Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: A Royal Wedding

Every town and village in the kingdom rejoiced as word of Caden and Elara's engagement soon spread. The idea of their adored monarchs getting married thrilled the populace, and plans for the royal nuptials started right away.

With flags and flowers honoring the prince and his bride's union, the castle was turned into a magical setting. Nobles were invited to participate in the celebrations, and people from all walks of life traveled to watch the occasion. The kingdom came together in joy and optimism for the future at this celebration unlike any other.

Elara stood in her rooms on the day of the wedding, wearing a gown that was especially made for

her. It was a work of art made of exquisite lace and ivory silk, embroidered with royal insignia and set with pearls that glistened like stars. She looked ethereal as a veil of the finest gossip fell over her face.

Rearranging the train and placing the flowers in her hair, Seraphine and the other ladies-in-waiting fussed over the last touches. With pride shining in her eyes, Seraphine said, "You look like a queen."

Elara grinned despite her racing heart from all the excitement. "I have a sense of unity."

When the ceremony's time drew near, Aelinor—clad in his best armor—entered the chamber. He felt tremendous delight in the job of accompanying Elara down the aisle, an honor bestowed upon him.

"It's time," he said, extending her arm.

Elara steadied herself by inhaling deeply. "Leave now."

There were visitors in the big hall where the wedding was to be held, and the air was filled with their excited murmuring. Standing at the altar, Caden's gaze was fixed on the doors that Elara would shortly emerge from. He was dressed in full royal regalia, including a deep blue coat with gold embroidery, a kingdom-colored ribbon, and the crown designating him as the heir apparent. But for all the elegance, Elara was the sole person in his sight.

A gasp went up through the hall when the doors finally opened and Elara arrived on Aelinor's arm. She was a picture of beauty, the ideal partner for the prince who stood by.

Her eyes met Caden's as they walked down the aisle, and everything appeared to disappear. As it always had been and always would be, there were just the two of them.

Aelinor retreated as she approached the altar, and Caden grasped her hand with a comforting, warm touch. They turned to face the officiant together, and he said words of blessing and hope to start the ceremony.

Their modest yet deeply felt vows were exchanged. They committed to supporting one another, overcoming obstacles, and creating a loving and happy future together. They sealed their vows with a kiss that reverberated throughout the huge ceremony after the officiant declared them husband and wife hall, making their love visible to all.

The joyous and humorous celebration that followed was a real tribute to Caden and Elara's love for one another. With their hearts bright and full of optimism for the future, they danced under the stars with everyone they loved in their lives.

Caden and Elara stole away from the celebrations to spend some alone time together as the evening became darker and the people started to head home. It was in the castle gardens when they strolled hand in hand—the very spot where Caden had proposed.

Elara said, "It's unbelievable we've arrived," as she peered up at the stars.

Caden drew her in closer and answered, "Neither can I." But I'm happy that we are.

They remained silent for taking a minute to savor the silence and serenity of the evening.

"What do you believe lies ahead for us?" Elara enquired, her tone full of hope and curiosity.

With a smile, Caden reflected the starlight in his eyes. "We'll face it together, whatever that may be. As kings and subjects, as well as husband and wife.

Elara nodded, a wave of satisfaction sweeping through her. "Collectively."

And knowing that they would face whatever was ahead with love, bravery, and the unshakeable tie that had taken them this far, they stood there, hand in hand.
