Chapter 23 - Make Space For Me

AVA'S POV:

The weekend had fast approached, the old Earlton sent his driver to come pick up the kids and I expected Ryan to come to me and ask why I had said he wouldnt go with them, but he didnt.

Lily and Fred got into the car as I waved at them and watch the car leave "Let's go in," I said to Ryan who hurried past me and went to his bedroom.

"It's so hard being a mom." I fell on the couch and stared at the ceiling. My phone chimed a new message, and I read it; it was from Yan.

[Another day to remind you of how much I love you]

I rolled my eyes and threw the phone to the side. He could send a thousand messages, but I wouldn't reply to him.

Such a narcissist.

"Wow," I heard someone say from the door. My gaze moved to the door, and it was Yan.

He walked in, I jumped down the couch and walked to him "What are you doing here?"

"What else?" he held my hand and pulled me towards him, wrapped his hand around my waist and kissed me.

I struggled to break the kiss but he didnt stop, after feeling satisfied…he finally broke the kiss and said "Why will you ignore your husband's text?"

"Go to hell," I snorted, he must be a joke calling himself my husband.

"Kiss me," he said more of an order and I snorted loudly on his face "Dream on"

Yan chuckled and scanned the place "You have become so fierce baby, I prefer the soft Ava I used to know"

He had killed that soft side in me and now he was asking for it "And I know it's still within you baby,"

I looked away, I wasnt willing to share a conversation with him and hope he could get it and leave.

To my surprise, he found his way upstairs as I hurried behind him, "Where are you going to?"

He didn't reply and stopped before a bedroom and pushed it open. We were welcomed by a ball coming straight to us, and Yan was quick to catch it.

"I am sorry," Ryan jumped down the bed with a frightened look; apparently he was playing.

"What did I tell you about bouncing the ball in the house?" I frowned at him when Yan raised a brow at me.

"Why do you remind me so much of my mom?" he added, and my eyes widened in shock. Did he just compare me with his mom? Do I look like his mom?

He chuckled and walked to Ryan and handed him the ball. "My driver is waiting downstairs and is willing to drive you to your grandpa's place," he explained, and Ryan's eyes lit up.

I clenched my fist angrily and called out, "Yan..."

"Hush," he stopped me before I could go further.

"Do you wish to go?" he questioned, and Ryan nodded happily. Was he going to let Ryan go without my permission? Wasn't he crossing the limit right now?

"Then tell me why your mom is angry with you"

Ryan lowered his gaze, then he stared at me with teary eyes "I didnt ask you to cry did I ?" Yan questioned and I felt bad for the kid, maybe I was being too hard on him.

"I saw my teacher talk to her, maybe she told her about me" Ryan explained.

"So you know what you did was wrong? Whatever you did, so you fix the mess from monday. I dont want to hear a complain about you again, understood?" Yan said and the kid nodded at once.

Ryan walked to me before he said, "I am sorry, mother; I will never hurt anyone again."

I smiled at him; it was good that he was remorseful. So I crouched and hugged him. "You promise?"

"I do"

Yan walked towards us and pointed at the door. "The driver is waiting for you; now leave."

I frowned at Yan, but Ryan had already run past me and gone downstairs. "Hey, you don't make decisions that concern my kids lives," I scolded, and he nodded.

"I know,"

"Then why did you?" I dont know why I was angry; he had helped me solve such a complicated situation, but all I did was yell at him.

"Because you were sad, I will do everything to make you happy, baby."

My teeth gritted as I took a proper look at his face. Why did he have to show up and break all the walls I built?

"If you really love me Yan, then please get out of my life" I turned and walked downstairs when he followed me.

"Why is it so hard for you to accept me?" he asked with a lost look, did he really not know why?

"Because if you claimed to love me so much, you wouldn't have left for six years and let me doubt myself," I yelled as tears rolled down my cheeks. It's been years, but every time I thought about it, it hurt a lot. Maybe after I found out he was married, a part of me still wanted him; I still wanted him to fill my ears with lies and be with me.

But he just disappeared. "I was not myself, Ava; I had completely lost myself... Did you think there was any possibility that I was not well?" He fired back at me, and I chuckled.

The news talked about him, about how he kept sealing deals every year, and he talks of being unwell.

"I saw you in every year's article, Yan. Go fool someone else."

He nodded and approached me, "Let's not argue, can we?"

"Get out of my house, Yan, get the fuck out." He was making me lose my mind. Did he think I deserved all this?

"We are married, love; your yellings and disagreements won't change that fact. This time around, I am not leaving, so better make space in your life for me," he stated before leaving.
