Chapter 148 - Chapter 148: Happy Birthday

A puzzled expression appeared on Tōshirō's face as he climbed out of bed and walked to the door. When he opened it, a familiar, beautiful face came into view.

Seeing her, Tōshirō's face lit up with a happy smile. "What's up? Visiting me in the middle of the night?"

"What, am I not allowed to visit you for no reason?"

Tsunade, now back to her usual self, retorted playfully.

"Of course, you can. But it's so late," Tōshirō teased.

Realizing her excuse wasn't convincing, Tsunade decided to stop pretending. "Actually, I do have something to talk about."

"Let me guess, didn't get enough of the 'smooches' earlier?" Tōshirō joked with a smirk.

"Not talking to you anymore!"

Tsunade's face flushed bright red as she turned to leave in embarrassment.

Tōshirō quickly grabbed her wrist, smiling apologetically. "Don't go; I was just kidding."

He gestured her into the room.

Tsunade stepped inside, her face still slightly red. Tōshirō closed the door and returned to her side, curious. "Alright, what's so important that you're here in the middle of the night?"

"It's not exactly something super important..." Tsunade clasped her hands nervously, her thumbs fidgeting as her eyes darted around the room.

"Wait, don't tell me—you still want more kisses?"

"Of course not! I'm not that shameless!"

"Really? Well then, I guess we'll never do that again."

"I never said I didn't like it!"

"Oh~~"

Tsunade glared at him fiercely, making Tōshirō shut up instantly.

"Close your eyes," she suddenly instructed.

"Huh? Why?"

"Just do it!"

"Alright, alright…" Tōshirō complied, closing his eyes, though he was visibly confused.

Tsunade took a deep breath, made a hand sign, and with a loud "poof," white smoke enveloped her.

"You can open your eyes now."

When Tōshirō opened his eyes, a stunning sight greeted him.

Standing before him was Tsunade, dressed in a black maid outfit adorned with lace edges. A large, adorable bow tied at her waist, and her legs were wrapped in snow-white stockings.

It was his favorite maid outfit.

Blushing, Tsunade shyly asked, "Do you like it?"

"I love it," Tōshirō blurted out without hesitation.

But as his initial excitement subsided, confusion crept onto his face. Why would she go to such lengths, especially this late at night? It couldn't be just to please him, could it?

Tsunade's sweet smile broke his thoughts. "Happy birthday."

"My birthday?" Tōshirō was startled. "You've got it wrong; my birthday's on February 7th. It's not even close."

Tsunade shook her head. "If we count the time we've been in this world, today should be your birthday."

It felt like something was caught in his throat. His eyes moistened.

At that moment, he realized why she had been acting odd for days.

She hadn't been unprepared earlier—she had been waiting for this day.

Reflecting on his occasional selfish thoughts, Tōshirō felt a deep sense of guilt.

Tsunade remembered his birthday, but he couldn't even remember hers.

Overwhelmed, he knelt on the floor, his head bowed low. "I'm sorry."

The sudden apology startled Tsunade. "What are you doing?"

With his head still bowed, Tōshirō poured out all his inner thoughts, even reflecting on the times he teased her about her chest.

"You idiot…"

Tsunade gritted her teeth, clearly annoyed, but she resisted the urge to hit him.

"If you want to get beaten, I won't stop you," Tōshirō declared solemnly.

His candid confession softened her anger. "Fine... but if you ever cross the line, I'll break your legs."

"Yes, ma'am."

Tsunade retrieved a small, exquisite box from nowhere, opening it to reveal a tiny cake inside.

"I wanted to make one myself, but I was afraid it wouldn't taste good, and you'd complain," she said softly.

Tōshirō held her hand gently. "As long as you make it, I'll eat it."

Satisfied with his response, Tsunade smiled. "Wait a moment."

Making a heart shape with her hands, she placed them over the cake and whispered, "Sweet wind, make it delicious!"

Tōshirō was charmed by her gesture, recalling the time they first visited a maid café together.

