I REJECT HER AS MY MATE
The shaft lifts from the floor. And as soon as the black Mustang drives in, the shaft goes down, concealing whatever was inside.
The driver bounds out of the car and slams the door shut. He crosses over to the other side and opens the door to the back seat. Lying on the seat with her mouth open was Eva.
Alex palmed his face. "Oh my God. How do I deal with this? She's even snoring."
"Her snores are endearing. Like music to my ears." His wolf howls.
Alex rolls his eyes. "Please."
He leans his head into the car and then upper body. Stretching his arms, he lifted her to sit and pulled her out of the backseat. With Eva in his arms, he felt perspiration run down his back.
"Goddamn, she's heavy. What did she eat?" Alex struggled with her in his arms.
"You pump irons every Saturday and yet you can't even carry your own mate. Pitiful." His wolf said.
"I never knew humans weighed this much, Max." Alex kicked the door shut and turned towards the elevator.
When he went in and pushed the floor button, Eva begins to stir awake.
"Uh-oh. She's waking up." Max, his wolf warned.
Alex didn't seem perturbed. He focused his attention on the door while Max kept howling.
"She'll wake up soon. Do something." said Max, frightened of what Eva might do when she wakes up.
"If she tries to run, I'll drag her here." Alex said in a deep voice that startled Max.
The elevator doors part to a large hallway. Alex took the long way to a brown mahogany door and he inputted the passcode by saying the Gaelic word for Fuck you. The door open automatically and he walked into the luxurious apartment where he threw Eva on the couch.
"Hey, that's not nice. What if she falls down?" Max nagged.
"If she falls, she'll get up." Alex went to grab ropes from the toolbox in his kitchen when he heard a scream.
"Oh come on." He walked back to the living room only to find Eva on the floor.
A scoff escaped his lips as he asked. "What on earth are you doing?"
"Why am I here? Where is this place?" her eyes darted around the place in fear of the unknown.
"Well, I'll answer your questions. One, you were kidnapped. Two, this is my crib." He stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Excuse me?" Eva took to her feet.
"Yeah. So if you don't want to get hurt I suggest you listen to what I say. Get your ass on that chair and keep quiet. I'll get a rope to tie you in a few moments."
"Excuse me? Is this some kind of sick joke?" Eva blurred in shock.
Alex raisedd an eyebrow. "Am I laughing?"
Eva suddenly remembers eating the burger that made her dizzy and the car crash in the woods. She realised she had been kidnapped.
"That stool if you would." Alex pointed at the stool sitting in front of the kitchen counter.
Eva's mouth dropped at the shock as he went to get ropes. Her instincts told her the next second could get messy if she didn't find an escape route. Slowly, taking off her boots, she tiptoed to the door and grabbed the doorknob.
"Even if you try to escape, you still don't know the passcode." Alex said behind her.
Eva spurn around to catch him holding a pink rope in his hands.
"I got your favourite colour if you don't mind." He said with a wink.
"You're a sick bastard!" She screamed. Then she turned to the door and banged on it. "Help! Somebody help!"
"If you scream no one will hear you. It's just us in the building." Alex inched towards her.
When she tried to run, he clenched her wrists in his hand and twisted them behind her back.
"You're not going anywhere." He pulled her to the kitchen stool.
"Let me go!" She screamed.
He leaned down to tie her feet to the stool and she kicked him in the eye.
Alex pulled away, wincing in pain. "Ugh! Son of a -
"I hope you go blind, pervert!" Eva laughed. "I never thought handsome guys were like this. I'll never trust a handsome face."
Alex peeled his hand away from his face. "I'm not hurt."
Eva gasped in shock. "How are you not hurt. I sweat I tore a tissue when I kicked you."
"Nope." he leaned down and wrapped the ropes around her feet.
"You must be a satanists. I hear they do some kind of voodoo that makes them impenetrable."
"That was all you could come up with? Jeez you go to a school that pays $1 million as tuition fees."
"Jeez. It's not my fault I'm not smart."
"Too bad then." He turned to leave when she screamed again.
"My dad will come for me. When he doesn't see me home, you're toast. There's a tracker on me. The FBI will come crashing through the roof any second."
Alex's lips grew into a grin that burst into a mocking laugh. "Tracker? The FBI? Sweetheart, I destroyed the tracker while we were at your school. You didn't even notice."
Eva recalled when Ginny pushed her. She had slipped and he had caught her. That must've been when he found the tracker on her blazer and crushed it.
Her face fell and her eyes filled. "W - Wait…"
Alex chuckled. "What about the FBI?"
"What do you want? Please, I'll give you anything but not my virginity and my life." Eva sobbed.
Alex rolled his eyes. "I'm not after those. Just sit back and relax. It'll be over soon."
"No! Please, I don't want to die!" Eva screamed behind him as he walked to the other room laughing.
After taking a shower, Alex decides to make himself a cereal bowl. As he watched the games on his phone, he could hear Eva's sobbing.
"She's hurt." Max said with sympathy.
Alex scoffed. "Please, there's not a scratch on her."
"Not physically, emotionally. I can't bear to hear her cry, Alex. Do something."
"No."
"Please, sir. Let me go and I'll never tell a soul." Eva called from the living room.
"See? She's hurt. Why would you do this to your own mate?" Max whined.
Alex clenched his fists. "For the last time, she's not my mate!"
"She is!"
"Then I reject her as my mate!"
"Is this because of what Anna did to you? Because she rejected you those years ago? It's been 5 years, Alex! Move on!"
"Shut up, Max!"
"Who are you talking to?" Eva asked.
"Shut up!" He yelled.
Eva began to cry again. "I'm sorry."
Alex palmed his face. "Ugh! I hate this job. I should've just said no."
He pulled his hand from his face and didn't hear any sound coming from the living room.
"Finally, she shut up." Alex heaved a ln elated sigh.
"Alex, something's wrong!" Max said.
"Eva!" He called but she didn't respond.
Then he heard a loud crash. "What now!"
When he went out to the living room, he found Eva lying immobile on the floor with the wooden stool crashed in broken pieces.
