
"Don't go, you'll get killed."
The fox wasn't particularly interested in this human, but if he died, where would she find such delicious food again?
Tōshirō gave her a reassuring smile, unaware that the fox cared for him somewhat.
He cautiously approached the shallow area and began shouting loudly at the killer whales, hoping to attract their attention.
The killer whales stopped playing as soon as they heard the sound and looked towards its source, seeing a harmless bipedal creature.
The curious young whale asked, "Mom, what is that two-legged creature?"
"Ponfu, that's a human child."
"Human child, can it be eaten?"
"No, this is not a creature to be eaten. It's as intelligent as we are. I haven't seen a human in a long time; let's greet him."
Then the mother whale led some of the young ones and swam towards Tōshirō.
Honestly, when the huge killer whales approached Tōshirō, he was about to run away.
Fortunately, the killer whales did not show any hostility and approached slowly, unlike their hunting manner.
"Hello."
Tōshirō greeted them politely, hoping for a response.
"Hello, human child."
Tōshirō let out a deep sigh of relief; these whales could talk and seemed friendly.
In nature, killer whales are known to be fierce, but for unknown reasons, they were friendly towards humans and sometimes even helped them.
Killer whales are selective about their food, hunting sharks and other whales just to eat their livers. Some say killer whales have a strict diet that doesn't include humans, but in reality, killer whales even eat some exotic birds. The prevailing theory is that killer whales prefer intelligent creatures.
This encouraged Tōshirō to communicate with them and won his bet.
"I am Tōshirō. Due to a summoning technique, I found myself in this place. Can you tell me how to return?"
In one sentence, Tōshirō conveyed his name, origin, and purpose.
At the same time, he intentionally kept his last name a secret.
As one of the strongest families in the shinobi world, the Uchiha clan must have enemies who might have killed the masters of these psychic beasts here. If he revealed his name recklessly, he could be targeted for revenge.
"Sorry, I can't help you with that."
Tōshirō felt disheartened, but the mother whale's words rekindled his hope: "But the Snow Empress might be able to help you. I can guide you there."
"Really?"
Tōshirō's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Then, ride on my back, and I'll take you to her."
The mother whale was unexpectedly friendly.
In his previous life, Tōshirō had never even ridden a horse, and now he would have the chance to ride a killer whale. This was an exciting moment for him, so he eagerly agreed.
"Don't go, they're deceiving you. If you enter the water, you'll be in danger."
At this time, the quick fox, who had been hiding far away, suddenly came and warned the blue fox not to fall into the trap.
Tōshirō was stunned.
As the quick fox said, if these killer whales were very malicious and tricked him into entering the sea, the situation would be like "the fish on the chopping board, and I am the fish," meaning he would be in great danger.
Good intentions were deemed insignificant, and the nearby killer whale let out a displeased sound, spraying a column of water from its back, saying: "If you don't believe us, that's fine."
The quick fox whispered in his ear: "Have you forgotten how they treat seals in the sea?"
The mother killer whale said in a gentle voice: "Little fox, if you are afraid of us for that reason, you have misunderstood. We don't do that to humans, or rather, to creatures we can communicate with. So, since you speak our language, we are friendly to you as well."
"Liar," responded the quick fox, shaking his head, indicating that he was smart and wouldn't be easily fooled.
The mother killer whale looked at the blue fox, smiling, and said: "When it comes to eating, don't you humans have a bigger say than I do, right?"
Tōshirō nodded, having to admit the truth in her words.
Humans, when eating, naturally can't consider the feelings of animals because animals can't communicate with humans. Imagine if the pig that humans eat daily suddenly became able to talk; would humans be able to eat it with as much ease as before?
It would probably be hard to swallow then.
The killer whales were friendly to Tōshirō because they shared a common language.
"Okay, I'll trust you."
Tōshirō decided to take a risk.
He was so small that he wasn't even enough to fill the gap between the killer whale's teeth, so Tōshirō believed the killer whale had no reason to deceive him.
