Rose
"Are you done with your shift?" Kate inquired.
"Just taking out the trash!" I answered with a smile.
She went behind the counter's island and turned on the computer.
"How is your sister doing?"
"Regina's condition has improved greatly, but she's still weak." My lips explained.
Kate nodded her head.
I stepped out of the restaurant, grabbing the black trash bag.
It was already past nine, and Regina didn't like being alone for too long. My fingers open the trash can's lid and put the trash bag inside.
*Sigh
"Done!"
I turned around and saw three men standing behind me in black uniforms. They had black masks on their faces.
"She's the girl." The man in the middle murmured.
All three walked over to me while my legs were frozen on the ground. I was terrified and too afraid to scream for help.
"We have your sister!" The man on the left opened his mouth.
My heart dropped to my stomach.
"What nonsense!" I spat.
The middle man pulled his cell phone from his pants pocket and called someone.
My mind was confused and scared at the same time. He passed me his cell phone, and I slowly grabbed it from his hand.
"Hello?" My voice answered.
"Save me, sis!" Regina's sobbing voice spoke on the other side.
My eyes widened at the man standing before me, and fear crawled over my skin.
"Regina!"
"Where are you?" I raised my voice, holding back my tears.
"I have no idea, and they're all strangers!"
Before we could talk more, the man snatched the cell phone from my hands, and his thumb pressed the red button on the screen.
"Now, believe us?" He questioned.
"What do you people want from me?" I cried out.
"Why did you kidnap my sister?"
"She's sick!"
"Come with us and our boss will explain everything." Words rolled over his lips.
I quietly followed those men toward a black SUV parked near the restaurant.
After a long drive, we arrived at a mansion.
The mansion was old and had lost its shine from the outside.
"Go inside!" One of them commanded.
I stepped inside and was stunned to see the mansion's interior. It had abundance but dullness, too.
The mansion was abandoned and recently bought for use.
A man in his 50s was perched on the blue couch, and beside him was a tall man in the same black uniform as those men earlier.
"Have a seat." The old man muttered softly.
I sat on the couch across the tea table and clenched my black skirt tightly.
"Let me introduce myselfâŠ"
"Torres Romano!"
The name was familiar since it was the name of one of the mafias ruling over Italy.
"Why did you kidnap my sister?" I shouted.
A smirk arose on the corner of his mouth.
"We have a job for you."
"Job?" My brows twitched.
"Show her the photo, Vale." He faced the man beside him and mumbled.
The man named Vale passed me a photograph. The moment I saw the photo, my eyes were stunned.
It was my photo, but instead of red, my hair was black in the photo. Even my eye color was green, not brown.
"Is this my photo?" My forehead folded.
He took a pause and replied.
"That's Sofia Alessi, Kayden Accardi's wife, in the photo."
I fell from the sky!
Kayden Accardi is the most dangerous mafia boss. Even the police were afraid to cross him.
"What is going on?" My throat was dry.
"Sofia Alessi is dead; we killed her."
The photo dropped from my grip, and I got up from the couch.
"An insider from the Accardi family helped us, and now we're moving forward with our next plan."
He crossed his legs and leaned back on the couch's backrest.
"Two months ago, one of my men saw you at the restaurant, and that's when we came up with the plan of Kayden Accardi's assassination."
"Sofia was just a small sacrifice!"
Tears rolled down my eyes as his sinister words echoed through the living area.
"From now on, you're Sofia."
"W-hat?" I panicked.
"You will enter the Accardi mansion as Kayden's wife, and when the right time comes, kill him."
"I can't kill anyone!" My voice hissed.
"Your sister's life is at stake!" His devilish tone reminded me.
"Kayden Accardi loves his wife more than anything; you're just her mirror image."
"Do our job, and we will free your sister and even pay for her treatment." He offered.
"This is Vale, Sofia's bodyguard, and your most trusted man starting from now."
I couldn't believe it.
It was a huge game, and so many lives were in danger.
"Vale will be with you 24/7, so don't ever try to pull a trick!"
My lips sucked in a deep breath.
"Kayden Accardi will recognize me in no time as you said he loves his wife more than anything."
"I will inform Kayden that you had an accident and lost your memory." Vale stepped forward and revealed his voice.
"So what's your call?" The old man focused his gaze on my pale face.
I had no other choice!
Regina's life was in danger, and my sister meant the whole world to me.
I would do anything for her.
*Gulp
My head nodded as an answer.
"Very well, Sofia." He had already changed my name.
"For three days, Vale will brief you on the Accardi family and everything else you need to know.
"And the most important thingâŠyou will change your hair color and wear green lenses from now on."
Who knew I would be dragged into a dangerous crime for my face?
It was not an easy job, and Kayden Accardi was a devil risen from hell.
What if the truth comes out?
