"Son you should give it a chance, it wouldn't hurt you know" Mom said as if she was the one getting hooked with a random person, yes tonne she's random.
"Mother I don't know her, in fact I'm not ready to meet anyone" I said trying to make a point
" well you should do this for me, just meet with her you might get to like her"
My mother was quite good at convincing but this was going to be hard " have you even seen her mom?" I asked.
"You should meet her first then bring her to me" she said, placing her hands on mine gently with pleading eyes.
My mother was the second wife to my father, his first had left him with their young son, my half-brother Michael.
Me and Micheal never got along well, we shared the same position in different forms and sure as hell fought each other for it.
Sole reason why my mother was urging me to get a wife, it was kind of a criteria given to us the young heirs by the chairman of the Antoni financial group.
Grandfather made sure all his sons and grandsons had families to be able to have a high chair in the company, and now it was I and Micheal's turn.
At some point I had to leave, the pressure and fight for it was too much and I was not always one to win fights, especially against my brother.
"… son! Are you listening?" mother inquired as she had noticed I was lost in thoughts.
Yes mother I heard you, be nice, don't say too much, and listen to her speak I heard it all maa" I said nonchalantly repeating her words.
" Good…Good" she said, heaved a sigh of relief and smiled at me.
"Now can I leave mother?, you would make me keep my Date waiting" I insinuated towards leaving tired of listening to her convince me, the only reason I was even going was to make her stop talking about it.
" Goodluck my boy and remember, be nice" she said, patting my shoulders before I finally broke free and left for my Date.
Ohh how I hated what I was about to do, you could sure notice the dislike on my face.
I had met her, my date on two occasions and she gave off the pick-me-girl vibe which I totally disliked, made sure she made sure the whole room knew she was around, another lousy behavior.
I got to the restaurant, it was authentic and classic with cool music and a not so bright light, got to my reserved seat and sat down waiting for her.
And she walked in, not my date, the girl I didn't expect to see not anytime soon, she looked exactly like I remembered and she was walking up to me!.
I adjusted my expression to not give off jerk-like or crazy but she was too good to look away.
A demure and modern day beautiful, her hair as dark as the night sky poured on her shoulders maybe down to her waist I didn't know, her skin was clearer than spring water and I was sure I could smell her sweet scent from where I stood.
" Hi Williams, I'm….."
" Ann….," I said, cutting her short without taking my eyes off her, glad she did not notice my long glance.
" Oh you know my name?" she said extending her hands for a shake
I never shook women, but I took her hands into mine, her skin looked soft and delicate and I wanted to confirm, to quench the fire I felt for just looking at them and they sure didn't disappoint.
Her smile was contagious and I broke a smile one or two times just by watching her speak.
" uhhmm you wouldn't really know me but I'm Belle's sister, I'm adopted so weren't really related" she said, her dimples show faced each time she spoke.
" Oh she told me about you, nice to meet you"
" is something wrong with her, why are you here instead" I asked her without curiosity
" I don't want you to panic but I'm here for a contract, for you" she said almost immediately and I got curious about it.
"A contract, what business do you have for me" putting on my business cap made me cold and straight.
" it's a marriage contract, I want you to marry me"
I was quiet, her statements was a shock, she didn't just propose to me right now.
"Did I hear you right?" I asked
"let's get married, I'll explain better when you accept and it'll be for just a year" I burst into a deep low-tone laughter, it shocked her but what she said shook me more.
Almost immediately I stopped laughing " I'm sorry I know it's not funny, but you need to prove to me it's worth it" I said it in an unmoved manner.
" Excuse me?" she asked as though what I said was unexpected
"yea you need to prove to me this marriage is what my time" I teased her.
At this point, I saw I had made her uncomfortable and she wasn't having it but it was fun while it lasted as I knew I was just been teasy
It showed she was still a boring girl with no game and I knew what she was on with the contract she proposed.
We didn't notice when Belle walked in on us and she obviously was surprised and pissed.
" What's going on were? Why are you both together" she asked, throwing a questioning look from me to Ann.
" uhmm Williams and I were talking about our wedding" she replied all while looking at me smiling.
" what? Ann!!! C'mon over here let's talk" Belle said in between her clenched teeth
I stood up immediately " you know what, let's go to a more private place, so you mind ?" I said extending my hands as support for her to stand.
She took them even though there was surprise on her face, we walked off and totally ignored a pouting belle behind us.
