Chapter 16 - Path To Class 1 – S ( Part 2 )

Did Leon actually choose in following Yumina rather than the princess during the tumultuous first event?

I couldn't help but conjecture that their simple yet brief exchange between Leon and Yumina could actually changed the main scenario.

From what I could recall in the depths of the game, Yumina's story route were pretty straightforward from the very beginning, as there were only two paths for Leon to enter her story.

The first option was for Leon to follow Yumina instead of pursuing Scarlett during the mission scenario 1 - 3.

And the second option was through their first introductions in Class 1 - S.

Honestly, with how being so mysterious of her character was and aloof demeanor can often put everyone at the edge of a invisible line, was such a perfect candidate for our dear protagonist to be curious and seek her out.

Hardly, could you even blame him? She one of the best heroines in the game, for a reason. Yumina's appearance may seem to have a cool and composing allure, but she was also a very caring person.

As foreign heroine who was born and raised from the distant eastern lands can be attributed to her cultural indifference, which made it difficult for other people to understand her true feelings.

And not to mention, that her physique had possessed both power and beauty, made anyone couldn't help but drawn to her unique attractiveness.

Although, their early encounter wasn't really the main problem for this sudden anomaly being occured, but it made quite difficult for me to fix the problem.

Considering to what happened from the previous two events, my intervention of these variables would be inevitable met with consequence, no matter if my actions be either direct or indirect; a butterfly effect would likely triggered.

Furthermore, Leon's placings as the sixth knight would mean that his outcome were still within predetermined path the game had predicted. Might as well concluded this undetermined class placement that shifted its natural course in addition with Borris's fate being alive was also due to my intervention of Alicia's early dispatched.

Proven that both of these actions had the same outcome, whether is was intentional or not.

At the end of the day, these drastic shifts in the main scenario that Leon and his harem were about to encounter in the near future were somewhat affected by my actions.

After all, this is what I had been intended of doing from the very beginning.

For now, I must stay in the background and make my next move once I fully understood the implications of this anomaly.

Most importantly....

(Breakthrough my current level is a upmost priority)

"As expected to my greatest rival, even taming a hoshidan girl without even get slapped." Daike amused, his hearty laugh disrupted my thoughts.

"Daike....could please just shut it!" I grumbled, a surge of frustration filled me as I addressed this dense oaf behind me.

"What? I meant that as a compliment." He retorted, his voice were booming.

"I'm tried to warn him but, he keep spreading rumors about you." Rein explained, his voice filled with resignation.

What do you mean rumors?!!!

As if on cue, realizing that I was now surrounded by the nearby students without batting their curious gazes bore into me.

"It's him from yesterday's evaluation exam."

"How did he even placed as the twelfth knight?"

"How's he was okay?"

As the weight of my infamous performance from yesterday's exam had weighed down on my shoulder, added up my frustration to a brimmed.

So much for staying in the background, yet its all gone in a heartbeat once again.

Daike....you COURTING DEATH!!!

"Martial Arts: Fierce Strike!"

Bang....!

As I went behind Daike, smashed his thick head down on the ground unconscious once again, releasing my frustration.

"Corrin.... isn't that a little too much?" Rein's voice rang out concerned, gesturing his hand with a peace mantra on the downed Daike.

"Don't worry, his physical endurance were quite high." I explained.

With a small sigh, ignoring the nearby whispers surrounded me as I focused my gaze on the towering stage before me, waiting for someone from the school staff to explain this delay.

Moments later, someone stepped up the towering stage, and a man wearing glasses strode to the front.

Clad in a strikingly black armor with a dashing coat, and embellished with countless gold medals, he exuded an air of authority akin to a competent knight lieutenant.

"Good morning, students." His began, snapped us into a commanding attention. "I'm sure that all of you have many questions by now, but please listen well and feel to ask any question after this briefing.

As the glasses man's facial features were animated before me, I couldn't help but wonder if he intend to dive straight into either on the announcement of class placement or explained its delayment.

This man with the glasses in front of me, wasn't someone that I familiar within the game, I just only hope he just announced quickly.

Then again, why hasn't this guy with the glasses introduced himself first?

The school staff's words weren't particular interesting, they mainly repeat the same reminders and information that the principal mentioned during the entrance ceremony, but in a more brief and straightforward manner.

Although, there's one key point that man with the glasses emphasized was the holy land's unique and independent monetary system.

Within the prestigious academy, their form of currrency is called "Crystalline", is a lightweight coin that distinct to a blue crystal gem and can be exclusively found or use within the holy land.

While these crystal-like coin's exchange value can coverted back into gold coins, it's worth and influence can practically lowered once it's outside the academy.

Most merchants used a universal monetary system known as "Rial", which is probably you guess it was the common gold coin.

The only way for most merchants accept these blue coins were through their children whom attend the academy.

In the holy land, there were many methods for players to acquire these crystal-like coin.

First option, players could gain 7,500 crystalline coins early through the mission scenario 1 - 7a , the evaluation exam.

Second option, they could also gained through any form of practical assessments, either from getting a very high score during exams or when completing a difficult mission.

Third option, they could also earn these coins based on the overall ranking as a student.

And Last option, the most effective way possible of earning these coins is through part-time jobs and odd jobs.

In the holy land has this guild-like system called "Point" system, depending how fast you are to finish a certain task and depending on the difficulty of that task was, you can actually rift the benefits of earning more of these coins.

Just like in the game, players upon enrolled in the holy land academy was allocated with 12,000 crystalline coins for each semester.

It was essentially imperative for casual players to spend wisely when budgeting their fundings all throughout the whole semester, unless your choose to take abusive advantage in the "Point" system by speed-grinding.

