Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Path to Arcane Nexus Academy

Snowy's journey to the Arcane Nexus Academy started on a high note, as he found himself officially a candidate with just three days to prepare for the entrance tests. Wasting no time, he devoted himself to intense meditation, knowing he needed the heightened state of awareness for the challenges ahead. Hours passed as he trained, pushing his mind and body beyond their usual limits. However, the rigorous practice took its toll; at one point, he lost his balance and fell face-first to the ground, much to the amusement of his sister, Miya, who watched from a crack in the door. After regaining his composure and eating a meal prepared by his mother, Snowy returned to his training with renewed focus. By the end of the day, he had finally achieved the heightened state, feeling lighter and more aware than ever before.

Two days flew by, and it was time for Snowy to depart. As he left his family behind, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness, especially seeing Miya's reluctant goodbye. But Snowy knew he had to keep moving forward. The car ride was long, and after hours of driving, he finally arrived at the grand entrance of the Arcane Nexus Academy, where hundreds of other candidates, all nervous and eager, were waiting. After a brief misunderstanding with the driver over the payment, Snowy entered the academy grounds, marveling at the sheer size and beauty of the place.

He quickly found his way to the building where candidates were registering and stood in line to check in. After providing his information, he was given the roll number 069. However, before he could fully grasp what that meant, a massive guy pushed past him in the line. Snowy, unbothered by the threat, met his aggressor's challenge with a steely glare and a calm, "Let's see about that." The guards swiftly intervened, dragging the big guy away, but not before he vowed to settle the score during the exams.

Inside the evaluation room, Snowy was asked to place his hand on an orb that measured combat prowess, not magic, much to his relief. The orb glowed, revealing a combat mastery score of 1270, which placed him at C2—a level higher than average, earning him a spot in Class A, reserved for the academy's most promising and challenging students. Before Snowy could leave, a loud explosion rocked the room. Startled, he turned to see a girl around his age emerge, her presence radiating sheer power. Snowy realized just how far he still had to go.

As the day wound down, Snowy made his way to his assigned room, only to encounter the same large guy from earlier. This time, the guy grabbed Snowy's hand, intending to start a fight. Snowy swiftly countered, twisting the man's arm and forcing him to his knees. Before the situation could escalate further, the girl from the evaluation room intervened with a powerful kick aimed at Snowy. He barely managed to deflect it, grabbing her foot and steadying her to prevent her from crashing into the wall.

Snowy's calm reaction took the girl by surprise, especially when he nonchalantly remarked, "I don't want to pay for the wall." Still puzzled by his actions, she questioned why he was bullying the big guy, to which Snowy clarified that he was merely defending himself. He then offered her a piece of advice: "Be more aware of who the true enemy is—blindness is a weakness someone can exploit."

Exhausted, Snowy retreated to his room, letting the events of the day replay in his mind. The academy was already proving to be a place of unexpected challenges and fierce rivals. As he drifted off to sleep, Snowy couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and determination. He had come this far, and there was no turning back now. He was ready to prove himself, no matter what it took.
