"Hello, ma'am,"
"Yes, Stella?"
"There's an Attorney George Languine here to see you."
Just as I had expected. He came.
"Send him in." I say and place the phone back on the receiver.
I knew he would come. I was confident he would, but after waiting for him over the past days, my confidence was starting to dwindle. I was starting to wonder if it would be better if I reached out to him one more time, but I'm glad I remained patient because he's here now.
"Attorney Languine," I take off my glasses as he makes his way towards me. "To what do I owe this afternoon visit?" I ask with a practiced smile.
"Please, have a seat." I say and he sits himself on one of the chairs in front of my desk.
"Would you like a cup of coffee?" I ask as the hospitable host I am.
"No, thank you." He finally speaks. "I didn't come for coffee." He clearly isn't here to chit-chat either.