With Such a Caring Little Companion, What More Could He Ask For?

To hell with a harem.

From today onward, I, Uchiha Tōshirō, am a warrior of love.

The God of Pure Romance!

Little Tsunade looked at Tōshirō, who still hadn't taken a bite, and urged, "Why aren't you eating? Or… are you upset with what I did earlier?"

"I just can't bear to eat it," Tōshirō shook his head. "I was thinking about preserving it… as a keepsake."

Was he eating a cake?

No, he was consuming Little Tsunade's full, unfiltered affection.

"If you don't eat it, it'll spoil and rot. Do you really want to smell something awful every time you reminisce about the past?"

Tōshirō thought about it and found her logic sound. Reluctantly, he gave up on the idea and took a small bite of the cake.

"Is it good?" Little Tsunade eagerly asked.

"It's delicious," Tōshirō replied, handing the cake to her. "Here, you should try some too."

Without hesitation, Little Tsunade took a bite.

The cake wasn't large, and it didn't take long for the two to finish it off.

On the bed, Little Tsunade knelt with her legs folded under her, sitting back on her heels. She patted her knees and, in a maid-like tone, said, "Master, here's your lap pillow."

Master?

Tōshirō took a sharp breath, his eyes wide with disbelief—he couldn't handle this level of cuteness.

With Little Tsunade being so proactive, it was Tōshirō who became embarrassed. "This doesn't seem right…"

"Stop overthinking it and just lie down already," Little Tsunade huffed, dropping her usual shyness for a moment to show her fiery temper.

Seriously, doesn't he realize I'm doing this just for him, even though it's so embarrassing?

Not daring to argue, Tōshirō complied and lay down on her lap. Warmth and softness radiated through her thighs, covered in white stockings.

So this is what a lap pillow feels like, Tōshirō thought. Life really is worth living.

Looking up, he saw Little Tsunade's shy, slightly tense face gazing down at him. "How is it?" she asked nervously.

"It's amazing."

"Really? That's great," she said, her unease melting away as a radiant smile lit up her face.

Tōshirō closed his eyes, lying still on her lap, his mind completely at ease.

"I'll clean your ears for you," Little Tsunade suddenly said, pulling a cotton swab from her pocket. "When I was little, I used to lie on Grandma's lap like this, and she'd clean my ears. It felt so nice."

Tōshirō opened his eyes and lifted his head off her lap.

"What, you don't like it?" Little Tsunade pouted.

"Of course I like it! But you've done so much for me already—this time, let me do something for you."

"Eh?"

Before she could react, Tōshirō gently took the cotton swab from her hand, patted his knee, and mimicked her earlier words.

"I can't with you," Little Tsunade said, feigning annoyance. Despite her words, her face lit up with joy as she lay down on his lap, her head resting against his thigh.

His lap wasn't soft at all, yet it gave her an unexplainable sense of security.

So this is one of the biggest physical differences between men and women, she mused.

"This is my first time doing this," Tōshirō said, his voice laced with caution. "If it hurts, let me know right away, okay?"

The inner ear is delicate, and although Tsunade's constitution was unusual, Tōshirō treated it as if he were handling fragile glass, carefully proceeding.

Perhaps it was because it was her first time being treated this way, but Little Tsunade was a bit nervous and fidgety.

"Stop moving," Tōshirō said. "Your ear canal is so small; it's hard for me to insert this."

"I know, I know…" Little Tsunade took a deep breath and steadied herself.

With her cooperation, Tōshirō successfully inserted the swab. His fingers lightly grazed through her silky hair as he moved gently. "Does it hurt?"

"You pushed in too far at first, so it hurt a bit, but now it's fine."

"Alright, I'll be gentler."

"Okay, go slowly."

"Hmm… wait, what?"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing…"

Why does this sound so wrong? Is it just me, or is this whole exchange overly suggestive?

But I'm only cleaning her ears…

Why does the dialogue feel… off?
