"So insignificant..."
Facing the blue giant, which towered like a god, Tōshirō appeared no more than an ant.
The colossal Susano'o raised one of its massive hands, preparing to strike down.
Susano'o was the power of the gods, an unstoppable force—unless the opposition wasn't human.
And then it appeared.
A hand.
A hand that didn't belong to a human.
A hand from the depths of hell.
"What... What is that!?"
This demonic hand gripped Susano'o's, its long, thin, silver-white fingers bent and sharp like claws of a wild beast. Its dark blue surface shimmered like smoke, exuding a sinister aura that rivaled even Susano'o's.
What on earth was happening?
Dokai was utterly shocked.
Ninjutsu?
No. The boy hadn't formed any seals.
As Dokai pondered, he suddenly noticed fresh blood trickling from Tōshirō's scarlet eyes.
"This brat... did he awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan? Was that just now a dōjutsu? No, wait... his eyes are still at the two-tomoe stage. Or... were at the two-tomoe stage—now they're three tomoe."
Through the eyes of a black cat, Uchiha Madara, watching from the shadows, narrowed his crimson eyes.
Throughout Uchiha history, it was said that certain extraordinarily gifted clan members, when pushed to the brink, could awaken a portion of their future Mangekyō Sharingan's power even while still in the ordinary Sharingan state.
(PS: This isn't made up—Obito had a similar experience.)
As the leader of the Uchiha clan, Madara had extensively studied Uchiha lore, particularly regarding Mangekyō Sharingan abilities.
Each Mangekyō Sharingan pattern was unique to its wielder, manifesting different visual designs.
A pair of Mangekyō Sharingan was an incredibly rare and precious phenomenon. Some Uchiha had meticulously documented their patterns, associated abilities, and even personal details of the users.
Initially, Madara believed that the patterns determined the abilities. For instance, his Mangekyō Sharingan's pattern differed from that of his brother, Izuna, and their respective dōjutsu powers were distinct.
However, after diving deeper into his research, Madara discovered that while Mangekyō Sharingan patterns varied, their abilities often overlapped.
A prime example was the infamous dōjutsu Amaterasu, which produced black flames that burned everything in their path until the target was reduced to ashes. These flames wouldn't extinguish until their prey was consumed.
Paired with Amaterasu was Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu technique that dragged the enemy's consciousness into an illusory world. Within the Tsukuyomi realm, the caster controlled every factor—time, location, and even mass—causing the victim immense physical and psychological torment.
These two abilities were considered Uchiha's strongest physical and spiritual attacks.
Though they were commonly paired among Mangekyō Sharingan users, their strength wasn't the result of coincidence but deeper underlying factors.
Through meticulous research, Madara concluded that the abilities awakened in a Mangekyō Sharingan depended not only on the wielder's innate talent but also on their emotional state at the moment of awakening.
Awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan required intense emotional stimulation, often triggered by the traumatic death of a loved one in their presence.
This emotional shock would give birth to overwhelming hatred and a desire to destroy everything.
And with this surge of destructive emotion, the flames of Amaterasu, embodying total annihilation, would naturally awaken.
Through extensive research and analysis of both himself and his brother Izuna's abilities, Uchiha Madara became even more convinced of his hypothesis.
In other words, the Sharingan, often referred to as the "Eye of Reflection," manifests its awakened Mangekyō abilities based on the wielder's deep obsessions or emotions.
Through the cat's eyes, Madara observed the demonic hand. Its wrist burned with dark blue flames, which gradually formed an arm.
The entire arm was dark blue, adorned with multiple white diamond-shaped patterns. Within each larger diamond shape, a smaller solid diamond shape was nested. The outer diamond was hollow, while the inner one was solid.
The structure of this arm was unlike any normal biological form. Typically, in living organisms, the upper arm is thicker than the forearm due to the need to bear greater weight and exert more strength.
However, this arm defied convention. Its forearm was larger than its upper arm, with an enormous hand and claws that were long, thick, and utterly terrifying.
Such a design was unprecedented in Uchiha records, yet Madara's vast combat experience and profound knowledge allowed him to discern the general nature of Tōshirō's future Mangekyō ability.
This demonic hand appeared to be a fragment—a mere glimpse—of Tōshirō's potential Mangekyō Sharingan power.
If Tōshirō successfully awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan in the future, his ability would likely go beyond summoning just a single arm. It might allow him to summon a complete form.
Based on the current situation, Madara believed and hypothesized:
Tōshirō's subconscious, after witnessing the overwhelming power of Susano'o, instinctively yearned for a force capable of standing against it. This desperate desire likely gave birth to his dōjutsu ability.
Madara let out a satisfied laugh.
"Heh… not bad. To think you accidentally awakened such a dōjutsu. But it's a pity...
"This demonic hand is merely a fragment of your full potential. If, in the future, your eyes successfully awaken, the complete form of this ability might rival Susano'o in its current state. But for now, your dōjutsu is far from sufficient to match this level of Susano'o."
Just as Madara predicted, the demonic hand that Tōshirō summoned began to falter. Moreover, Susano'o hadn't even been using its full power. If it had, Tōshirō's fledgling dōjutsu would have been shattered instantly.
However, this brief moment created an opening for the demonic hand to exploit.
Crackling… Crackle crackle crackle!
A freezing chill emanated from the demonic hand, spreading into Susano'o's arm and freezing it at a visible speed.
Yet, as the ice encased half of Susano'o's body, Tōshirō himself collapsed, clutching his eyes, which bled profusely and throbbed with unbearable pain.
The demonic hand, which Tōshirō had barely managed to summon and sustain, disintegrated like shattered ice, vanishing without a trace.
Dokai froze, his expression tense and shaken. "What a terrifying ability…"
He moved to use Susano'o's unfrozen arm to deliver the finishing blow to Tōshirō. However, Dokai himself soon encountered the same problem as Tōshirō.
The immense strain of Susano'o overwhelmed his ordinary three-tomoe Sharingan.
Even Mangekyō Sharingan users struggled to handle the side effects of summoning Susano'o, let alone someone wielding a mere three-tomoe Sharingan—and Dokai wasn't even an Uchiha by blood.
The accumulated side effects reached a breaking point. His body felt as though it were being torn apart, and even worse, his eyesight began deteriorating rapidly. His vision blurred, and he could no longer maintain Susano'o.
To make matters worse, a figure suddenly leaped out from behind him, roaring, "Die!"
Caught off guard, Dokai was struck squarely on the forehead by a punch, sending him flying like a cannonball.
The person who delivered the blow? None other than Tsunade.
"Sorry, it took me some time to heal myself," she said, standing firmly.