When the young killer whale (Ponfu) saw that Tōshirō was so smart, he felt even more friendly towards him and said, "As a human, you understand things well, unlike this fox. So come and sit on my back."
Although the young killer whale (Ponfu) was still a child, his size was significant due to his innate talent, already reaching six to seven meters long, making him capable of carrying Tōshirō easily.
"Is that okay?"
The young killer whale (Ponfu) boasted: "Don't judge me by my appearance; my speed is not slow."
"Then I'll gratefully accept the invitation."
Tōshirō spoke politely, but in truth, he wanted to ride the larger mother whale for more comfort. However, he didn't refuse the young killer whale's offer since he was so enthusiastic and to avoid appearing ungrateful.
Tōshirō and the killer whale reached an agreement. Before leaving, the mother killer whale unexpectedly asked the fox spirit: "Do you want to come along?"
She could see that this little fox and the human were not in the same team but had met by chance for some reason.
The quick fox shook his head, curious about the inside of the icy island but more afraid of dying.
The mother killer whale smiled and said: "Aren't you curious to know why you are different from other foxes?"
"Umm... how do you know?"
Since birth, the quick fox noticed she was different from her siblings, good at talking to humans but not so good at communicating with other foxes, which led to her being ostracized by her kind.
The mother killer whale gave her a cryptic hint: "You will know when you arrive..."
"What should I do? Should I go?"
The quick fox hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to go and explore.
She jumped like a sparrow a few times, then hopped onto the killer whale's back, curled up into a ball, and said softly: "Look, it's cold, I'll be your hat, what do you think?"
Tōshirō: ...
This little fox was clearly afraid of dying, yet spoke in a heroic tone.
Tōshirō didn't expose her trick and left her some dignity. Honestly, the fur hat was very warm.
After that, Tōshirō rode on the killer whale's back, and they headed smoothly towards the icy island, sailing through the waves with all their might.
The killer whale appeared bulky, but its speed was undeniable. If it weren't carrying someone on its back, it would have swum much faster.
"What do you think? Didn't I say my speed isn't bad?"
When Tōshirō heard the killer whale's question, he quickly responded and praised: "I used to think sharks were the strongest creatures in the sea, and I didn't think there was a sea creature stronger than the shark."
Tōshirō climbed onto the whale's back, and the journey to the ice island began smoothly.
The killer whales proved to be fast and efficient in the water. This was an exciting experience for Tōshirō.
"How did you find the speed?" asked the whale.
"Amazing! I didn't know there was a sea creature faster than sharks."
"Sharks? We eat them as food."
"Amazing."
"It's not just about hunting; sometimes we hunt creatures much larger than us."
"You are brave."
"Yes."
With this friendly conversation, the bond between Tōshirō and the killer whale deepened. Tōshirō wanted to sign a summoning contract with the killer whale, to use it as a companion in the future.
"Would you like to be my summoning companion?"
"Summoning companion?"
"Yes, you will have the chance to see the outside world."
Tōshirō tried to persuade the whale, but the whale didn't show much interest.
But the fox, who was lying on top of the killer whale, listened to the conversation with increasing enthusiasm. She jumped off his head, wagged her tail, and looked up at Tōshirō with her eyes sparkling like little stars: "So, if you don't mind, I can be your spirit beast."
"You?"
Tōshirō glanced at her skeptically, noting that her small size made her fit for nothing more than being a warm hat or selling her cuteness.
"Sorry, I mind a lot."
As with everyone who gets rejected, the fox wanted to know why.
Tōshirō: "You're not useful at all."
Tōshirō waved his hand dismissively and said with disdain: "Go play somewhere else and don't bother me while I'm talking to Big Brother Killer Whale. You're too small, I can't use you as a spirit beast. You can't even serve as a mount."
"Humph, doesn't being a spirit beast mean being a mount? I can do that too."
Tōshirō: ???
What kind of nonsense is this?