Did you know? That the implementation of "Point" system was actually solely based with same kind of system in land of the commoners known as "the Highlands".

Anyway...

At first glance, this kind of allocating funding can be quite manageable however, in truth was that most players were often found themselves reaching towards a red line in their own fundings just within the first week alone.

Even I could recall the shock during my first playthrough when I just to buy a simple meal at the cafeteria would actually cost around at a whopping 3,000 crystalline.

Luckily, it wasn't the case for other expenses such as textbooks and uniforms as it was covered by the academy.

This kind of sponsorship alleviated some financial burden for students, giving a certain degree of flexibility in their budget which enable them to focus more in studies and other activities.

So, what this man with the glasses was basically trying meant to tell us was that, we must understand this harsh reality and striving to work hard if we were to survive in this fiercely competitive atmosphere.

But, this kind of ruling were mainly applied to those students who were ranked at the lowest.

In the holy land, there was a given title to those top 12 students in each year level known as "the twelve knights", were privileged to received a 50,000 crystalline coins for each month, regardless of their status or background.

Which is the significant outcome, one that is highlighted for players when completing the mission with [ Accomplished ] battle rating.

However, the most crucial point that the man with the glasses was addressing isn't the about finances, something that I have been waiting for.

"Right now, the reason of why all of you here instead attending a class was for one reason: we simply can't ranked all of you properly." The glasses man explained, his voice weighed down with weights of authority.

A surge of uncertainty was reverberated through the tower square as students exchanged a puzzled glance.

A curious student raised her hand, she asked "What do you mean can't ranked properly, sir?"

The man with the glasses nodded as he acknowledged her question. "As I've said at the very beginning, only the top 12 students were only given all the privileged and the benefits of being the twelve knights including entering the Class 1-S. Currently, there's one student has already received this privileged, and this student that all of you must greatly follow to achie—"

Wait, wait, wait, wait... Hold on minute!

What did he meant a certain student has already received the privileged title?!!!

My mind was racing with questions, then suddenly a realization hit me like a ton of bricks as the lingering voice of that enigmatic woman's word came through my mind.

Shit....!

So is this was she actually meant?!!!

Glance up on the tower once more, as it seem that my class placement was still undetermined.

Whew... calm down me, were losing composure.

Shaking my head, to clear my thoughts, realizing that there was no need to overthink things now.

As the man with the glasses explained further, essentially speaking that all sixty students were qualified a place within the twelve knights.

However being only twelve student could cater in the class 1-S, hence from the given title.

The number of students being qualified for this title were excessive, they decide to undergo another evaluation exam to truly determined among the sixty students were deserved in the coveted spots as the first year's twelve knights.

It was a deviation, a root cause for this delay of its completion and advancement to next main scenario.

As Leon already been placed as the sixth knight and Sumia also taken her place as the fifth, both individuals with great skill and talent were likely perplexed by the delay.

But regardless of their yesterday's results, it seems this test was inevitable as they were bound to protect their rightful places.

Of course, including myself since I am the last knight.

"Then, are we going to fight against our seniors again, sir?" Another student inquired, voicing out their thoughts that were crossed out in everyone's mind within the tower square.

"No, such arrangements with your seniors would be impossible now since classes were in session at this very moment. Believe me, your seniors were busy of preparing themselves for the next journey— assuming that all of you will experience only when you able to survive at least two years here in the holy land." The man with the glasses clarified.

"Instead, all of you must form a party of five members which would have to battle it out among youngselves." He declared, fixing his glasses as the faint of light was reflected.

"Then, it's a battle royale." Leon spoke out curiously, suddenly everyone's attention were now focus on his direction. I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief when their gaze bore into him.

Nice save! My dear protagonist, your curiosity in seeking out the truth knew no bounds.

The school staff fixing his glasses, glint of light was reflected on his lens, he disdain gaze pierced on the young man with a striking black hair and bright golden eyes.

A surge of confusion gnawing me upon watching the glasses man's reaction towards the protagonist.

What the hell is this glasses man's problem?

Why holding such pure hatred?

"In a sense, yes, the school faculty and its staffs have finally decided that it make things simpler and easier for all of you to form a five man party for this upcoming battle royale in able to truly determined that a remaining three teams with the highest points shall have the rights and privileges of being among the twelve knights, do you understand?" The glasses man explained, his disdain aura intensified.

Again, why holding such a disdainful grudge?

Is it because our dear protagonist, a commoner?

This kind of reaction was never familiar to me when I've played the game.

Based on his aura, it seemed like he has deep grudge with the protagonist or something.

Is there something happened between them?

"Hey, who is this guy?"

"I-I don't know..."

"From his looks alone, that's his from the highlands."

"For a commoner, he's quite cute like a koro."

Though it seems that I was the only noticed their inner turmoil as everyone whispering among themselves, glancing at our dear protagonist.

Despite their glace were still focus on the protagonist, Strangely, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease like there's someone is looking at me from afar.

As I turned, my gaze immediately caught a glimpse of a ethereal figure in the background.

A pair of pale blues eyes made it seem like she was observing me for a long time, then suddenly, she was vanished into a thin air.

Damn it, I've definitely caught the attention from the sword shaman herself.

For once, give me fucking break!

[ Sub Mission: Win a battle royale! ]

As I watched the message popping out, realizing that I had to make my next act of intervention.

With that in mind, I sigh heavily, pushing aside my recent concern about sword shaman and made my way towards the next destination.

"Hey Corrin, it's almost lunchtime, are you coming with us?" Rein asked.

Shaking my head, I calmly explained. "Nah, I'm passed. I need to go and meet someone"

Without looking back, I continued with a sense of determination.

I need to meet her....

The extra character.
