Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - The Live Reality Game

"It pains me to reveal this to all of our employees that our company has been running low on motivation. Games created by us nowadays have no sex in them. Nobody looks forward to our new products.

"So... we've finally reached the conclusion that the design department is needed to be revamped completely. Sadly , we "need" to fire some of our employees in order to get that fun in the job back. This decision is going to start a new era of prosperity for the company."

"The following employees are to empty their current office blocks 3 days from now. They shall be receiving a healthy compensation from our company for leaving as a token of appreciation for the exciting years they've worked with us."

A sea of murmur followed within the sea of employees present in the hall.

"What are they saying?" "They're gonna fire us to get the fun back ?" "I think they've gone nuts."

"Ahem," came a distinct voice from the dais.

The murmuring stopped instantly.

"So, the following employees please stand out. Smith, Jacob; Hatzfeld, Anjelina; Williams, Jennifer; .... Christian, Martin; Parker, Alex.

"What?!"

"Do you have something to say, Mr. Parker?"

"Why're you throwing designers like me and Marty out! We created the "Galaxy" for you!, we created the "Genesis" for you! You can't possibly fire us!

"I'm really sorry Mr. Parker, but the board thinks that you are not further eligible and competent enough to work for the company. You should be grateful that the company is even considering of giving a compensation to those fired.

"Damn the compensation! what are we? Refugees or something?

You damned bozos care about nothing but money! What? Get three score of employees out cutting pay costs to save more revenue?!

"I should advise you not to use such derogatory words here Mr. Parker, or things should be worse for you. I suggest you leave instantly."

"You @#$%, you'll see what'll happen to you and your company. I will ensure your downfall!"

"Guards, please escort Mr. Parker out of the facility."

"@%$# you dammit!, I'll get you! I'll.....

.................................

Alex Parker snapped back into the present. He could never forget that fateful day, the day when he swore revenge from the company which betrayed him.

But now, the matters have escalated. What he had in his hand was an apocalypse. Its release could result in....

But there was no time. He had to see Marty and Winky.

Forgetting the steaks, Alex dashed back to his apartment. He banged open the door and sprinted to the room where his partner had been sitting.

Three wide-eyed hobbyists stared at each other.

"Well guys, these blokes poked their head in a goldmine", said Marty.

"That code is a complex set encoded in a three -dimensional iteration.", said Winky.

"In other words, They made a goddamned live reality game.", concluded Alex.

"Well... I'm gonna buy it. Had been several years since I played a really good game. This one's a first of its kind and quite affordable." Marty said.

Alex gaped at him.

"Have you gone nuts or something?, fraternizing with enemy creation?"

"Chill out bro, we never were enemies with the company or something. They were broke, they fired us. Its simple as that, you're escalating matters."

Alex gave him a defeated look and sat down on the couch.

"Anyway, where are my hamburg steaks ?", inquired Marty.

Alex felt his ears go pink."Well... I-I forgot, okay? I was just at the entrance when you transmitted this abomination."

"You'll regret what you did."

"Anyway, they're asking for player registrations for it. Though they haven't revealed that it is a live reality game, they say current player registrations would be entertained first during its release.", Marty said.

"I am putting in the names of all three of us, okay?"

"Yup", replied Winky." "And here's the SSD you asked for, 'cause I cannot hear you rattling away on the damned keyboard just to create more virtual cheat space to store your data."

"Right."

....

"Here we go, completed the registration. Took quite a long time. Lot o' junkies all over the world are interested in this stuff as well, their database is overflowing with requests. Imagine their reaction when they learn that this is live reaction stuff.

"I am intrigued how they got the solution for the complex set. This stuff is quite complicated. They literally scraped down the word "hypothetical".", Alex said.

" Well, they've grown over years and have hired thousands of developers all over the world. They were bound to get to it eventually.", Winky replied.

...

Alex popped a can of soda and made himself comfortable in the bed.

He thought to himself, " What is going on with me?, I seem to hate the company but am also playing the very game created by it. The Universe really has its ways."
