Madam Meyer smiled dotingly as she looked at her beautiful grandchildren, her heart getting filled with warmth.
"My babies! You are here!" she happily called as she opened her arms, scooped Tiana in her arms and twirled her around for one round before putting her down.
Tiana's giggles filled the space, making everyone affected with such positive vibes.
"Granny! How have you been?" Lyra and Cade greeted their grandmother respectfully, and Madam Meyer smiled satisfactorily at them as she opened her arms for the young ones for a hug.
The two kids, just like Tiana, loved their grandmother so much that they hurriedly went into her embrace and received affectionate kisses from them.
"I have been well. I just missed you!"
The kids grinned sheepishly at her response and shyly responded, "We missed you as well. We will come more in the future to see you!"
Madam Meyer beamed at hearing that she ruffled the kids' hair, making the two grumble at getting their hairstyles messed like that.
While the grandmother was busy playing with the grandkids, Logan and Briar made their way to Madam Meyer holding the gift bags.
As for the suitcases, someone was handling them already.
Seeing her son coming, walking side by side with the nanny, Madam Meyer's eyes narrowed for a moment before a mysterious glint flashed through her eyes, her thoughts unknown.
The two finally arrived in front of her, and Briar, being close to the lady, didn't expose herself or put on any air and just greeted her respectfully as always, "How are you Auntie? Have you been all this while?" worry laced in her tone as she looked at the other.
Madam Meyer, seeing Briar being her usual self, was startled a bit but didn't expose herself. She looked at her with a doting smile as she ushered her to come to her side.
Briar used Madam Meyer's ways, didn't overthink, and just walked closer to the lady with a smile.
Madam Meyer pulled her in for a hug, and that startled Briar for a moment. What was the old lady doing suddenly?
She couldn't have found out already, right?
Suddenly Briar found herself panicking.
However, when Madam Meyer opened her mouth, she realized that she was just overreacting.
"I missed you so much. Just how busy were you to not come and visit last week?" Madam Meyer's voice was laced with complaint as she questioned Briar.
Briar upon hearing that gave an empty laugh, as she wasn't expecting that kind of question at all. The others, upon hearing that, chuckled, relievedly.
That was a close call!
"Hehe, Auntie. I was out of the city last weekend. I am sorry that I couldn't visit you!" Briar truthfully reencountered about the events of last week with ease.
When Madam Meyer heard that, worry filled her eyes as she asked, "Is your brother doing well now?"
Briar smiled relievedly as she looked at the other and answered, "The surgery went well and he is now recovering."
In her tone, those listening could hear that it was going well for her.
That was the first time that Briar had talked about her family, at least in front of Madam Meyer. She couldn't help but be curious about her family in detail.
'It seems that I don't know much about her at all. Maybe it's time to get it into deeper.'
"That's good if he is now fine. Don't forget to continue to check up on him!"
"Hehe, I won't Auntie. I always check on him!"
With everyone together, they all started walking towards the mansion and on the way, it was Madam Meyer and Briar talking about the kids.
"They aren't troubling you?"
"Haha, how can they trouble me? They are good. Have you forgotten about it?"
"Hmph! These naughty kids, when they are here, they are reckless. They are two-faced!"
Briar laughed heartily when she listened to Madam Meyer's description of the kids. They were indeed like that.
At home, they were a bit restrained and yet when they were outside there, they really knew how to act. It made her wonder how their minds clicked.
Logan watched as his mother and new wife got along pretty well. He couldn't help but think that it might not be that hard to break the news to her later.
Lyra, on the other hand, was a bit nervous.
Looking at her grandmother and second mother getting along together like that, she was full of worry.
Would grandmother remain the same when she learns that father had married her?
She didn't want to see the family in chaos.
Although there were issues of having an evil stepmother, there were many issues regarding mothers-in-law and their daughters-in-law.
She didn't want to see a strain between the people that she loved. It would be a mess.
The laughter of Briar and Madam Meyer spread throughout the house and Alice, who was outside on the call, heard it.
Her expression darkened when she heard the voice that she would never forget, even in her dreams. She gritted her teeth as she said to Anna, "They are here. I better go!"
[Don't expose yourself. She is dangerous. Don't forget that.]
Alice sneered at the thought of that shameless servant.
"I won't forget. Don't worry!" she reassured her friend before hanging up.
Alice stood on her feet as her brows furrowed, thinking of ways to expose that shameless servant today.
She didn't want to continue to let that person poison her family at all.
It would be too late to regret it once the damage was done.
Feeling powerful enough to fight, Alice marched to the mansion, ready for a battle.
Inside the mansion, Briar had no clue that Alice was out to get her. Even if she knew, she would do a celebratory dance since she had been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
Briar left Logan with his mother as she and the kids headed to the designated rooms in the mansion.
With Briar and the kids gone, Logan pulled his mother to the side for a small chat.
Madam Meyer didn't know what her son was up to, but thinking about the way her son was acting a bit too intimately with the nanny, she had an inkling that she might receive some shocking news.
"What do you want to say?" Madam Meyer went straight to the point as soon as they were seated.
Logan was amazed at how fast his mother was at getting into serious business. However, he liked that part about her.
She wasn't someone who beat around the bush and wasted people's time when things could be said in a straightforward matter.
Logan smiled at his mother and Madam Meyer seeing that smile. Her premonition felt like it was coming true.
However, she still waited for her son to share the news.
"Mother, I got remarried," he calmly revealed the news without going around in circles, looking at her to gauge her response.
"Oh!" Madam Meyer didn't know what to say to that, actually.
The news was just shoved right into her face unexpectedly. She was taken aback seriously.
Although her premonition was moving in that kind of direction, she just didn't expect that her son would get remarried.
Which vixen did he get married to?
Last time she checked; her son didn't seem to be close to any females.
She was having a headache about the issue of remarriage, and yet he fulfilled that on his own.
Just who was she?
